I'm pretty sure the quick-180 and auto-aim (now THAT was a fucking life saver. Eat it crows and bats!) made it into CV, but not having to hit a button to walk up stairs did not. Not that I gave a shit about that feature at all, but I remember some friend of mine harping how if CV didn't have that feature it had to be awful.

I have RE1 and it notes that as it is the "Director's Cut" it supports the analog stick. It didn't seem to do this when I played, but I later learned this is because playing PS1 games on PS3 has a whole seperate menu where you can switch the analog sticks on and off. If I were to play again with them on, does it support full control, or still the old style but with a stick?

Yeah, I sat down a played RE2 again, and after a few failed attempts, I got a hang of the damn controls, though I still seem to be going all over the damn place.

Sony's cut the PSP-3000 core to $130 (down $40), and added a handful of games to the Greatest Hits lineup:

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - Game of the Year Edition

$20 PSP:
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
Dissidia: Final Fantasy
LittleBigPlanet
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters
Resistance: Retribution
Toy Story 3: The Video Game

$10 PSP:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII

Some of those aren't even official price drops, though. While most of the PS3 titles just dropped $10, LBP PSP was already a Greatest Hits title, so was Resistance and Ratchet & Clank. AC: B and Dissidia were $20. MGS and Toy Story are real drops. Daxter was $10, and so was Killzone. Everything else is technically a cut. The big deal here is that these games will be shipping out fresh copies to stores, which is nice. Honestly, I just got a 32 GB Memory Stick, and I'm going all digital with games, because everything on the PSP store will be playable on the NGP. Not so much with UMD's.

Finally got the hang of the controls of RE2 and made it to the first save point. Then 5 minutes later I found the licker and promptly murdered. All the same, the game is starting to grow on me a bit.

How is the joypad on 3000's? I have 1000 and I can't stand it after awhile and I like playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 on it.

About the same? Honestly, I couldn't tell you if anything changed, and I believe nothing did.

Does Sony have something built in the firmware that makes it stop playing DVD's when you need to update the firmware? My PS3 was able to play DVD's last week and when I tried last night, it couldn't find the DVD in the tray. There was a updated of the firmware and now DVD's play.

Anybody decide to upgrade to Playstation Plus? I'm debating it as it seems to be a decent off, and you get 15 months for $50. I can see me trying a few games with the 1 hour trial.

I like the odd free PS1 game you get with it. Some others discounted. I also got to play the MK demo, so that was cool.

The big thing there is that you need to download 4, 6, 8, or more gigabytes to play a game for an hour. As a poor Canadian with internet traffic caps, that's a big chunk. And an hour really ain't much. Granted, if you like it, you can then buy a digital copy of that game through PSN, but it's usually more than, or equal to a physical copy's price.

I was on the fence at first, but the cloud saving sealed the deal for me. Love that feature. Comes in real handy as a way to backup/transfer individual saves that are otherwise copy protected (Dragon Age). I have a second ps3 in the bedroom so it's really convenient when my girl wants to watch some top model show on the larger living room tv and I just want to hack up some Darkspawn!

Inspired by the thread about punching the Domino's CEO in the face, I really love the (fake?) VP that stars in PS3 commercials. I would totally work in video games, if the business behaved how these commercials say they do.

Kevin Butler (portrayed by actor Jerry Lambert) is a marketing character used by Sony Computer Entertainment America as part of their It Only Does Everything advertising campaign for the PlayStation 3 in North America. He stars as the Vice President of various fictitious departments within the PlayStation division of Sony, responding to "Dear PlayStation" queries.[1] Due to the positive reception of the commercials, Sony extended them throughout the remainder of 2010[2] as well as into 2011. The character was created by Deutsch/LA, the advertising agency responsible for the campaign.[3] Deutsch/LA also manages Kevin Butler's Twitter account and wrote his E3 2010 speech.[4]

Anyone else having this problem with their controllers. When I connect the USB cable to them and try to play that way it constantly resets itself where the four lights on the controller keep flashing until I hit the PS3 button on it.

When I play without the USB cable it's fine and I have no issues. It all started after one of Sony's recent updates.

I would be standing in front of my TV to do that, so no, I'm not familiar with the problem. I AM familiar with the problem that you can't charge a controller unless the PS3 is turned on, despite the fact there is idle power I thought it could use.

I was also amazed to learn it took until 2011 for Sony to release a firmware update that let you set a time frame for controllers to turn off after a set amount of idle time.

Having those issues and the PS3 slowing up since the most recent update. I don't know what it even did positive. Seemed to deal with the 3D bullshit.

The last update I had said it was to allow setting an idle off time for the controller.

That was there before, just only with a 10min option.

http://www.shinyshiny.tv/2011/04/sony_takes_on_tablet_market_android_playstation_tablet.html
Sony have jumped into the tablet computer market with the Android-powered Sony Playstation S1 and S2 devices.

5_sonyplaystation-thumb-500x313-102695.jpg

Rumours suggest that the S1 and S2 Playstation tablets will be available from September and will cost $599 for a Wifi-only version.

Sony are hoping to carve a niche for themselves in tablet industry by using the name of their popular gaming console to target an audience different from the leisure users who are buying Apple's iPad and business users who are buying Blackberry's Playbook.

Limited specs available, but here's what we know so far:

- Android Honeycomb OS
- Chip: NVIDIA Tegra 2 processors, dual-core chips for mobile
- 9.4-inch screen on the S1
- The S2 - will be a variant on the S1 with two folding 5.5 inch screens, and barrel-shaped back

http://www.kotaku.com.au/2011/04/sony-has-a-second-clamshell-playstation-tablet/
Sony Has A Second, Clamshell PlayStation Tablet

In addition to the first PlayStation tablet device, the S1, Sony has today also unveiled a second, the S2, a tablet that can fold into a DS-like clamshell.

This gives it a slightly different approach to gaming; when folded into its clamshell form, the S2 can operate like a touch-screen DS, with controls on the bottom screen while the “top” screen is free to display nothing but action.

Both the S1 and S2 will be available in Spring in the USA, with no word yet as of pricing or local availability.

I'm still not 100% on-board with touch-screen gaming for "traditional" games. I love the iPad games, don't get me wrong.. they're designed to work with iPad and turn out great most of the time. But when you get traditional games that overlay touch-buttons on the screen (or a second screen in the S2's) case it just becomes annoying and I much prefer a physical controller/interface with buttons. Playing Mega Man 2 on iPhone is a pain in the ass whereas not-so-much on an NES with a controller. Same goes for Street Fighter.. I don't like having to glance at what button I am (or am not, in most cases) pressing during the middle of gameplay.

I'm sure this tablet will have games specifically designed for it, as well, though.

PSN is going back up next week. All users get a free mint of PSN+ with current members gtting an extra minh. No date is set for the PS store to return but it should be by the end of the month.

I'm glad I wasn't a PSN+ subscriber because I'd much rather get a free mint than a free minh.

Fresh breath, which will be helpful when you have to drive to your bank and explain what happened to all your money.
