Okay, so everyone in the Madden thread says that PSN is awful when I told them I was going to switch from paying $50/year on Live to PSN and that you "get what you pay for." Anyone care to elaborate or dispute that point?

Having, sort of, made the switch over the last few months, it does take a little adjusting to get used to PSN. When you receive messages from friends you might not notice them until WAY after they were relevent, as there's no 'in game' pop up to inform you you've received one. This is the same for invites to games, not used within the game itself.

Yes there is. I get "Message Recieved" pop ups when I'm playing games.

We've just spent the last 10 messages covering the fact I had turned it off and forgot!

I picked up inFamous this weekend for $30, but probably won't play much of it till the Olympics are over....and my NHL 10 playoffs are over. I played a little bit of it, and enjoyed it so far. Then again, I played the shit out of the demo a few months back, so I knew what I was getting into.

Oh man, inFamous. I love that game. One of my favorites on the console. This summer, I fully plan to finish getting every trophy. I'm about 4 away.

It looks like it does have an obtainable platinum trophy, so that should help on the replay value of the game.

There are a few that are a pain in the ass, but nothing too hard. Just tedious.

Sounds about right. I just got a Platinum in Dead Space. Wasn't too hard, but it just took some time....took about 3 or 4 play-throughs. After the first time through the game, every other time felt like a speed run as I knew where everything was located, and what I needed to pass a certain section. Though the final time through on the impossible difficulty was annoying at times as 2 hits and your dead.

Did you go for the Dead Space platinum all in one shot, or did you play here and there and got it over a long span of time? I want to play Dead Space again, and maybe try for the platinum. I was on my second playthrough and then I got Killzone 2 and stopped DS. Haven't played it since. The only platinum I have is Uncharted 2 and I got it pretty quickly.

I played through the game 3 or 4 times in total to get all of the trophies. Got most of the trophies in the first playthrough, used to second playthrough to level up the weapons (which I finished shortly into the 3rd playthrough). The third playthrough I got the 1 gun trophy for beating the game with the plasma cutter, and the 4th was the impossible trophy. So yeah, looks like it was about 4 playthroughs and about 30 hours or so. I played it through a few times in a few weeks, and then left the game alone for a few months, and went back a few weeks ago to finish it off so I could trade it in.

Yeah, that was worded poorly on my part. I didn't mean one shot as in one playthrough. I just meant it as in a dedicated month of playing it or something like that. I might try it. I just hate the levels where you have to destroy the meteors. Hardest part of the game for me.

The hardest trophy by far was still having 50% or more of your shield left after the meteor part. Considering you start off with about 80% it's damn near impossible. I must have been close to an hour trying to get that bronze trophy

Playstation network is fucked. It seems anyone with the new slim model isn't having any problems, but everyone else can't connect to the network which makes any game with trophy capability DOA, since it is all tied in together when starting up the game.

This has been going on for most of today. A little early to call this major, but if it is still not fixed by morning, WOW.

Dumbasses fucked up leap years. It's rolling over to a day that doesn't exist (Feb. 29, 2010 to be specific) to calculate what time it is; guess who's getting fired for fucking up something as simple as leap year calculations?

Maybe they hired Initech, the company from Office Space to handle the software. Fuckin' Milton burning down Initech.

It's not really a network problem as much as a firmware problem as many people who dont even have it hooked up online are getting the same problem.

I was trying to load MLB 09 The Show for like a half hour before I jumped online and found out about the problem. I've read that trophies and save data for any game you tried to load could be corrupted, and if that happens to my Show files I will be majorly pissed off

Still hasn't been fixed btw, and my system's date had rolled back to 12/31/99. I fixed it manually but it didn't change anything

I was also trying to play The Show 09, but I really won't be too upset if the trophies and save data is lost since TheShow10 comes out tomorrow!

On the other hand...if this issue isn't fixed by tomorrow and I cannot play TheShow 10, I will be very angry.

Apparently Sony is saying not to even use your PS3 until the bug is fixed which they are saying should be w/in 24 hours. Yikes.

Don't use my PS3?

...

Well it looks like I've been protecting myself from this bug for quite some time now.

That means don't even turn it on, which means no blurays either. :(

I was planning on putting some time in with inFamous tonight now that the Olympics are over, but I guess that won't be happening now

This is balls, indeed. Though I have to shake my head at some of the comments I've seen online about people saying they're switching to a 360 because of this. 24 hours of downtime. As compared to the I-can't-even-count-how-many RROD's my friends have all experienced with their 360's. *sigh* Fools!

Anyway, I guess it's a Wii night for me, then. I've been meaning to spend more time on NMH2 anyway.

I'll be spending the week at my grandmothers open house. There's no PS3 there anyway. But there's a PS2! I think I'm going to bring Persona 3 and my memory card with me. I was on PSN yesterday afternoon with no problems, but I haven't been on since then.
