You can use the touch pad too to control the character
3:42
bashcraft: So Yoshida is using the buttons and the sticks, but then touches the panel and Drake moves!
3:42
bashcraft: The gyrosensor can be used to make Drake jump, too
3:42
bashcraft: He's sliding his fingers on the back
3:43
bashcraft: He slides his fringers on the touch pad on the back
and drake moves down the vine
3:44
bashcraft: On NGP, you can even touch places and Drake will jump there. You can draw lines and Drake will move ahead

bashcraft: it looks to be around the size of the original PSP

bashcraft: yoshida is playing LITTLE DEVIANTS
3:48
bashcraft: the cute characters are controlled by the rear touch panel
3:49
bashcraft: The rear touch panel is FIVE INCHES, same size as the game screen, so where you touch on the rear touch pad is where it is on the screen
3:49
bashcraft: You can use two fingers, too
3:50
bashcraft: In the game, players press a ball through a cute world, but pressing on the real touch panel, its like they are pressing UP through the game, really cool

bashcraft: You can use the front touch screen, too

bashcraft: Now, Hirai is talking about Live Area
3:51

3:52
bashcraft: LiveArea will have info about other games and publishers.
3:52
bashcraft: LiveArea is the user interface
3:53
bashcraft: Players can find out about games, the PlayStation Store
3:53
bashcraft: Its user friendly

bashcraft: LiveArea has a communciation function, and a live feed that shows what your friends are up to
3:54
bashcraft: Friends can comment, too
3:55
bashcraft: On NGP, there is a steady new flow of info from LiveArea, Kaz asks, to which Shimada says, yes
3:55
bashcraft: LiveArea adds depth
3:55
bashcraft: NGP will connect with mobile networks
3:55
bashcraft: the first game portable to do so

bashcraft: The application "Near" lets players see what other games players are talking about
3:56
bashcraft: in an area around where you are
3:56
bashcraft: Players can know what people are playing on the train, for example
3:57

3:57
3:58

3:58
bashcraft: players can see what the most popular game in a given area
3:58
bashcraft: Up there is the LiveArea interface
3:59
bashcraft: You can check what titles different players have played recently
3:59
bashcraft: in the Near app
3:59
bashcraft: Also, you can check the rankings in a given area
3:59
bashcraft: What the most popular game is, etc

bashcraft: Hirai is talking about converging real and virtual
4:01
bashcraft: how things like near bring the virtual world to the real world
4:02
bashcraft: now yoshida is going to show hot shots golf on NGP
4:02
bashcraft: hes going to show how NPG does convergence
4:03
bashcraft: he's moving the golfer aound the screen with his finger
4:03
bashcraft: You can change the point of view to first person
4:04
bashcraft: And as he moves NGP, he can see the point of view -- just by moving the NGP, he's looking at statues and the course
4:04

4:04
bashcraft: It's like he's in the game
4:05
bashcraft: He set up his shot in the first person mode, but then switched to third person mode
4:05
bashcraft: to hit the ball
bashcraft: so NGP has sixaxis, which can put players in the game, much like move or the sixaxis
4:06
bashcraft: Games on PlayStation Suite will work on NGP, too
4:06
bashcraft: That means that content that is for smart phones (PlayStation Suite) operate on the NGP
4:07
bashcraft: Hirai thinks this cross platform will offer new forms of entertainment
4:07
bashcraft: Hirai says wants to know with new creators
4:07
bashcraft: "This means that the content for PlayStation will be expanded"
4:08
bashcraft: You can play downloadable PSP titles on the NGP

bashcraft: Now Takeuchi from Capcom is from Capcom
4:10
bashcraft: He wants to thank everyone for the success of monster hunter
4:10
bashcraft: portable 3rd
4:10
bashcraft: they have sold 4 mill copies
4:10
bashcraft: He's talking about a downloadable version of Monster Hunter Portable 3rd
4:11
bashcraft: So he's going to show how it works on NGP
4:11
bashcraft: It will run on NGP
4:12
bashcraft: This is the first time he's seen it on a NGP, apparently
4:12
bashcraft: He says the game looks beautiful on NPG thanks to the OLED screen
4:12
bashcraft: "The stick feels great, you can quote me," says Takeuchi
4:13
bashcraft: "It feels different from the stick on the PSP. It goes down further, it tilts. It'll be good for action games."

