G1 Climax 23, Day 3: August 3, 2013
Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium – Aichi
Day 3 saw a couple of firsts for this year’s tournament. The first loss for “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson, at the hands of Kota Ibushi, in what was a really solid opening match! Lance Archer also suffered his first loss of the tournament in his match against IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchia Okada. This loss for Archer also just happened to be Okada’s first win the tournament. The card capped off with a very strong showing from Davey Boy Smith Jr against Hiroshi Tanahashi. Tanahashi came away with the win (also his first of the tourney) but I really think that Davey Boy opened a lot of eyes with his performance in this match!
