Yeah, so then Sephiroth revives from being "dead" in the Northern Crater right? The one you fight at the end of the game is the real deal right?

And Ruby and Emerald weapon....were they really added in just the American version? How did they do that?

Japanese RPG's do this ALL the time. They get the game first, then the American version comes out with a new boss or a new dungeon or a new character or what not. Then a bit later the Japanese get the game again, in what is usually called the international addition, that includes whatever bonus the Americans got, and usually yet even more added just for that version.

EFA and with much anger... FINAL MIX, I WANT IT.

FF2 doesn't look good and I've heard really bad things about it, but 1 was fairly decent. Not something I'll probably ever play again, but an enjoyable experience overall.

I must be in the minority, but I have never been able to stomach to play a Final Fantasy game. That being said, I'm not exactly an RPG or anime fan by any stretch, so there isn't really anything to draw me into the games anyway.

I started playing 12 again. Somehow I've put 15 hours into the file I fired up, but my characters are only about level 20. I forgot how slow the leveling up is in that game. Maybe I'll actually finish it.

For some reason I'm playing my PS2 more than my 360 these days. I even went to Gamestop and got an S-video cable for it.

There's a FF series thread...somewheres...that could be bumped.

I just beat FFVIII today and I didn't really like it. Aside from drawing being annoying as hell (granted you can avoid much of it after disc 1 but holy crap is it awful early on), there seemed to be a lot of basic things with the interface that I felt was a step back from VII.

In Final Fantasy VII, you could use select to toggle help features. Things like arrows to point to you where on the pre-rendered backgrounds you could enter/exit an area. The lack of this in FFVIII led to me running around past hidden doors in the backgrounds frequently.

Also, while in battle the help features in FFVII would tell you what an item/spell would do, and after using Sense to check an enemy's stats and weaknesses, it would allow a counter of the enemy's remaining HP. In FFVII, this would be extremely helpful when using Morph materia to get items, since you could more easily tell when it would be good to stop attacking and trying to morph.

In FFVIII, not only is Scan an exhaustable spell (which is annoying since I used it more than most other spells), but there's no way to enable a running counter of the enemy's HP as you knock it down, so you have to subtract it in your head. Thankfully, the messages about what spells/items do, while they don't work the same way as in FFVII's help, are viewable when battles are paused.

But what makes the Scan thing more annoying is that in FFVIII, you'll want to often use the Card ability a lot (which is basically like Morph, but it involved the extra step of choosing whether to keep the card or refining it for items) not only to get cards/items, but to AVOID getting XP, because for the most part, leveling up your character is actually bad, which is another annoying thing. Fine, I don't want to grind anyway, but making leveling up something I have to put extra time and effort into *avoid*ing kind of defeats the point of developing a system that discourages grinding.

Plus, getting all those great abilities that help you avoid grinding requires you to...grind for AP, anyway.

All and all, it's at least an ambitious set of gameplay systems. The less said about the plot, though, the better. :p

I played it right after a replay of FFVII. Which I had 100x more fun with. :p

I'm considered giving it another shot, but it'd have to wait at least until I finish IX. I just picked up a copy of it through Goozex.

Vii PC re-release is out. 9.99 for the first 30 days, then it'll cost 11.99. No word if it still uses SecuRom but I assume it does.

I've been playing Final Fantasy Tactics on my iPad and I'm in love.

So fun. I only vaguely remember it from PS1 but I do remember enjoying it a lot and that still holds true.

VII is going to be one of the first PSOne ports compatible with the Vita.

I still haven't beaten FFII but as much as I played it it was pretty bad. I is certainly not atrocious though.

Oh yeah. II is pretty much broken. Sad, too, as it has one of the better developed stories of any NES era game.

Are 1 and 2 worth the $12.99 or whatever to play on the iPad after I finish Tactics?
Is it $12.99 for both games? That's not too bad, I guess. 1 is one of my favorite games of all time, but a lot of that is nostalgia fueled. It hasn't aged all that well, even with all the updates I'm assuming the iOS version has. It's still totally worth playing if you've never tried it out before.

2's "leveling up" system is terrible, but the game can be a lot of fun if you can get past that.

The Android version of FF1 requires you to be online to play, which I didn't know when I bought it or I wouldn't have. Even better after failing to connect a few times Slayer's copy deleted his save files. BUT AT LEAST HE DIDN'T PIRATE IT!

I got the re release of ffvii. The new resolution only applies to the actual graphics which look upscaled then softened into niceness. The pre renders are horrid pixelated affairs moreso than when it was 1997.

After playing it for a couple of hours I've decided I hate the new music. Almost every tune I've heard so far actually sounds worse than the original. I thought it was just that it was different and I needed to adjust, but no they suck. Some of them sound almost like midi music.

There's a fix for it if you go on GameFAQs FFVII Message Board. I can't believe the original and this one used MIDI music.

I think I'm finally about done with Theatrhythm...for now. I've unlocked everything, including all characters, and gotten all characters to level 99. Beaten a bunch of dark notes including level 99 ones with Chaos in them, and gotten an S rank on all stages and courses on Ultimate. Haven't gotten S on all basic and advanced yet, but that's just a matter of taking the time to do it, so I'm not really motivated to do it, and filling all the critical charts isn't going to happen, so yeah I think I can finally put the game away for awhile. Insanely addicting though.
