"The resistance to Russia's invasion has seen civilians prepare to defend their capital in recent days, with officials arming reservists with 18,000 guns and ammunition in Kyiv alone and Ukrainian TV broadcasting instructions for making Molotov cocktails.

But it stressed that the bulk of Russian forces are now only 18.6 miles from the center of Kyiv, warning that casualties are "likely to be heavy and greater than anticipated or acknowledged by the Kremlin."

Yeah, I read somewhere that up until last day, Russia had only deployed a third of their troops that they had positioned around the border. It's probably just a matter of time before they overwhelm Ukraine.

There are tons of sources for different stories of what they have done, but Anonymous has been doing some great work via hacking and releasing information from Russia, and taking down sites and such. They exposed many emails from a Belarus weapons maker providing support and such for this invasion. Here is one of many stories:

Belarus joining the invasion, Ruble tanking in offhours trading, fairly quiet the last 12 hours in general though on the ground since the failed Kharkiv attack.

tbf though, $3,300 goes a lot further in Ukraine than it does in the US.

(Wait @BruiserBrody makes $3,300 a month at Wal-Mart!? Maybe I should work at Wal-Mart)
Does anyone else feel like Twitter and such is giving a much more positive view of the Ukraine's performance than what I've seen on TV? Local news, Fox and MSNBC seem to be leaning into dread. Maybe the "likes" force good news up my feed?

I work about 4-5 hours of OT a week, but yeah I'm taking home a decent chunk for a Wisconsin bum with no wife and kids to support.

Does Wal-Mart hire full time employees anymore? When I worked there a few years ago while in school, it was made pretty clear that full-timers like my mom were all grandfathered in.

I just watch the ABC News Now stream on Hulu since I don't have cable but it seems like tone is "These guys are brave but screwed due to numbers wise" I think they're getting love on social media because everyone loves an underdog. I assume the reality of the situation is a lot grimmer than it's being portrayed on social media or the MSM.

We take anyone with a pulse. They begged people to work OT for much of the past 2 years of Covid.
New guy called in 7 of his first 11 days...not fired.
Other dude abused the Covid leave policy and was gone for over 2 months before he was fired. Hired back a few months later and now he calls in 75 percent of the time again....
And so on....
I haven't called in since 2004, so I'm basically employed for life as they have so few who show up.
Lots of mental health destruction in the workplace though. Lots of pressure real and perceived. No help and no hope. Lots of awful customers.

But at least I am not enduring what the Ukrainians are. I feel bad for bitching about anything with real world problems being what they are.
