Not sure if this should go here or in the questions thread but what is Brian Last's origin story?

I know he was an old school smark since he was a teenager in the early '90s and regularly calling into John Arezzi and Vince Russo's radio shows but how did he get from there to being Jim Cornette's right hand man? Is he a money mark like Conrad or did Corny just like his other old school pro wrestling podcasts?

Thanks in advance for answering @BruiserBrody . I'll hang up and listen.

Conrad used to run in the old newsletter scene as well. I remember way back Scotsman and him were competitors. Last probably was the same

Is it ever brought up on Cornette's podcast that Brian Last was an early supporter of Vince Russo since presumably he now agrees with Corny that Russo is the scourge of the wrestling industry?

Last was somehow going to Cornette's SMW fan weeks even though he was still a teenager, so Cornette's legit known him for nearly 30 years.

I'm more curious about what happened to his old co-host, the woman whose name I never learned.

Alice left the show after Jim went on a super hateful Muslim rant. She was more or less painted as a useless bitch afterwords by Jim.

I think she just did the opening talk for Killing The Town.

All I can add is Alice went on to send Lance Storm nudes of herself that he did not ask for.

Last came from a family of some wealth, and worked in the music industry.

Given both men collect wrestling history, I'd wager he and Jim connected over the years over such things behind the scenes and when Corny and Alice blew up in 2015, Last swooped in with his tech/radio know how and took over the role.

If he and Corny were not clearing 300K+ a year I'm not sure he would actually be "retired" or if he'd still be in some business other than watching his stock portfolio. I believe he's up to 4 kids now, and has a big house.

Going by the show it would seem Last was born in the early 80s so he would have been around 13/14 when he first met Corny.

He sounded high school aged when he was calling into Russo and Arezzi’s shows.

I can’t imagine a 13/14 year old traveling to Knoxville to hang out with Jim Cornette but Bix subscribed to WON as a 5 year old so who knows?

Oh man...Hogan on Rogan is 3 hours...

Hogan talks about his travels, 400+ matches a year, yada yada..

Hulk claims he was tracking Brock when Lesnar was in college. He then mixes up the timeline and says he feuded with Brock after Lesnar's UFC run.

The Hulkster should be terrified of Rogan's habit of having his guy Jamie fact checking stuff.

Talk of the Slap Fights leads to Hogan admitting Scary Sherri KO'd him once during a match with the Macho Man.

Hogan goes over getting the role in Rocky 3. He says Vince Sr fired him from the WWF, but also says Vince had arranged for him to start in JCP and that was what was messed up during the filming.

I'm a little sad the lies per minute aren't coming like in the Theo interview. They have spent a lot of time on Hogan's injuries, surgeries and what not.

We go into an extended discussion on sharks. We see clips of Hogan doing a movie (Escape from Devil's Island) where they had to film Hogan scuba diving next to a live shark that had been tied down in place.

Hogan talks about his NWO run in the WWF vs the Rock. He talks about hitting Rock with a hammer and Joe is baffled that Hogan could use a real hammer and not hurt Rocky. Hogan gets his own age wrong by 5 years and makes himself much older for the match.

Mike Graham was Hulk's high school classmate (???) and they didn't get along as Graham was a jock and Hogan was a musician.

After Hiro Matsuda broke Hogan's leg, his dad was pissed at him for getting beat up and pounded on Hogan to give him an old school lesson.

Hogan says he wound up training for 2 years, meanwhile guys like Mr. Wonderful came in and graduated from the wrestling school in 6 months.

Rogan talks about how the Pride MMA guys were based in Japan (Takada) and Hogan spins his own story from this about how the Pride fighters were in New Japan back in the 70s. Hogan was worried about working them because they were all huge. He's only 20 years off.

Hogan was used by Matsuda to wear out other potential trainees. Once Hogan wore them out, the door would be sealed shut and Matsuda would start the torture.

It took 18 months for Hogan to realize Pro Wrestling was a work. Eddie Graham came in to train with Hogan one day and Hogan thought this guy was going to mangle him, but Graham finally revealed the secret and Hogan began learning how to "work" instead of shoot.

Matsuda was a "God" in Japan. He went over with Hogan on the Hulk's first tour and got him over instantly as his second.

Hogan claims on the night he was set to beat the Iron Sheik for the belt, Vince Sr and Bob Backlund confronted him and told him they felt a real athlete should be the champ and so Hogan's deal is off. Hogan told them he just burnt his bridge with Verne Gagne and since he isn't getting the belt, Hulk's going to call Verne and mend fences. Vince Jr got involved and smoothed things over and Hogan won the belt that night.

Kurt Angle had the NCAA mentality in his head during their early matches and he'd grind Hogan on the mat. Hogan didn't dig that and asked Angle WTF? Angle told him Vince Jr told him to mess with Hogan as a rib.

Austin Idol did the hand cup to his ear when Hogan was working in Alabama with him. So Hogan took it for his gimmick. He also took "Idol-mania" and made it his own.

The shirt tearing gimmick came from teaming with the Hi Flyers against Adnan's Sheiks. Brunzell and Greg tore his shirt off before the match and the place erupted.

In a fine piece of irony, Hogan makes fun of people who make up stories about having met him or hung out with him in places he's never been.

Gene Hackman and Brad Pitt would come to L.A. and watch Hogan wrestle.

Hogan fibs and says he and Macho Man would trade the World title back and forth plenty of times and everybody made money. Since Piper wouldn't put Hogan over, he missed out on a lot of paydays. In WCW Hogan put Piper over all the time as Hollywood Hogan. "It's a work, who cares who wins?" LOL for the Hulk of all people saying this.

Lots and Lots and Lots of God talk to finish up.

This 3 hours may be the mildest and most introspective we've ever seen from the Hulkster, with only a sprinkling of BS to spice things up.

"You speak the truth"- Joe Rogan.

FYI - Since I'm sure I'm the only one to sit through that whole thing, at the end of the Hogan episode they announced Rogan's wrestling nerd/comedian friend is starting a weekly podcast with Flair in a couple of weeks.
2 Flair pods to ignore in one week!
(Actually, the comedian one might provide some nuggets of fun by covering more than Conrad's wrasslin' and gentle son in law "gee shucks" style.)

Shane Douglas has a new podcast. First episode drops this week.

I think he had one like 7/8 years ago that I don't remember being that interesting,
