I was considering doing that, but as of now, my 80 GB hard drive is doing the job fine (still have about 30 GB free). If I start filling it up quick, then I'll break down and get a new HDD. On a side note, in the PlayStation KB there is an article that tells you how to do it. This also does NOT void your warranty, which is always a plus.

I think I had a Western Digital HDD and it buckled within 6 months, or might have been the one that lasted forever. I'm too lazy to rip open the PC and find out, just thought I'd throw that cautionary tale out there. Losing all your Donkey porn isn't half as bad as losing your epic Demon's Soul save.

Is transferring the stuff from the old HDD to the new one as simple as copying them over or are there some hoops you have to jump through to do it successfully?

I don't want to lose all my game data and trophies, etc is all..

I believe there's a backup tool within the PS3's firmware itself that you can use with external hard drives and/or flash drives to move things over.

Holy fuck, Demon's Souls is kicking my ass. This game is seriously so fucking hard. I get pissed and wanna quit, and then I find myself playing it again a couple of hours later, trying to regain lost souls and advance to the next stage. I can't see myself ever finishing this. My patience will eventually run out.

Just beat Batman: Arkum Asylum. What an awesome game that was. Maybe it was due to my tempered expectations, even with all the great reviews and positive feedback, but man I really liked it.

I bought God of War collection, and man it seems even last-gen games were harder. I am already stuck on the first 2-head Hydra boss. Anyone remember a good strategy to take that thing down?

Was tempted to get God of War collection - any good?

Picked up Uncharted 1&2 yesterday, so far so good!

Turns out I need a 2mm jumper for this new hard drive.

At least I hope that's the problem, else I'm stuck with a useless hard drive.

It's worth it. Especially since you get 2 games for less than the full price of one. The fixed camera angles feels a little dated though. It didnt bother me when I played the games when they first came out, but it bothers me from time to time now. Probably because I'm spoiled from other games.

I found the fix camera angles a little weird to get used to, but after a few minutes I was used to using the right stick to dodge. Plus there aren't any real bad angles that interfere with the gameplay, so that helps.

Yeah, you're right.

I just finished God Of War and managed to beat it on hard mode. I beat it once before years ago, but I think I enjoyed it more this time around. It wasn't too difficult, but definitely incredibly frustrating at times. Got 80% of trophies, and was really close to maxing out all of my weapons but couldn't get that trophy in the end. I doubt I'll even try to get 100%. I have no interest in doing the challenge mode, and I don't see myself trying to beat the story mode in under 5 hours either.

Now I gotta play through God Of War 2 again, but I think I will hold off on that for now. I'm pretty burned out on button mashing. I'm gonna focus my gaming on Demon's Souls and MW2.

Really loving my PS3 now, had it for about 18 months, but only now have I actually used it for games. Before that it was a media center.

Uncharted 1&2 are great.
Demon's Soul is great.
LittleBIGplanet can't get enough of.

I need to use mine more because I've been the same with mine. I got mine in July 2008 and while I use it all the time for Blu-rays and have amassed a good amount of Blu-rays, I think I've only played games twice. I played MLB 08: The Show like a month or two after I got the system and I know I played Uncharted 1 once and that was probably even close to a year ago now. I really liked Uncharted and I have a decent amount of PS3 games I picked up including both R&C, both Uncharted and LBP but I usually just default to my 360 when I want to play something.

Aye, exactly the same. Would just grab things on the 360 first without any consideration for the PS3. However, since my falling out with the average Xboxlive user (all twats), and seeking refuge with the PS3 I'm liking it more. Whenever I go back on the 360 now it just feels very invasive on the actual game playing side of it with all the pop up indications of who's online and achievements unlocked. Plus its noisey as fuck, which I never noticed until playing the PS3.

I also think that most of my mates getting banned for being pirate scum has affected my 360 playing, since they're not on as much and won't get new games as they're unemployed bums.

Yeah my wife's cousin always trys to call the PS3 a "second-rate" video game system, and I keep trying to tell him that he is living in 2007 where he might have had a point.

In the last couple of years I would say that PS3 has as much if not more quality exclusive games, plus free online play, plus blu-ray player, plus now netflix ability etc etc etc. Oh and not to mention 360's failure rate.

In 2009/2010, I would say now buying a PS3 or Xbox360 comes down to merely which exclusive game franchises you prefer to own. If you are a Halo/Fable etc person buy the 360 if you are an Uncharted/GoW etc person get a PS3.

I know that is an oversimplification of it, but I am tired of still trying to justify to him and other Xbox fanboys why I bought a PS3 over the Xbox.

Oh by the way, How long are GOW and GOW 2? I wanna play through them before GOW 3 comes out in March. Currently I am playing the first GOW and just go to the save point after you meet that old burly guy digging a grave who says when the time is right he will be there to help me.

God Of War isn't that long. I'd say It'll take you from 9 to 12 hours to beat on your first playthrough. You're still up to the beginning though.
God Of War 2 will probably take you the same amount of time, man.

Finally got around to playing through the God of War 3 demo last night. The visuals are gorgeous, and the game play was more of the same tried and true GOW goodness. Don't know if I'll get it launch day, but I don't think I'll wait much after before getting it.

Anybody else play Demon's Souls? This shit is straight addictive. Over 20 hours into it, and I've only done 5 boss battles. I find myself level grinding most of the time, and it doesn't get boring.

A friend of mine recently lent me a couple of copied bluray movies that work fine on his PS3 and actually look pretty good for a non-original disc. I tried them on my PS3 and they won't work. The little clock at the top right just keeps moving but the movie doesn't boot up. I updated the firmware but had the same results. Any help?

I don't know, man. A couple of the Blu-rays I have rented from Netflix have taken 2-3 minutes to load up, and I've gotten one that didn't even work at all. I have the latest firmware for my PS3.

I hear the Blu Ray capabilities of the new slim PS3 is not the best. Could that be it? I have the 2008 model, and I've never had any problems with it in regards to Blu Rays.

Mine is an older 80GB model with backwards compatibility. I have no problems with original blurays, they boot up almost right away. Is copied blurays I have a problem with, which strikes me as a bit strange since they work fine in my friends' PS3 and he has pretty much the same model as I do.
