I loved the Ultimate Maniacs so much. My two favorites finally teaming after so much hatred, just to hurt Flair. It was great and those outfits rule.

Now why they got stuck with Ultimate Maniacs as a name when it's absolutely what I'm sure got pitched once as a Hogan-Warrior superteam, I don't know. But for years, before I saw it again, I remembered them as the Macho Warriors, so whatever.

Hogan and Beefcake got rebranded as the Mega Maniacs in '93 (at least, I'm 99.9% sure they weren't '89-'90 run) so Hulk may have been into the term "Maniacs".

Well yeah. Mega Maniacs, Monster Maniacs, every iteration of Hulkamaniacs. It's maybe the one word not "brother" synonymous with Hogan.

It's sweet that the only Maniac that mattered in wrestling was Hogan's rival.

I may be the only one but I think Warrior looked cooler in the singlet than the trunks. Not the flesh-colored singlet that made it appear he was nude, that was a little too far, but the others were cool, especially the Ultimate Maniacs one. I was disappointed that he went back to trunks for the 1996 return.

Warrior wore his singlet for his random ‘90s indie appearances too. I always assumed it was same deal as Savage where he was insecure about being shirtless off of roids.

Although wasn’t part of the reason he left in November ‘92 related to failing a drug test or getting busted for buying roids?

@BruiserBrody , didn’t 911 end up getting squashed by The Giant on a Nitro in Philadelphia?
Yes Sir. Can't recall if that was the Big Al or Tombstone portion of the gimmick.

Apparently Bruce Prichard said Austin first got on Vince's radar the night of "Beware of Dog" as the power was out so Vince was forced to just sit and watch the matches. McMahon really liked Savio vs Austin.
Shawn also requested to work with him early in Austin's run, so Vince knew if his boyfriend liked him, Vince should try.

Yeah, "Tell Me A Lie" really made me miss Shawn in 1995. They also hyped the hell out of his return at Royal Rumble '96 too.

"You Start A Fire" got my hyped, too.

It was fantastic booking, except when for how Shawn was neutered when he came back. "Tell Me A Lie" was bittersweet to me because of all the old footage and seeing guys who weren't around or matches that I missed out on. Like I didn't appreciate Shawn enough dammit.

I just remember when it happened being in shock and freaked out the rest of the night.

Was the "Syracuse Nightclub Brawl" the only time an outside shoot fight was mentioned on WWE TV? It seems weird they wouldn't kayfabe a hokey injury for Shawn instead of outright saying he got jumped by 37 thugs.

It was the night right after Survivor Series, though. I think he'd already been off TV a month before that, worked 20 minutes, and worked the next night. I have no idea if he was doing house shows, either. Besides once they had the Todd interview where he mentioned retirement and Shawn cut the interview short it was apparent. Eventually. Not to me at 10.
