Cool - I'd heard that some ASUS ones were built pretty hardcore for gaming/graphics as well. I made the mistake of buying a few games on Steam, and thought that my Macbook could handle them since it runs WoW without any issues.. nope. No dice. I haven't been able to play any Amnesia or Left4Dead as a result. Trying to remedy that.

I also bought the Roxio Game Capture device which works great.. but apparently the soundcard in my shitty Toshiba notebook is equally as shitty and won't record any sound as a result. :(

Either way I have a bonus from work coming soon so I'm hoping to put half in savings and then splurge on this with the rest.

Actually I took some time doing some research and everything that I find suggests that the Battalion 101 X8100-U3 is the absolute cream of the crop of gaming laptops.

Though its like over what the top of the line Alienware's M17x and Asus' G51Jx. If you want 17 inch minimum, your stuck with either Battalion or M17x as your choices, because G51Jx comes as a 15.6.

Yeah I just came up with the Battalion in my search too. Though I couldn't find out where to actually buy the X8100 as it's not listed on their website. =\

Yo, I'm pretty sure I just broke Assassin's Creed 2. I just did an assassination mission where I had to kill 3 guys in under 5 minutes, and they all had big posses around them. Since there was a time limit, I jumped on a horse so I could run everywhere fast enough. Once I got to where they were, I just stayed on my horse and killed everyone from horseback, without getting hit once. At first I thought I was just a fuckin badass, naturally, but now that I'm back in town and my wanted level is all the way full, I realize now that I somehow managed to break the game. All the guards run up and "attack" me once they see me, as they're supposed to, but once they get up to me all they do is get into their defensive stance and circle, over and over and over again.

So, yeah, either I broke the game or Ezio is truly the most awe inspiring assassin ever.

I would say the later. Just makes it sound better than you breaking the game.

Have any of you guys bought a game, sold it, bought again, sold it again, repeat? I'm about to buy Zelda Twilight Princess for the 3rd time now ($16 used).

I sold my old N64 wrestling games about 4 years ago and then just bought them back about a year ago.

Final Fantasy IV. I've bought and sold each edition they bring out. Why? God only knows, but I continue to do it. I used to own a DS copy, but sold that already and will likely, when I get a job (more like if at this rate), will buy the Complete Collection.

That is until they bring out the Limited Most Awesome Edition. Then I'll move onto that.

I've owned Mass Effect at least 3 times, each time with the intent of playing it, only to end up trading it. I think I made it to the Citadel, and that's about it. I tend to buy, sell, and trade quite often, so I'm sure that's not the only one.

I've owned Lunar Silver Star Story for PSone at least 4 or 5 times over the years. Ditto with FFVII.

I traded in both of the Uncharted games and the 3 God of War games, and I am pretty sure I will be buying them back in the not too distant future.

(Back on multiple game purchases) I'm pretty sure I have about 4 copies of Fable II. The LE I bought at launch and never opened, the accidental XBL Games on Demand freebie, a $10-15 used at EB LE missing the cardboard slipcase, and another regular edition I recently got as a package with a bunch of other games.

I've still yet to play the game.

I have 3 Mass Effects. One that got scratched. One that I bought to replace it and lent out and never got back. And the On Demand one I bought to finish the last achievements.

I want Xenoblade, Last Story, and Pandora's Tower.

I will find a way to fucking pay for them. Yet Nintendo keeps saying "sorry, we're not doing it".

WHAT THE FUCK NINTENDO?!

That's what's pissing me off. There's also word going around that they are going to upgrade all three games for the WiiU so that they can say "hey, we've got your hardcore games right here".

That would be the biggest slap to my face, since ever.

I tried the Sonic Generations demo. It's essentially the first stage of Sonic 1 with HD graphics and a lot of shit going on in the background, but I thought it had potential. But when Sonic would go really fast I had trouble following himself because of all the shit in the background, so I'm not sure if it's just something you get used to after a few levels or if it's going to be a problem. Plus there's the fact that it's a Sonic game, so the potential for suck is high.

And a weird thing, the demo expires after 10 days or something. Huh? Are they afraid that if I can play the ONE LEVEL THAT TAKES TWO MINUTES TO COMPLETE forever that I'll be happy with that and not buy the full game?

Now Pandora's Tower is being brought over to Europe as well.

...so every game of Operation Rainfall is being brought over there, yet over here notta.

Well, these are gonna be the first games I import then.

Any thoughts on Catherine? I've heard it described by the designers as "a dating sim crossed with Q-Bert" which sounds bizarre as shit, but it's made by the same team who did the Persona series so they gain overness from that.

I'm unemployeed so I haven't managed to figure out a way to get the money to buy it. Its a little different than Q-Bert from what I've been told, and that its hard as hell.

But its just Atlus, so what else would we expect? Also, Catherine apparently takes place in the same Earth as Persona (as evidenced by our lead showing up in the remake of P3)

Nope. It will be modded as soon as I can buy one of those games.

Physically or via homebrew? Does a physical mod affect the Wii's ability to connect online? Because if not, then I'm going to be doing that as well..

Depends really. There are some people that it works for and they have no problems, and some who do.

I'm leaning more to Homebrew, but I'll take some time to do some research on that before I make a decision.

From what I gathered with Homebrew, it's just that whenever you do a system update it will more than likely wipe out the current capabilities. I also think that they might block you from using the Wiishop if they detect it. I've never tried it, though.

Its not like I use WiiShop anyways, so there's no problem for me there.

But yeah, that's about the biggest downside to it.

I put in my order for the M17x today. They were having a sale that ends this Friday where you get $250 off so I decided to take advantage. Dropped about $2400 total on the sucker, and it's on the high-end of the spec setup as well. Can't wait to finally be able to do some quality video editing on a computer that isn't a work machine. Oh, and the games too, of course. ;)
