How do you do a system transfer? Or are you just talking about using your same PSN identity on the new PS3?

It's in the system menu - Data Transfer Utility. You have to hook up the two machines with an ethernet cable and it transfers everything, even the copy-protected stuff.

Ahh...ok. Don't think I really need to do it at this point, since I didn't have much on my old system, (it was just the 40gb model) and the few games I lost my save files on, are games I am trading in for game-store credit anyway and would have been erased.

With the 120gb Slim, I plan on exploring a lot more downloadable games and neat stuff you can find on PSN....

Yeah, same here. It'll also be nice not to constantly have to make room for movies/rentals from PSN.

Looks like another version of Zombie Apocalypse. While we're at it.. I like those kinds of games where you use one stick to move and the other to shoot.. but is this all they can make for the zombie genre? This game. Zombie Apocalypse. Age of Zombies. Burn Zombie Burn. Seems like it's all they can think of..

I'd even throw Left 4 Dead in the group. Hell, I've played Left 4 Dead, and I think it is highly overrated. From what I played the game is just "ok" and that's it.

I like Left for Dead.

Now ive only played about 3 maps due to it being a bit dull on single player. But its great all the same.

So, apparently there is a bug in the PS3 version of Castlevania that will corrupt you save file, when you try to load it. Since you are only allowed ONE(!!!) Save file for thw game, you're pretty much fucked if it happens to you. Its said the bug is also in the 360 version, but it doesn't happen as often. Konami has not issued a statement yet.

So if you're following the Online ID thread, you'll see I have a PS3 now (which also means I can stop bashing Blu-Ray as pointless and embrace it). It's the 160GB Slim model.

I didn't do much except putz around menus, check out how Netflix looked streaming, make a Home avatar, change the ugly gold background colour to green, etc. A question came to mind: what purpose does the menu option for managing PS2 memory cards serve when the Slims aren't compatible with PS2 games?

Well supposedly they are going to start rolling out PS2 classics on the PSN someday.

My guess would be because it's one version of the OS for all versions of the console and the launch consoles can play them. (which is the only reason I bought the PS3 because they were discontinuing PS2 support...clever bastards)

I wonder if PS2 saves would work on the Sly Cooper Collection. I'm assuming not.

My old saves have worked fine with digital copies of games, even the PS2 stuff. If there is a Sly collection coming for PS3 then I would doubt it.

Actually selecting the menu, I see the option is to create virtual memory cards to support games from those systems. I like the theory of PS2 games eventually coming to the PSN Store.

I had some ranting about me falling into the Blu-Ray trap but I moved it to the correct section.

I stopped by Gamestop this afternoon and partook of their Buy 2 get 1 Free used sale. Picked up Castlevania Lords of Shadow, Dead Rising 2, and got Transformers War for Cybertron for free.

I traded in Red Dead, Uncharted 2, New Super Mario Bros Wii, and a shitload of other wii games, and ended up with about $88 in store credit, so I browsed around and picked up, Resident Evil 5 Gold edition, Ratchet & Clank a crack in time, ^ Motorstorm pacific rim. I still had about $20 left so I put that down for Black Ops....

I have played about an hour of each game, and I am pretty stoked as my early impressions of these games makes me believe that was one of my better video game purchasing decisions. I am enjoying all three so far, and all are so different from each other that I will easily be able to break up the monotony if I get tired of a certain style. Add in Madden '11 and MW2(which will soon be traded in for black ops) and I pretty much have a collection of games that are all pretty different.

Netflix is now available without a disc. Check your video tab to go get it. Small 19 MB download.

The PS3 app also allows 5.1 sound and 1080i (maybe p) video, which I guess other platforms may not. It's supposed to have a really good interface--possibly better than the 360's, and no Gold account required, to boot. We just got Netflix in Canada, and it's barely worth having yet, so I haven't used it.

I actually cancelled my Netflix account last night before I got charged as they had a free, 30 day trial. The service works, but the last luster collection is why I cancelled it. I can see me going back in 6 months time or so when they actually have a decent amount of content

I think netflix instant has a pretty good library but where a lot of people get turned off is that they seem to not get new releases in a reasonable enough amount of time for most people, however I would say their overall collection is pretty massive, and if you are like me and dig around to find movies that aren't offered in your local multiplex, netflix usually has them and there is usually a good chance they end up on instant as well.

I just checked out the new netflix layout on PS3. It is pretty damn sweet. You just have to download the app, a really quick 19mb download....it is pretty awesome.

NoCalMike, you have to understand you were just comparing the US library - which seems to be chock full of Hammer films and old TV shows - to the Canadian library, which contains The Wizard and a bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine.

Something that bothers me about the PS3 set-up for Netflix is the omission of the Anime genre search. I'll give the Canadian Netflix props for being chock full of anime I would otherwise never even thought of watching, but it's much easier to see the entire list on the webpage - where I don't want to watch it - than the PS3 TV streaming page.

This, re: anime. I wouldn't have even known there was anime in there unless I had went through all of the sci-fi movies.

That said, also cancelling. The selection is ass.

You can watch anything they have on the website "Instant View" on the PS3, just add it to your queue first to make it easier.

Just finished Heavy Rain last night. Did not feel like a game the way the plot developed. My girlfriend actually watched me play most of it, which is a rare feat onto itself. Some notes from my play through:
Only character that didn't make it to the end was the FBI agent. I got distracted during a fight with the killer at the end, and he knocked me out and he got chopped up. This meant that the killer got away in the end.
I saved the kid and nailed Madison, so I guess that would be the happy ending.
I called the poison not actually being poison, but I still debated drinking it for a few minutes.
Knowing that once a character is dead, the story continues anyway put me on edge big time during some of the more tense moments like the fight at the scrap yard and trying to escape the burning apartment with Madison.

I only picked up the game on a rental, but already knowing how it ends, really doesn't compel me to try and make different decisions during another play through.

This feature is not available in Canada.

dubq: Dude! They're updates are filling out. We just got King of Kong, Predator, some shitty Ashton Kutcher movies, and so on. I just watched Batman the other day too. Looks awesome on the HDTV.
