Looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say on the multiplayer. Haven't played COD since Modern Warfare 2, but enough time in the Borderlands has me kinda craving disposable deathmatches, especially now that it's getting cold and shitty outside and my preferred Saturday activities involve never leaving the house, ever.

Have you played it yet, Corey? I have my copy but I need to wait til work is over with. It's been getting some pretty favourable reviews from what I've read.
Not yet. I'll be picking it up this week, though. I kept meaning to pre-order and kept forgetting, but I need to do a Walmart run anyway, so I'll nab it then.
EDIT: Apparently Michael Rooker plays a character in the campaign mode. :D
YES.

They took out Support streak? Damn. I loved that since I usually only go 2-3 kills at best before getting picked off by some glitch-exploiting douche.

It still resets after you die.

Still no buy.
edit: nm I see what you're saying now. Which game were support streaks in? I don't remember that in the first BO. I did notice that I was getting points when people got kills while my UAV was active.

First impressions of MP - it's very smooth. Makes BF feel kind of.. Not clunky but less smooth by comparison. Really love the new HUD. Need to get used to COD controls again, though..

It was in MW3. That's the only game in the series I was motivated enough to Prestige and it was the support streaks that did it.

Ahh yeah, they didn't rid of those, per se. That sounds like something Infinity Ward does for just the MW game. Treyarch and Black Ops/WAW has a bit of a different set up. ;)

I hadn't played a CoD game online in a while until today. Damn they got the mutliplayer running fast and smooth. Gone are the days where I could smoke a cigarette in between matches.

I guess it is par for the course with a COD game that the servers are a complete clusterfuck for at least the first week. When I can get into a match I do have a lot of fun. I am really digging the new class system and some of the new game modes. I don't remember Hard Point/Line being a mode before and it's pretty fun. I generally don't play death match modes so the more objective modes they add, the better, IMO.

I haven't encountered so much as a little lag let alone trouble connecting. Honestly it's maybe the most inviting online experience I've had (not a big online fan usually)

The party games are super fun. One in the chamber felt like I was playing goldeneye back in the day.

I'm not sure but I gather from the forums that a lot of the issues with servers are happening on PS3, unfortunately.

The campaign mode on this game is, easily, the best campaign mode in a modern FPS I've encountered yet. The only one(s) that come close are the Bad Company games, and those are just due to the humor.

Dama, you need to get this game if you're interested in it at all. The campaign itself is great.

After getting used to them, I love the Strike Force missions. They blend RTS and FPS gameplay into one fairly well. The first one took me a couple of tries to complete without failing, but then I did the second one (the strike on the freighter) and I realized it's basically just Search & Destroy only for the Story Mode. It also incorporates the only worthwhile element from Battlefield 2: the ability to switch control of which Strike Force teammate you're playing as at your whim.

The new weapons are fucking magnificent, too, and the new system for equipping yourself with gadgets and perks and weapon attachments is wonderful. The gameplay, itself, is still looser than the Infinity Ward games, but BO2 handles better thus far than BO did, at least for me.

It's a shame that so many people never even touch the campaigns in these games. The stories in BO1&2 are pretty fun and make for a great diversion from the multiplayer stuff.

Also, speaking of MP, I forgot how much I loved that crossbow. :)

Damn, Tranzit is insane. I forgot how incredibly nuts the COD Zombies mode gets after sticking primarily to L4D/L4D2 for a few years with only minor time playing WAW/BO.

My only problem with MP is the same problem the first BO had, and that's really awful spawn algorithms that get you popping up in spots with the enemy at your heels. That said, I'm digging the crap out of the LSAT LMG and all the customization that the load-outs have (as far as not even giving yourself a secondary weapon, having extra perks from the same tier, etc). Right now I'm going the LSAT with Grip and Target Finder, 2 shocks, 1 frag, Blind Eye, Cold-Blooded, Engineeer, and the Crossbow. I don't like being the pussy with the TF, but it helps with lots of the darkened areas, and really you should just be rocking cold-blooded and shit, regardless.

I might have to give up the Crossbow though, as I don't seem to have much luck finding situations it's useful in that I can't just shoot the shit out of. (I used it primarily in BO1 to clear out windows)

That's pretty awesome.

Wasn't happy to hear that you can now play as a zombie, because I was kinda worried they were gonna fuck with Zombie mode too much, but it must just be some kind of perk or wonder weapon or something.

My roomate got the season pass just a little while ago, so we've been rocking Nuketown Zombies; while TranZit is neat, I find it takes a long time to get going, and it's refreshing to play a much simpler map.

The play as a zombie thing is a separate game type within zombies.

Yeah, it's basically Infected from MW3 but with zombies.

I'm not sure how I feel about a downloadable weapon. If it's a shitty weapon, then you feel kinda shitty for having to pay for it (even if it's just a little extra on top of the DLC) and if it's too good a weapon than people that don't pay the extra money are going to feel shitty if you either don't pay for it or if it floods the game and everybody uses it because it's so powerful. The idea of an SMG/Assault rifle hybrid is intriguing though. I kinda like the semi-auto and burst guns having a possible auto mode at the expense of accuracy. I really miss that PP90M1 though.

Yeah, looks pretty swank. I just hope they found a nice balance between TranZit and Die Rise; I found TranZit was too complex for what I want in a zombies map, while Die Rise was just slightly not enough. I found the map confusing at first, but I get it now, and once you turn the power on (which is easy to do in round 1) Pack a Punch is always available - I kinda like having to do something extra to get Pack a Punch, gives you a goal, you know?
