Dave just said on twitter that he thinks Becky is an all around better performer than Trish and a bunch of people are losing it. That's like the least insane thing .Dave has said since the New Year. Pick your battles!
Yeah that isn't controversial at all. I love Trish but Becky is clearly a better all-around performer than her. A huger number of women in the business are now.
I mentioned this in chat just the other day. But Ultimo's got like three absolute classics under his belt and the rest of his body of work is decidedly mediocre. He's basically El Samurai.
Gran Hamada debut: March 16, 1972
Ultimo Dragon debut: May 13, 1987
Come the fuck on, Jack.
That doesn't even take into account he luchadors like Mil Mascaras and Dos Caras who went to Japan and were stars and influenced the next generation of Japanese workers either.
There is a difference between that and the specific style Jack is talking about though. A lot of these guys were specifically influenced by Ultimo and the Toryumon/Dragon Gate style. No one is claiming that lucha style didn't exist in japan or anything like that before Ultimo. But the lucharesu style that's been all over the indies since like 2001-03 is different.
Meltz predicted ratings for AEW would fall due to building up future matches and airing Kenny Omega's comedy hour.
Meltz also revealed Jericho/Hardy at the Hardy Compound is not for sure happening, despite the challenge being televised. This was one of the moments where WWE would be harped on for 10 mins, but they let it go pretty fast despite agreeing they did not like the idea of pushing matches that are possibly not happening,
Weren't they on like HDnet or something during the Cornette era. Not that I think they'd have gotten anywhere close to a million or that Cornette would do any better with the book but they're two totally different companies in different situations.
Not sure where else to post this since we don't have a catch all wrestling journalism (and I'm not sure if we need one) but 411Wrestling writer Larry Csonka died today. He reviewed pretty much every current wrestling show, from the huge PPVs to ROH house shows and TNA Xplosion. I read an interview with him very recently where he said he reviewed 40 hours a week or a similarly insane number. Really going to miss reading reviews. Just had a straight forward, no BS style.
Sounds like it was pretty sudden. I think he was only in his early-mid 40s. He was reviewing stuff as recently as Saturday and his last tweet from yesterday was about feeling terrible all of a sudden.