4:14
bashcraft: It's called MT Mobile
4:14
bashcraft: He's showing Lost Planet on NGP, running in real time
4:15
bashcraft: It doesn't look as good as the PS3
4:15
bashcraft: It looks really, really good, and better than the PSP
4:15
bashcraft: But the polygons are blocky
4:15
bashcraft: still, its's very impressive
4:15
phppCgNDomhpsp.jpg

4:16
bashcraft: Today, he's not announcing any new titles
4:16
bashcraft: But will in the future!
4:16
bashcraft: Hirai is very excited about playing a downloadable version of Monster Hunter Portable 3 on NGP
4:17
bashcraft: Now, Toshihiro Nagoshi is on the screen
4:17
bashcraft: he makes Monkey Ball and Yakuza

Lost Planet on the PSP2

bashcraft: Yakuza 4 is being ported to NGP, it seems
4:20
Crecente: O:
4:20

4:20
bashcraft: "Everything can be transformed to NGP",
4:20
bashcraft: They did it in a really short time
4:21
bashcraft: "I'm really excited to be developing something new for a networked gaming experience", Nagoshi said

He says of course titles will be ported, but games can be reborn on NGP
4:26
bashcraft: with its new functionalities
4:27
bashcraft: Now, Hideo Kojima is on stage, creator of Metal Gear
4:27
bashcraft: "I don't have an announcement of a new title"
4:27
bashcraft: mgs4 is shown running on NGP
4:27
bashcraft: it looks really good
4:28
bashcraft: Better than Lost Planet 2 did
4:28
bashcraft: This is pretty impressive looking
4:28
bashcraft: this is a test, like all the other clips
4:28
bashcraft: Snake is meeting MKII in the game, if you are familiar with it
4:29
bashcraft: "This game used the model data and environments from PS3, and it was exported directly to NGP"

bashcraft: His (Kojima) focus is how cloud computing can add a new experience for players
4:32
bashcraft: He says the dream to play home console games outside on a portable (the same game) hasn't been realized yet
4:32
bashcraft: That's something he would like to do
4:33
bashcraft: So players could play a PS3 game at home, and then take that game outside on NGP
4:33
bashcraft: "This dream is going to come true in the near future"
bashcraft: "I am currently working on a new project for that dream."
4:33
bashcraft: He says they'll present that title at E3

bashcraft: Call of Duty coming to NGP
bashcraft: "we believe Call of Duty will set the bar for the next generation of portable gaming"
4:41
bashcraft: He says the dual analog sticks, social networking, front and back touch screens make anything possible
4:41
bashcraft: They will share more details about NGP in the future
4:41
bashcraft: and earl is off the stage
4:42
bashcraft: Hirai thinks we can experience a totally new world of Call of Duty
4:42
bashcraft: A list of a whole bunch of devs rolls up the screen
4:42
bashcraft: like q entertainment, andubisoft, rockstar
4:43
bashcraft: who pledged their support to NGP

So something else about the NGP: Any content you buy over the Playstation Store that you can play right now on your PSP, you will play on NGP. That includes PS One games, minis, PSN exclusives and Full PSP Games. This means! The NGP is 100% backwards compatible!!!! ...except with your physical UMD's.

Not for me unless its outstanding. I got suckered into getting the original PSP and now its not worth me trading it in due to the homebrew aspects.

I feel like I'm asking a dumb question here, but does PS3 have an option to play PSP games? I just notice a lot of them in the PS Store.

Not as far as I know. I'd love to play stuff like Crisis Core and Peace Walker, but I'm not up to buying a PSP just to do so.

Incorrect, the PSP games have to be copied to the PSP memory card.

I thought there was also an option to play your PSP games on your TV, through the PS3, but using the PSP as the controller? Not sure why anyone would want to do that, though, as the resolution must be horrible.

There's component cables to hook up a PSP to a TV. I don't know how that'd work real well, unless you've got a small TV, or the cables are 15 feet long.

Yeah, like he said, you hook the PSP directly to the TV.

Unless you have the original model PSP's that don't have TV out like me.

So I've been having a decent time with my new PS3 and have realized that as much as its not a 360, there's still some quality games on there and PS+ is actually a pretty good deal since I've gotten some free content and demos out of it. With that said, I DLed the Killzone beta and have been playing that a little bit.

My question: Should I contact the Sony Rep thats on my friend's list and see if he can score me a copy of the CE edition for what it would cost him plus a little added cash? (The Helghast edition, retail is like 130 but for him he said its something like, 65...)

I know I'm the only one on the planet who doesn't like the Kevin Butler character, but this is pretty fucking retarded on his part:

So I had a look at the PSN store and saw that Resident Evil 2 was on sale for $2.99. I had a few dollars left in my wallet so I decided to pick it up. Dated graphics aside, I never played it and heard that it is one of the better Resident Evil games out there. So I watched the opening cinematic and was thrust into the gameplay. 20 seconds later I was dead because I could not seem to walk my character in the right direction. I tried it again and was killed after a minute. I then said fuck it and went back over to Red Dead for a while. I will probably give it another shot tonight, but damn, have gaming controls ever improved for the better over the years.

Yea, you more or less control your character as if they were a tank. Left and Right to turn, Up to move forward in whatever direction your character is facing. I remember getting the hang of it quickly way back, but I can definitely understand where some would find it difficult.

Exactly. That quick 180 is a real lifesaver. I don't remember if it made it into Code Veronica.
