I couldn't get the Thai clinch down for shit. I went thru the tutorial..played around with Shogun but just couldn't seem to get the clinch to work for me.

Chuck's Superman punch however...I can see that being overly used due to its effectiveness..

You have to flick the right stick to sway your opponent into position and then hit RB and an attack button for a knee. It takes a little while to get the timing down but Lei is right, once you do it is powerful.

Anyone open up a real gusher of a cut yet? I got one on Chuck that basically turned his entire eye red and had blood splattered on his body AND Shogun's.

On which difficulty?

I was wondering how many fights you guys have played. I understand that not everyone has mentally kept track of records like I have, but after reading an article in which the writer states that he played roughly 200 matches in one day, I feel like I'm way behind.

I downloaded the demo on 4/23 and played a ton the first 5 days or so, but have only gotten to play on 3-4 nights since. I've had 106 fights with the CPU, with the chosen fighter probably being Liddell 60% of the time and Rua 40% of the time. Besides my first 15 fights, all the rest have been on Advanced. I'm 86-20, with probably 14 of those losses coming while playing as Rua. I also played multiplayer for the first time on Saturday and went 10-0.

I feel like I'm pretty good, but my defense is not on par with my offense. And I absolutely hate playing against Liddell. Most of those losses I suffered came via surprise knockouts, wherein the screen never even turned black and white. Just one punch/kick knockouts after I controlled the fight. In fact, I just had 4 such losses in a row tonight, after never losing more than 2 in a row before.

So, how much have you guys played?

Im actually fed up with the demo now, while its still fun to knock the shit out of liddell or shogun, im bored having to use the same fighters in the exact same match.

Roll on release date.

I got some blood spatter from Liddell all over Rua's chest. Looked like a bullet wound on Rua, just nasty.

It took 2 fights to get the hang of not getting my shit ruined, but once I figured out how to head kick it was cake. Rocked Liddell 10 seconds in and then just pummeled him until finally getting the KO strike early in round 2.

It looks fun, but considering it's THQ I'm afraid that it's going to get horribly repetitive in a hurry, and being a first incarnation it'll be prone to ultramoves that everybody spams.

So is this demo a free download? Or do I need to sign up for Xbox Live again?

I think it's Live Gold exclusive, but don't quote me on that.

Body kicks with Shogun = win.

Can't really get his clinch down but finding his range with his kicks is devastating. By the middle of the 3rd, Chuck had some rather large red welts on his sides from all the kicks..

Oh, and I figure I'll ask it here since it pertains to some of the commentary...

What exactly is a "mouse"? I feel like an idiot for not knowing when I've heard it used tons of times in both MMA and boxing but could never find a definitive answer for it.

Nope. I got it and I'm only Silver. It used to be a gold only but it's now a silver.

And yes I did just quote you on that.

Thanks. I don't have think I have Gold, and I wanted to play it over the weekend so I wouldn't be killed by you guys. ^_^;;

So if we're doing a league on Xbox, how are we going to determine a championship title match? Just everyone in a big tournament then?

Saw it earlier. Not particularly pleased with some of the overall ratings, but some of the style assignments are simply fucking odd. Wanderlei Silva, wrestler?

I like how only two people use Judo. Why bother including that as a technique then?

It'd probably depend on how many players we have in each weight class. I'd be up for playing as 1 fighter in each separate class, myself. But while I do favor a democratic method of deciding how this all will work, I feel that KingPK should have the final say since it was he who suggested that we have a league.

I've been practicing my Muay Thai and I'm definitely seeing the advantages of it. The superman punch for kickboxing however is still going to be spammed like crazy.

Right now I'm just working on different tactics, trying to learn to box and mix up my combos as well as practicing my ground and pound and transitions.

I'm down for a fighter per weight class and wouldn't mind each of us being assigned a number and a random number generator deciding who gets the picks..

That's actually what I was thinking. I believe there are 16 fighters per weight class so 16 people would be the max for this (I doubt we'll have that many). I think you can only do exhibition matches online, so I would probably post a schedule for fights (probably one weight class per week) and everyone would report their results to me in a thread or by PM. I think a round-robin double elimination (you lose twice and you are done) format would be best. For example, if we have 8 people then we'd go until four are eliminated and then match up the remaining four in the semis with the winners going in the finals.

I also suggest we try this with just one weight class to start so we can see if everyone will be committed to going all the way through it. Plus, if someone wants to drop out afterwards, we can start anew in the next weight class with someone else taking their spot.

EDIT: Yeah, I completely missed HTQ's post. Some classes have more than 16, but we can work with that.

Meh, I have back-ups for all of 'em really..

Only person on that list I'd be crushed to not get is Tito..mainly because when I got into MMA, I became a fan of Tito and will defend him to anyone.
