That'd be tough but not impossible. Let's assume that McConnell retains the biggest reach for a Dem upset because we cant have nice things. And the next biggest reaches, Kansas and Texas, don't get close enough. And because of football celebrity status, the GOP ratakes the Alabama seat. Finally, back to the can't have nice things part, that bitch Graham retains.

That leaves Iowa, NC, Colorado, Maine, Montana, Arizona, and the 2 Georgia seats. Following the worst case scenario above, the Dems would need to win at least 5 of these 8 races to get a (VP tie break) majority in the senate if Sanders joins the cabinet. And that would leave no margin for a Manchin or other defection on any votes.

It'd be great if they could get a little breathing room by winning more than 5 of those, or if a miracle happened in one of the first paragraph races, but that's a lot to hope for.

I think they will win 6 of those 8. I think they will lose the second Georgia seat after the usual runoff, but the Republican part of that election is getting very nasty and I can see some people not showing up to vote for the Republican who wins. Iowa is the other one I'm most unsure about. Bullock is a popular governor in Montana and that race is gonna be decided by a couple thousand votes, I think it will break for him. It's a butthole clencher though.

If Bernie wins the Labor Secretary gig, that would be huge. He would have as much if not more influence on labor policy as he would have as president (where he'd be spread thin, and wouldn't be able to focus on it).

Work in the United States would look radically different in four years.

I don't think Trump will sway a single voter he didn't already have by focusing solely on conspiracy theories and personal insults. Biden is handling it so well; no gaffes, no slip ups, answering all questions asked. I don't think the president has actually answered a single question yet and, if there are any undecided voters left, they have certainly noticed that.

Biden struggling a bit at the end but no gaffes, more just a looking forward to the classroom bell ringing kind of thing. If Trump hadn't been such a colossal idiot in the first debate and quit the second, maybe Biden would've had a major fuckup but we'll never know.

Will the media have the same things to say about Trump's facial expressions as they chose to espouse about Kamala Harris?

Biden owned him so badly for 80 minutes of that. It was actually incredible.

Biden clearly won this but there were less things here were trump looked like a monster or a bully i think. I don't see this having a huge effect on the election.

If this were a boxing match, consider it rounds 10 & 11. Biden won the first 9 rounds the previous several months. Tonight, instead of riding a bike like De La Hoya against Trinidad, he swung like he was the one that needed a knockout. Now there's just one round left, 11 days, Trump needs a knockout. Unfortunately for him, Biden might have Tex Cobb's chin.

He would be on the ballot by now anyway I'd think.
I live (and vote) in Georgia. He was on the ballot. But I admit to not being familiar with that process, so that doesn't answer my question, at all. Are you saying that his presence on the ballot means it's too late for him to drop out?

Yeah. He can say that he drops out but ultimately he’s still there and people can vote for him because he’s a piece of trash who didn’t drop out when he should have.

Very fine people.

I feel like a very high percentage of failed assasins have that haircut. Same haircut my elementary school bully's dad. I think it's only possible to have it if you're a sociopath.

Ballot dates are subject to printing schedules, as well. They aren't printed on generic copy paper but rather a thicker card, one designed to be scanned accurately. After a certain date, changing the physical ballots is practically impossible.

Re: "libertarians for Bernie?!"
There's a difference between libertarian ideas (lower-case "L") and Libertarians (capital "L"), and LibSocs are a growing portion of the Left who want an American slant on the proven Nordic model. They tend to be found in predominantly liberal regions with greater rural populations (Vermont, Washington state, western Mass, upstate NY, etc.).

Fear is setting in cause they know how boring a Biden presidency plus Democratic majority will be and cable news will lose in the ratings to MJF, Jericho, and Jake The Snake singing "Swingin' on a Star" on AEW Dynamite.

Were the cable news ratings really that big during Trump's presidency? I never checked. I know they go up during elections and major events, but I don't know if the reality tv presidency actually lifted all cable news boats. If anything, I thought there's been more cord cutting and switching to any number of the other entertainment options. I assume ratings were way up this year due to election + pandemic. And I suppose the people who are politics junkies might be the last to cut that cord.

I guess I assumed the media helps Trump so much because he's one of them, not necessarily because it's helped their own sales and ratings so much.

The moderator is getting pedestal'd too. She allowed Trump to interrupt repeatedly, granting him "10 seconds" which turned into 45 seconds of more lying and personal attacks. She asked Biden about the horrible conspiracy theories about his son after Trump told her to. Somehow this is being portrayed as her doing an "excellent job."

Ballots are printed months in advance. My Democratic primary ballot in March had candidates who dropped out months and ago like Julian Castro and John Delaney.
While true, it's done this way because of how long a major scale printing job actually takes. Doing some flyers for your buddy's gig at a club is an entirely different operation than anything pertaining to government. This is why cut off dates aren't flexible when it comes to a candidacy.

I don't think he dropped out anyway. He's a Lieberman, his whole deal is meant to cause problems and make things worse.
