Dibiase really peaked early. Losing at Wrestlemania 4 killed him hard and he never got back.

Then we'd just get Chris Adams as Repo Man.
He and Anvil could trade notes on assaulting airline employees.

Adams getting the Al Perez JTTS role wouldn't have been the worst thing. Gives Kerry a familiar foe to work 3rd match on the cards against while in a drugged haze.

Lord Al and Adams in bad British skits.

Probably some real bangers with Bret post WM 7 as Hart gets Ws leading up to Hennig.

WWF @ East Rutherford, NJ – Meadowlands – July 9, 1987 (5,469)
SD Jones defeated Steve Lombardi
Jerry Allen pinned Rick Rude with a sunset flip
Scott Casey defeated Iron Mike Sharpe
Killer Khan pinned Brady Boone (sub. for Sivi Afi)
Koko B. Ware pinned Nikolai Volkoff
Don Muraco fought Bob Orton Jr. to a draw
Jim Brunzell & the Junkyard Dog (sub. for B. Brian Blair) defeated Kamala & Sika
George Steele defeated Danny Davis in a steel cage match by escaping through the door

Running C shows at the Jaffa Mosque is one thing but....the Meadowlands??????

Apparently this made tape. Review says Steele and Davis went 8 mins with 7:30 of stalling.

Allegedly (rumor and innuendo, Bruce, erm, Brody), part of the reason it made tape was for the Jerry Allen-Rick Rude match. They wanted to have it to use to hurt him, in case Rude flaked out and ran back to Crockett or the territories.

I wonder how/why they chose Indy of all places to run Hogan/Andre 2?
You would think they'd perhaps try and run a massive arena, if not a stadium type of event. You can load on the solid dark matches to help fill in the seats.

Mean Gene seems to have all his pre-tapes for Rumble 88 calling it the "Rumble Royal"

Maybe I should have used that tidbit to start the annual Rumble Retrospective thread.

Edit: First post of 2024 and I mention Hogan. Gimmick checks out.

The missed bet is Hillbilly trying to help get make the Bushwhackers become American citizens.
There is basis for this in the 1987 promos where Outback Jack and Hillbilly set up their brief team as Jim explains "We are both hillbillies, just different kinds"

This return took a much unexpected turn when Studd quit/fired and suddenly Andre was KO'd by Jim on TV to set up HBJ working in the upper card.

I don't believe Mr Fuji in this promo I'm currently listening to where he claims to make Warlord run 25 miles a day.

Hillbilly Jim is another Hulkamania era guy who was sort of canonically written off TV. He cut a dumb promo comparing wrestling Earthquake to wrestling a pig then got squashed by him on a post WMVI SNME.

He did have one more appearance in the SD Jones “name guy inexplicably teaming with a jobber “ role against Rhythm & Blues

TIL (or FIL) that they taped the Brother Love Show where Earthquake stretchered Hulk Hogan in LaCrosse, WI. @BruiserBrody ’s undying loyalty to the Hulkster makes a bit more sense now.

Hillbilly Jim has got to be the only long time Hogan ally to never turn heel on him unless I am forgetting someone.

There’s Edge too but him and Hogan’s team was brief and Hogan took his ball and went home pretty quickly after they lost the titles. I bet Ruthless Aggression Edge could have gotten a damn decent match out of ‘00s Hogan but that is another thread.

It depends on which continutity you're going with. WWF timeline, Brutus never turned on him. Or Elizabeth, if she counts.

Alluded to is different, though. At least they directly tired Savage/Flair in 92 to their feud, although that was probably Flair going into business for himself.

Hogan disowned Liz when she had that 3 way with Dusty and Sapphire. One of those people.

-
I wonder if Jim getting squashed by Quake on SNME was a nod to the Hillbillies early 85 popularity and push on the show. SNME had its own mini canon unfolding at times.

Ron Garvin was written off into JTTSdom via Quake too.

-
Clearly Herc vs Quake at WM 6 was Hercules' last hurrah as the unofficial 3rd Mega Power. Quake had to murk him to send Hogan a warning.
