What's the purpose of gaining levels and becoming stronger if everything else becomes stronger too and it's all moot?

Isn't that what happened in 8? Hell now I remember why I didn't like that game.

The enemies don't get harder in FFXIII as you level. They did in 8, which was annoying, but it worked ok. The higher the level the enemy the better items they had usually.

Been playing the redone FFIV on my iPad. Nice seeing Cecil and Kain in 3d and voice acted. Can only hope FFVI gets this treatment!

They probably wont just to troll the fanbase. You want a VII remake? OK, but only after we've made a game better than VII. Here have another remake of the original!

Rumor is Final Fantasy X HD will come with Final Fantasy X-2 HD. I'd say that decreases the value of the product, but rumor also is that both will also be based on the international versions, which means dark aeons and Penance. Can't wait to get destroyed by them!

I'm surprised that graphically, the game hasn't aged as terribly as I thought it would've.

Though, seriously, 2 games for Vita? Jesus man.

Yeah that seems like an odd choice. I can't imagine X-2 selling anywhere nearly as well as X.

Should be an all-in-one bundle, yeah. I do hope they are doing Crossbuy on it though as I'll probably just want it for Vita.. but it would be nice to have the option to play on PS3 w/o having to buy it again (and transfer saves).

The fact the vita ones are being sold individually makes me think they won't be doing crossbuy, but you never know I guess.

Same here. For being a late 2001 release, this is still one of the best looking PS2 games.

Final Fantasy Lightning Returns (XIII-3) will be released 'worldwide' this fall. I didn't expect to see it until 2014, and I really liked XIII-2, so color me mildly excited.

Apparently it got pushed back at some point because I just saw an ad that said February 2014. That would have been fine as the original release date, but now that I was expecting this fall that blows.

Ugh. When are they gonna get rid of this horrible FFX3 cast of characters?

So I watched the trailer for FFXV, formerly Versus XIII... can someone tell me what makes this different from a regular FF game? I was blown away by the gameplay and the trailer so I'm just wondering what's different.

It looks like it's going to be an action RPG instead of the turn based system FF has been using pretty much since forever.

Nice redbottoms, guys... o_O

The only crystal left to the world lies in the Kingdom of Lucis. Upon striking a peace with the garrison state of Niflheim, Lucis rejoices in having at last brought the cold war to a close. Their celebrations, however, are premature. Under the guise of amity, Niflheim dispels the anti-armament runewall and launches a full-scale invasion of the kingdom. The peaceful lives Crown Prince Noctis and his entourage once knew are consumed by the flames of war as they struggle to mount a resistance.

Noctis Lucis Caelum: A childhood affliction endowed Noctis, heir apparent to the throne of Lucis, with the mystical power to see a heavenly light, through which he could sense others' deaths. Noctis rejects rigid royal conventions and acts as somewhat of a renegade, much to the dismay of those who tend to him. Yet while "Noct" may act brash at times, he does so in defense of those loyal to him.

Gladiolus Amicitia: As lord of the noble House Amicitia, Gladiolus continues a line sworn to protect the crown. "Gladio" shares a friendship with Noctis that transcends birth and title, and his loyalty to his liege is born not of duty, but of brotherhood.

Ignis Scientia: Ever the unwavering voice of reason, Ignis was weaned on shrewd logic and a classical education from boyhood so that he might one day counsel the would-be king, Noctis. He applies the deep mutual understanding and trust they have built over time to help smooth over Noctis's brusqueness with others.

Prompto Argentum: The puckish playboy Prompto befriended Noctis in his school days. He wears a chip on his shoulder as an outsider to the royal circle, but remains eager to do all he can for the cause.

Cor Leonis: A living legend of Lucian lore, Lord Commander Cor Leonis's devotion to the art of war is surpassed only by that to his king. Little love is lost between the ill-starred stalwart and Noctis's retinue, yet honor binds him to keep watch over the group all the same.

Congrats on beating Yiazmat. Tough as hell to do.

You know, I honestly think that if you are going to put in secret boss like that, it should be the actual end boss. Like to get the best ending out of the game. Not some special item, but the actual end fucking boss. You get the true ending if you fight this boss. I mean, wouldn't it be cool to have to fight something that tough and get like an epilogue out of the deal? I always thought so. I digress, wrong place for this discussion.

FFXV isn't going to end the franchise. Its been well known that it would be a modern looking Final Fantasy since the get go. The problem is that it was originally supposed to be attatched to FFXIII which in hindsight is hilarious that both Agito and XV now aren't because of how bad XIII bombed in terms of what SquareEnix wanted to do with it. I'm not saying it was bad in terms of sales or story, but just that it didn't do what they wanted it to do. Which was make XIII's world a really diverse and wonderful one.

I think everyone would've loved XIII if you didn't need the encyclopedia in the game to understand most of the plot. A good game allows you to absorb all this information on the go. Encyclopedia's are supposed to be there if you want extra information that has no bearing on the plo. The problem was I had to bust that information out of the encyclopedia time and time again. It was frustrating. I'm really hoping XV's is just straight forward. It would be nice.

And if you want to play the "ruined a good franchise" card, the series has been ruined for awhile now. It started the moment they started making actual sequels to the single title games. Did X really need a sequel? Really? You can't mean a game that ended on such a bitter, but wonderful ending needed one. Sure, FX-2 is a solid sequel. But it wasn't necessary. The moment they decided it was is when the franchise was "ruined".

At least that's the way I feel. Of course, that's just my opinion. YMMV.

Now more than ever, what we need to save the world is a K-pop band. This franchise remains dead to me.

Agreed on all counts. For as much trouble as Yiazmat was, I was annoyed by the lack of any good reward, or alternate ending, or anything: What the hell is 30K gil worth, at that stage in the game? Not even a half-decent cutscene. A second-rate sob story with Montblanc and his five siblings? They couldn't even bother to name all five!

I just know that I'm never going to get that Order of Ambrosia rank: I'll never complete the SPD, because I completely suck at quickenings.

Not feeling the sequels thing, either: I always thought that FF's move was non-sequential, non-related, self-contained worlds/stories, with a few common elements. Hell, I kind of wish they'd go back to being able have seperate classes, like in I, or distinct, non-duplicative skills, that not every character can learn. All of the materia/licenses/accessories/etc. are cool the first time, but they make things inconvenient if you ever want to do an enforced-class challenge.

The reason why the went to the materia/licenses/accessories was to allow more people who just don't care to jump in and play out how they wanted. An ease of access thing that can and usually does, lower the experience of the adventure.

I think allowing people access to all weapons, items, etc, but the characters have boosts/demerits when using things they are relatively good or negative at. It would still allow you to use whatever if you wanna be lazy, but it would probably be the best system. Not enough to punish you, but enough to go "maybe I shouldn't let Cloud use Holy, he's not very good with it" or "maybe I should let Kefka use fire since he's good with burning things".

It always struck me as odd that they didn't use a system like that.
