Is the redo of FF3 any good? I noticed they put it up on PSN recently.. I'd rather have the classic NES-looking 8-bit version, but if this is all I can get for my Vita, then so be it.

Yea really. It gets worse. All this game needed was Aeris' Theme to make it the saddest story ever told in a game.

I dont think i ever had more than 1 playthrough with FFX when i had it for PS2, i know I loved it and now i know why. The hymn of the faith is as catchy as i remember.

I got it for Christmas in '01. The ending made me remember my dad who passed away a few months before. It tore me up.

Three copies of SNES Final Fantasy 3 (VI) and not a single one can be located. I have the PS1 version but no PS1 memory cards for my PS2.

Just went search at my parents' house, specifically digging in my sister's room and found 3 PS1 memory cards. Bout to get my game on.

Damn, ive just got the Kilika after my first real fight with Sin. Such a sad game :(
I think this is the only time a video game made me full-on cry. (A few other times came close; Aeris's sea burial, Sniper Wolf in MSG1, etc, but didn't tip over the bucket.) The whole religion up to that point had sounded like so much bullshit, especially since so much of it was taken directly from drownball. But the moment that Yuna actually does the Sending, with all the natives praying for the souls of their dead... cried like a baby.

This must be the first time I've did a run through of this game since moving in with the Mrs. Cyan seeing his family on the ghost train hit me in the heart more than it normally does. *shrug*

Had to stop not long after that and go to work for four straight nights, no time to play during the day. Have some speaking engagements Monday and Tuesday morning, hopefully I can at least get to the world of ruin by Wednesday morning.

Final Fantasy Type-0 is FINALLY getting an English release. YES YES YES. It'll be a ps4 and xbone HD remaster, but I don't think anyone is going to cry that it's not going to be on PSP. A Vita release would have been cool though.

What about a US release for Theatrhythm 2? Has anything been announced for that, since that's kinda the only thing in the FF series I care about anymore.

I've decided I'm going to start referring to my cat as "Gau" since they're both feral, generally good, but if you piss them off turn ferocious.

If only I can nail down an acceptable pronunciation of "Gau" I'd be good. For that matter a lot of these characters have names with pronunciations that can go a few different ways that can cause slight conversational awkwardness irl.

Mog - I always rhymed with "dog" but a friend that's big into Japanese culture says it's "mOHg."
Sabin - I've always rhymed it as the cajun last name "Babin" (Baa-bin) but it's possible it rhymes with "Saban" like Nick Saban.
Celes - Is it "Sell-ess" or "Sah-leez" ?
Gau - Single, two, or three syllables? I've heard it so many ways.
Kefka - pretty sure "Kef-ka" and not "keef-ka", right?

Ah, Final Fantasy pronunciations before voices gave us them. It is fun trying to figure out how it was done.

As for what you've got, Sabin and Kefka are generally the accepted version. Mog is pronounced the second way, instead of the first (based on other games).

The general accepted version for Celes is Sell-ess, but after Square made Cecil into Se-cil pronunciation, Celes technically should follow that naming convention. Therefore, it technically should be Se-leez.

As for Gau, it should be the two syllable way. Gau is feral like you mentioned. A two syllable name would be closer to a feral sound than a real name. I do get why people would use 3, but that's taking the feral concept a little too far.

Going by the Japanese writing Gau is pronounced "ga-oo."And Mog is indeed pronounced that way, but they also call Moogles "moh-gu-ri" so I wouldn't worry about that.

If I ever heard someone say Keef-ka, I would slap them.

It has been ages since I've played it, but I'm pretty sure Dissidia calls him Kef-Kah.

Got an e-mail that my collector's edition of Theatrhythm Curtain Call shipped. I doubt it's actually in the mail yet since it doesn't release until next week, but I'm still incredibly excited. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY FREE TIME.

I went back and found my confirmation e-mail just to see if I had for some reason selected 'FUCKING AMAZINGLY SLOW' as my shipping method.

Shipping: $7.99 USPS (5-7 business days)
They shipped it out a week ago. EVERYONE WILL DIE IN A BLOODY MASSACRE.

The trailer for Final Fantasy XV is up. I'm on my phone so I don't have a link handy. I fanboyed all over myself though. The graphics are unbelievable, and uncanny valley stuff. There is driving involved and the classic FF theme plays at the end of the trailer.

Was gonna wait for a sale but gave in and used a 20% voucher for GMG to pick up FF IV, the opening cinematic they made for it alone was worth the price, then when I started it up and heard that music, total nostalgia boner.
