Wikipedia entry on WrestleMania: The Arcade Game said:
It was eventually revealed by Sal DiVita during a review of WWE All Stars by Xbox Addict.com that Adam Bomb was indeed hidden deep within the game: "he even confirmed the existing rumor that Adam Bomb is hidden within the annals of the game, though he would not divulge how to obtain him, stating only that the character was incomplete and there was no sense in attempting to procure him"

Good to have that cleared up 16 years later. I remember reading on the net that they were going to release a new version removing Lex Luger and replacing him with Adam Bomb.

Never heard of this rumor, but it still would've been unusual having Bomb in the game since he also left the company in 1995. I have no idea why I even asked from WrestleMania: The Arcade Game for Christmas one year when I really wanted WWF Raw. It just sucked that the SNES version didn't have Bam Bam Bigelow and Yokozuna. The roster for that game sucked as well. The WWF was so heel heavy that to get a face in the game they had to choose Doink. Although, I was surprised they didn't go with the 1-2-3 Kid.

I think they went with Doink because they could play with the gimmick of character based attacks more.

Your probably right, but it was odd that the game had top level guys...and then Doink. Stuck out like a sore thumb on the roster.

Yeah, I never got why the SNES version didn't have Bam Bam and Yoko. I don't think it was hardware limitations or anything.

It was. At the very least, because the people developing the port got lazy figuring out how to include everything on a SNES cart at a consistent frame rate.

wiki said:
Ports were developed for Mega Drive/Sega Genesis, 32X, SNES, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and DOS. The SNES release omits Bam Bam Bigelow and Yokozuna. When the maximum of three characters are on screen simultaneously, the game slows down. It also lacks several voice and commentary samples and damage taken by in-game fighters from attacks was reduced.

The Genesis version retains most of the voice and commentary samples from the arcade and allows for four wrestlers on-screen, also with slow down. The Sega 32X release is similar to the Genesis version, but with improved graphics and audio. However, the frame rate was reduced to 30 FPS in the 32X port compared to 60 FPS in all other versions.

The CD-ROM (PlayStation, Saturn, DOS) releases are visually more similar to the Arcade, but the graphics are still not as sharp and sprites are slightly smaller. There is also no in-game music on the PlayStation and Saturn ports. The PlayStation and Saturn ports also freeze for a moment during gameplay to load the next character in a Battle Royal after a character has been eliminated.

The arcade version had the Undertaker's fatality with it. The DOS version life bar doesn't change colors in the second round. Also, the DOS version will only let you map out all six buttons on a specific gamepad.

LOD, Jericho + Lawler are up for download now. As is free (face version) R-Truth. Jericho is a beast. They even included his old triple powerbomb as one of his signatures.

There is also a 520mb patch to the game. Not sure what it does, but it sure a fuck didn't fix that stupid caching data BS that happens everytime you boot up the game after you've been playing something else.

I did a LOD vs. Mega Powers match but was destroyed quite thoroughly by the power of Hulkamania and Macho Madness.

Honestly, for as much replay value as people have gotten out of that game, why don't they just keep making new superstar creations and providing them for upload for the next 2-3 years? I figure they could make some decent money off of it if they released some new superstars and there's lots of people they have under a legends contract to keep doing it.

I agree. This isn't a series that needs to be remade every year (hell, their main series shouldn't either). I would love to just have DLCs and maybe even expansions like with the SSFIV Arcade Edition.

I really wish they'd patch the caching thing, though. It's like having to install the game every time you want to play it again (after you've played other games in between). Why not just have it install once and be done with it?

I don't know if you can DLC game modes (well, I know you can, but I don't know if it works for created from the ground up modes) so I'm sure they'll need All-Stars 2: Now with LADDERS! and such.

Yeah they'd just end up being a few gigs in size like the Arcade Edition add-on was for Super Street Fighter 4. It could be done.. I guess it just depends on how much money THQ thinks they can get out of an immediate sequel to the game.

Honestly? I really hope that sales for these types of games start going down. One year, Call of Duty and games like it need to do terrible numbers so that these publishers (since it's mostly them driving the annual sequels) finally realize that they need to switch to at least a bi-annual model and hopefully that would trigger a trend..

Maybe I shouldn't have used COD as an example there since it is technically two devs working on two franchises (Modern Warfare by Infinity Ward and World At War/Black Ops by Treyarch) under the COD banner. But it was the first thing that came to mind. =\

What are the "Hero" games?

I really think that the video games of the future (or at least sports titles) are going to release one version of their game and then you can pay each year for some new, upgraded features that can be added to the game and new rosters/players.

It looks like a fun version of Backstage Assault mixed with some awesome cartoony platform fighter.

Play as The Rock with pre-order of THQ's "WWE '12"

308rockbuckle.jpg

The Rock’s in-game character will resemble his current-day appearance, including a shaved head and new tattoos.

lol

I'd guess much like last year, they will do the pass thing where you get all DLC. The only one that wasn't available with that was Best Buy's Bret Hart, so I just got my copy from Best Buy. Think even he finally was available to be purchased After some time anyway.
