I just don't think the islander shtick gets as over for him as the sumo one. Fuji also clicked well enough with him to make it work best.

Did it they address Fuji's just dropping all his previous clients to only have Yokozuna? Or was there a period where he managed a wacky stable of a sumo and a viking or something

The IWC was hyped for that Austin-Perfect match when it was announced. Sad neither guy was into it at the time.
It happened on my 14th birthday and it felt like a true dream match. Along with Bret and Sting, Mr. Perfect was one of the first wrestlers I cheered. And then Austin was my favorite as I grew older.

Then the match was over after 5 minutes and both guys barely tried.

Fuji's last match with Nord aired 11/22/92 so TECHNICALLY he and Yoko were under the same umbrella for a week or 2.

Zerk and Yoko work back to back matches in Dec on TV and Fuji is only with Yoko.

That would've been a fun tag team for a few months if they wanted to wait on Yoko's big singles push a little longer.

His last match ever was with David Flair. It isn't more of a fall than that.

Had Hennig not been released after the Plane Ride from Hell, I imagine he would have eventually left anyway. Too many other serviceable talents floating around the lower card.

His only roles that are at all productive are non/semi wrestling ones or making him a trainer. The latter extends his life, I think, based solely on not being on the road. We could be marveling over lost Hennig/Shelton OVW matches instead of tragic Heat stuff.

Not long but there's time. Enough to have him taking Berserker out at the Rumble to put the final stamp on things.

Now I’m wondering how much legs a babyface zerker has. Maybe pair him with Kamala and join him in discovering civilization.

The bowling segments would've been much funnier.

We could have gotten a 93 version with yoko, Shrinkers, Tama, etc

The Samoan Gangsta party was not far behind

1993 is known for its nuance and not just more and more barefoot guys with unbreakable skulls. Afa shouting over four or five guys instead of two does nothing, as good as a lot of matches could be. As a kid I'd have tuned out.

Rikishi doing anything as a heel is death, too. Like I don't think there's ever been a case of them killing someone off like they did with that turn. Maybe Katie Vick.

So I've been watching a bunch of 92-95 stuff lately and have come to the conclusion that Made In The USA Lex Luger kinda sucks. Like in ring, when he's feeling it, he's great fun. But when he doesn't he's one of the worst top guys of the era. His promos are also just miserable and I didn't realize just how miscast he was. I'm a Luger guy but man. Something about those high rise 90s trunks just ruined the aura.

Still a bit shocking Luger could come in looking like he did and not get the Yoko push vs Bret. You have the steel forearm gimmick revealed quicker IRL and Luger is ordered to pad it. He pulls down the pad to KO Bret and "steals" the win. The Hogan post match run in goes the same. Instant challenge. A dazed Bret waves Hogan on. Luger tries to use the forearm, Hogan ducks and hits hits own AX BOMB-AH and drops the leg to stun Luger.

Get rid of that heel Lex music though. Nice song but not for a top guy.

Luger/Bret should've been happening through the summer, at least. Enough to be the KOTR finals, at any rate. Luger had more to offer as a heel the entire time and was completely miscast as the hero. Or at least a squeaky clean hero and not a smug piece of shit hero.

I’ve said it a million times, Kona Crush was the right guy for the all American Man gimmick and should been regular ass Total Package smug heel Luger.

Crush was fine and should have been the guy. He did the right kind of promos, had the right look, and was capable enough. Had a good match with Yokozuna, to boot. He didn't get bad until the heel turn, and even then I don't think he was as bad as people say. He's absolutely a better option for that position than Luger, regardless.

American Sid is the way, though. That is a success all around. Unless you can pry Scott Steiner out of being a tag guy or get Sting or Simmons to jump.

Was there an endgame for Tatanka's streak? And just for my own curiosity, who has more televised wins, him or Goldberg?

I counted 87 televised matches for Tatanka prior to the Borga loss, 2 of those were draws and 1 was a six-man tag where he was on the losing team.

84 for Goldberg prior to Starrcade with 3 no-contests.

BUT BUT BUT

WWF @ Denver, CO – Coliseum – July 25, 1992 (3,700)
Tito Santana pinned the Brooklyn Brawler
Crush defeated Skinner
Razor Ramon defeated Jim Powers
Shawn Michaels pinned Tatanka
The Undertaker defeated Kamala (sub. for the Berzerker) & Mr. Fuji in a handicap match at 2:52
Jim Duggan pinned the Mountie
WWF Tag Team Champions the Natural Disasters defeated Ted Dibiase & IRS via disqualification
WWF World Champion Randy Savage pinned Ric Flair at 20:21

THE WHOLE THING WAS A SHAM
