It's tacky as hell but in context of the times it doesn't bother me. Not that I want it on TV now or anything, of course. What does bother me is that someone was so proud of that headline that it had to be on the cover and not Rock/Hogan

Someone decided that more then three people needed to see Hunter’s bulging leg veins and that always bothered me.

Charles Robinson Vs Mike Chioda though? That would have been a feud.

I legit didn’t know that Billy Silverman was in WCW until the end let alone a part of the InVasion.

Have I mentioned Billy Silverman lives two towns over from me and I blocked him on Facebook cause he is a right wing dipshit?

Maybe we should just reconsider these “JBL is a sociopathic bully “ stories!

Story as I remember it was Silverman, being used to WCW, made the major error of booking himself in first class. Refs aren't supposed to do that and the WCW roster was hated as it was. Next thing you know JBL's worked up to a lather, as it were.

It's amazing WWF was able to overtake WCW considering how much crappier their roster was in 1998 but I tell ya, it goes to show you that great storytelling will override great work rate (and star power) 99 times out of 100 IMO.

Fitting cause Vince will probably make Albert dance again after he resumes power.

“But I’m an executive now, Vince! I’m not even an onscreen character!”
“I DON’T CARE! I WANNA SEE THE HIP HOP HIPPO DAMMIT!”
I was second row next to the aisle at this show. Don't forget that the first part of 2002 was dominated by "what" chants too. Yuck.

... I bought the shirt and brought a "¿QUE?" sign.

Taz and Spike were such a breath of fresh air at the time I was happy, just because they were being used and had what felt like a real reign in an era where the belts were monopolized by guys higher up the card. That Austin had neutered both of them was not to be spoken of.

Zoo Crew was the worst shit.

X-Factor held titles (including the Intercontinental). Kayfabe wise, they were exponentially better and way more relevant than Zoo Crew. Creatively? Slightly worse.

As far as mediocre attempts to try and get Too Cool’s popularity sustain after its expiration date, it was no Grandmaster Sexay & Steve Blackman.

Maybe it's because I'm in the acceptance stage of twelve stages of grief over Vince returning but I can kind of where they thought Zoo Crew would work. A stoic hoss that knows how to get down protecting Scotty 2 Hotty worked once before. And bald, hairy men acting wacky can be a fun time (see George Steele's late career). It's just obvious Albert was legit pissed to have this be a thing. And I mean I don't blame him, he was like Intercontinental Champion 3 months before and now he's got to save Scotty 2 Hotty from fading from relevance? I'd be pissed too.

T&A EXPLODES!

It's how a lot of great media is... while characters can be iconic, it always comes down to the story/plot. Nobody remembers the fantastic acting performance of a mediocre movie. Still, they remember stuff with solid but not exactly Oscar-worthy performances like Jurassic Park and Star Wars.

Guys like Rey Mysterio Jr, Dean Malenko, Eddie, Benoit, etc. had great matches in WCW but how many truly great storylines can you remember from their WCW days? There's a reason people remember the story (usually) more than the random slew of 3* matches they had on Monday Nitro or Thunder. Crow Sting and Hogan had one of the best feuds in wrestling history, even with a letdown PPV match and people remember the feud more so than the payoff match.

Los Boricuas EXPLODE!

(complete with 1998 late night TV ads. That PSA for looking both ways at the train wreck is legitimately intense! Not gonna see any cars with kids in them getting T-boned by trains on PSAs in 2022 probably!)
