That's apparently being patched (once the server starts working) so enjoy it now. I say "apparently" because I heard the "black ring" glitch is being patched, so I assumed the ladder glitches I'm hearing about and things like you just mentioned would be too.

That stinks. When I used a submission and had a robot voice say "Commentary placeholder" , I enjoyed it more than the Cole/Lawler bickering.

I didn't notice until I started seeing how some of the feuds played out in my WWE Universe...but the cruiserweight division in this game is fucking awesome. I may have to keep that title in play.

My last few shows have had some serious good combos, and actually good matches as a play them, with Daniel Bryan, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, Sin Cara, Chavo, Yoshi etc. It helps that they're all very well animated, and have pretty decent movesets by default. Just had a great sequence in a DB/Gabriel PPV match, where Yoshi interfered, Sin Cara came out to stop him, just as DB hit his comback, just as Gabriel cut him off mid comeback. Just a seriously awesome series of events.

Have a quick question for those that have the game. Is the "so and so bought a ticket" angle still included? I always got a laugh out of, say, Randy Orton vs Undertaker in the main event only for, what's this, JTG bought a ticket! Holy shit!

I actually haven't seen that one yet. I did have a match where Randy Orton came out and sat at ringside.

It seems like interference still happens in matches quite a bit, but usually the guy stays on the outside of the ring and only distracts the ref once, then leaves. Ted Dibiase kept doing this in my matches in WWE Universe, so I sent him to WCW (ie. purgatory).

How does unlocking wrestlers exactly work? I unlocked Brock Lesnar right away (he showed up after Triple H won a match and beat him up), but I had Ax and Smash show up as separate mystery wrestlers, though they still aren't available to me to select? Weird.

Already had the game freeze up on me once, which isn't cool.

Bit the bullet and ordered this. Is there a mode where you book everything on a weekly basis? Like in some of the older SVR 2009 games? I seem to recall modes where you go after certain belts as well. Is that still in the game?

Got it in the mail today and just tinkering around right now. Had Rock beat Brock for a title to try and get the feel of the controls - I like it, but it's going to take some getting used to.

First order of business in Universe was to swap the classic IC title in on SmackDown. I also assigned the Royal Rumble in Universe mode to use the old Rumble logo. That was worth it.

I found making a DVD cover with a "Fantasy Warfare: Animal vs. Heath Slater" graphic to be way more amusing than it should be.

Took me a bit, but I finally get the directional attack deal! A tip for anyone who might be confused like me because last year they had it where you just hold right or left, and your guy would suplex in that direction. I've been trying to do that and he would turn a complete opposite direction sometimes and now I get why. You have to hold the stick in whatever direction you want the guy to go, in relation to the ring. So if you have a table set up at the top of the ring, you just hold up on the stick, regardless of if that table is to your left or your right or whatever. Or down if its at the bottom of the ring. etc.

Shit had me confused. Was wondering why I kept missing the table for no apparent reason.

Was going through the achievement list on this and a lot of tedious stuff this year. Some you can stack like 37 wins with Edge in one sitting stacks with win 50 times on hard or higher in one sitting.

Wild and Young confirmed.

They have a theme called "WCW Nitro" which is nothing close to the Nitro theme so I don't know why they bothered.

SmackDown is not Green Day but some other song. An improvement which also makes me wonder if THQ got a tip the theme would be changing for real soon.

