Scott Pilgrim game came out. Did anyone else download this today? So fun, totally a River City Ransom throwback where Toronto plays River City! So weird to see places that I frequent represented in a videogame. One of the shops in the game is called "Dee's Tex Mex" which I can only assume is supposed to be the best Tex Mex joint in town Sneeky Dee's. Good times!!

I downloaded the Sector 8 game since it was a cool £3 as i had £5 in my PSN wallet. Ive needed a reasonable PSN shootemup to make use of my free onlineism.

I downloaded Kick-Ass and Earthworm Jim the other day. I may download Scott Pilgram once I am done with those 2 games.

It's a pretty generic overhead beat em up. Kinda like a simplified version of Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Graphic's aren't that hot, but it's alright for a $10 download.

Downloaded Scott Pilgram earlier today. Fun little clone of River City Random. Seems to be a lot of cheap downloads on the PSN lately.

On my phone, and not up to flipping through older posts. Is Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, worthy of a blind buy?

Peace Walker is really fun. And it's a really big game. Controls are fine. Go for it.

I honestly have no need for a psp now. Once i complete BBS i may get rid of it, but replays of crisis core and bbs may make me change my mind down the line.

Oh shit I forgot about that.

Gotta get some more money soon. But I still have MGS extra missions to beat. Mostly bosses and hide and seek tho. Eh.

Also Persona 3 PSP.

I shouldnt be spending money but I'm considering getting Spiderman Shattered Dimension or Kingdom Hearts. Ah fuck, what do I do??? Kingdom Hearts is probably better, and it's cheaper so I should go for that if I do chose to buy either of them.

"He shouts 'Pause!'"
"Tragic"

I just noticed, though, that the layout for the buttons on the Move controller is different than the one on the Bluray remote. That could be confusing.

Do ppl actually get the remotes? I just use a controller..

I have to come down on the side of buttons in this case, anyway. I can't even really get into touch screen games TBH.

I played Spiderman yesterday and it was better than I was expecting. I'm having some fun with it. I went into my local Best Buy today and they had it on one of the monitors to play so you may want to check if you can try at your local store. If you decide to go with Spidey and want to save some money, Fry's Electronics has it for $10 off through Tuesday.

So it looks like my PS3 bricked. Or at least the blu ray drive. System still turns on, connects to PSN just fine. It has to be a hardware issue. I've had the blu ray drive replaced once already, and it costs about half of what buying a new system costs.

PS3 Slim, here I come!

So, I am wondering if I should be preparing myself for the worst?

Last night after playing a few games of CODMW2 but PS3 suddenly shut off and the red power light was blinking. The controller wouldn't turn it back on, but touching the power button would. I checked the net and I got mostly forum posts about overheating and to use the vacuum trick or canned air to clean out the vents. Did that and it's fine. But I am wondering if this is just an early symptom of what is yet to come.. possibly my bluray drive bottoming out on me? I just don't want to leave it too long for it to do any permanent damage where I can't do a system transfer and lose all of my data.

I mean in a way I'm kinda happy.. I don't want to spend $400 but I do want a slim model with a bigger HDD and that Move bundle is a pretty good deal for a 320GB system + the Move stuff.

Any thoughts or similar experiences?

So I guess I've been lucky.. I haven't had the random shutdown/blinking red light again.. and I was playing for well over three hours the other night.. I guess it was just the vents needing to be cleaned out, or a random occurance. Either way, saves me $400. Though I really do want to upgrade to a slim model with a bigger HDD eventually..

I tried it before, but I could never get the system to transfer entirely. Apparently the only way to get an entire system transfer is from one system to another system - that includes the copy-protected gamesaves, etc. I'm fine with the cost when it does have to happen.. I just don't want to lose a lot of the huge copy-protected saves like Dragon Age or Fallout.

Odd, i used the backup utility and although it took hours, everything copied across perfectly, including my copy protected shiz.

Yeah I tried it 3 times. Copied my old data to the external HDD and then back again to the new HDD and all of my copy protected stuff was gone. :(

I found a few forum posts online with similar issues and the only way they could get it to work was with the "System Transfer" option instead of the backup option. Course you need a second system for that.

Dub. it sounds like you might have the early symptoms of a dirty blu ray lens, or the blue ray drive itself weakening. Same shit happened to me, although at first it only happened once, and cleaning it out seemed to work. Then once it happened a second time, it started happening more frequently. If you are willing to open your PS3 up, and clean the lens that way with some lens cleaner, that might help though. If you fear it is overheating though, that is something to address sooner than later, as it could lead to other hardware inside failing or being damaged.

I think that was my problem, my system showed symptoms, but I seemed to always temporarily "fix" it by with the canned air, or just trying to not play marathon sessions. I even did the "rebuild file data" software trick, and that seemed to fix it too. However in the end, it just delayed the inevitable.

Now I have a PS3 Slim.....and my old PS3 is in my room. Once I get enough spare cash I might take it to a local console repair shop, get them to identify the exact problem to see if it worst fixing it, just to have it up and running as a second blu ray player and maybe occasional gaming.

Started giving me more problems so I bit the bullet and got the 320 gig Move bundle for $399.. But also had a $100 gift card so it was too bad of a hit to take. Thankfully the system transfer worked smoothly!