DrVenkman quickly reviews the new "Original Themes":
American Patriot: It's the national anthem, sounds good.
Biker: Ok.
Billionaire: Some hip hop beat where someone keeps asking if we have his money.
Bodybuilder: Sounds kind of like a rock remix of Marvellous Marc Mero's theme.
British Patriot: Cool, but too "stuffy" to work as a theme for a Bulldog CAW. I like it though.
Canadian Patriot: Ok, so "American Patriot" is the Star Spangled Banner, British Patriot is "Hail Britania", so logically Canadian Patriot is... a generic rock song.
Chinese Patriot: Not much to it.
Dark Super Hero: Catchy.
Evil Diva: I guess it does sound a bit evil.
Extreme: Sounds like a song from Sonic Adventure.
Extreme 2: The above with a countdown before it starts.
Flamboyant: Could pass a techno Mega Man song.
French Patriot: The perfect theme for your created Dino Bravo character! It's a rock guitar version.
Gold Medalist: I don't understand the name because at one point it becomes a lyricless cover of Bring Me to Life.
Gothic: NOT Gangrel's theme :(
Hell's Demon: Kind of cool.
Hip-Hop Gangsta: It's hip hop gangsta.
Irish Patriot: Irish dancin' music.
Islander: Rockin' island beat, kind of like the music the Usos use when they dance.
Italian Patriot: Awesome because it sounds like Curb Your Enthusiasm music. Perfect for CAW Larry David.
Japanese Patriot: Tastefully Japanese.
Ladies Man: It's good and hard to describe. Briefly sounds like a cover of Head like a Hole.
Mexican Patriot: Bull fighter-like music. But not as good as El Matador. Sounds kind of like WCW music actually.
Military Soldier: About what I expected from that name. It's good.
MMA Fighter: Some hard rock.
Movie Star: Nothing much to this one, don't really like it.
Movie Star 2: Same as above with a (overly long) count down.
Perfectionist: Epic music. Not bad.
Psycho: This sounds like unspecified TNA music.
Royalty: Lots of horns.
Sexy Diva: Something or other.
Super Hero: I actually really like this one. Epic build.
Undead: Druid chants.
US President: It's Hail to the Chief. Good inclusion.

WWE Universe mode is for you. The CPU dynamically sets feuds and cards, but you can tinker with all that.

Because the in-game tutorial screen doesn't mention these things, I'll ask here:

1. How can you do that thing the computer always seems to do where they basically do their finisher while you're on the ground, setting up an animation where you walk right into it (come to think of it, the CPU always did this to me in All-Stars too but I never really did it to them)?

2. How do you kick out? I seriously don't know. One time I mashed a bunch of buttons, one time I just used "Resiliency", and any other time I've been pinned I lose. I see there is a meter and allegedly I can just hold A, but even when I get the meter to the kick-out spot and let go, it sinks back to nothing.

1. I'm not sure if I'm answering this one right but are you talking about the wake up taunt? They have the new feature where when yoy have the flames around your finisher symbol, you do the taunt up and it has your opponent stumble up to get hit with you finisher.

2. The kickout does stink. It is getting it in that little bar, which is ok early in the match when there's plenty of space. If they pin you once you've gotten beat up pretty bad, not much hope.

I'm pretty sure the "wake up" taunt finisher is executed by pressing up on the directional pad.

So I got the game in the mail last night, popped it in today, & started a 40-Man Royal Rumble . . . Ax & Smash got #1 & #2 . . . of course they did.

I had no idea what the flaming finisher meant, other than something about "Super Finishers do more damage". This makes sense now, thanks.

The last match I lost (Daniel Bryan challenging Nash for the US title at the Clash of Champions) I swear I did get into the little box, so I let go and the meter sank back to nothing. On a better note, Bryan is fun to play as.

I also didn't realize until playing this game that I'm actually pretty fond of the David and Michael theme.

Is that the rap song that goes "It's all about me! It's all about me!"?

Gameplay quite realistic. I was going for the achievement of win a one versus three free brawl and no matter what I did, I couldn't win until I used Cena.

Of course. Husky Harris and Otunga are two of the lowest rated guys in the game. I think both of them are actually rated lower than Michael Cole.

It has tribal chanting, then talks about being all about power.

Similar Demolition coincidence - the Draft Raw randomizer matched up Animal (WCW) vs. Smash (Raw). I won as Animal, so WCW got - you guessed it - Ax in the Draft.

The last WWE game I've owned is Here Comes the Pain. How easy is it to win matches in these games? Do you remain undefeated throughout, or are matches actually tough and you can lose at any time? That's really what I dislike about all sports games really, is that once you know how to play you can't really lose. Or, that's how it was in the early decade, are games still like that now?

Yeah, I pretty much stopped gaming after the N64. I did own a PS2 at one point but didn't purchase very many games for it.
