I definitely believe Harris is polling ahead but only slightly. She'll likely gain even more momentum after the late Oct. debate/town hall.

Why do you think that poll is correct but the many, many polls showing Harris with a 2-6 point lead are not?

Because I sat on my couch on Sunday morning in November of 2016 and watched as all the panelist on ABC's This Week laughed at the outlier that was the LA Times poll suggesting Orange Man beats Old Cunt instead of a blue blowout.

I live in Wisconsin. Based on who I talk to and what I see, it should be Trump up a million in Wisco. But Madison, La Crosse and Milwaukee keep us honest.

I miss Crazy Boss Lady everyday.

La Crosse is represented by Congress by a Jan 6 Republican. And that district's rural counties, supposedly a bastion of progressives and hippies, has been given its state legislature seat to a Republican since the 1940s. Anyway,

1) Our friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors are never really any kind of microcosm of a state or nation. They'2re just the people we happen to know.

2) Wisconsinites, and Americans in general, have voted stupidly many times. If we don't want it to happen again, the best we can do is work towards a better outcome.

Vote. Talk to people. Put up a sign. Canvass, donate, go to a rally, write letters. Talk to more people. There are lots of things people can do, especially if you think it will be close and are frightened/sickened by that prospect.

I haven't even voted myself since 2000, so I'm certainly not going to be banging on doors.

Fox News poll also has Harris up several points in GA.

I would also say the thing that makes me not nervous about this election is that Republicans continue to alienate city dwellers by calling the places we live shitholes. And they won't stop doing it. Land doesn't vote, people do.

After all those hurt feelings over not getting the desired reaction about shit polls, dude says he hasn't even voted in 24 years. Feel free to keep complaining and whatever, but if you don't have the energy to do something as simple as voting, there's just nothing there.

There's a lot of big talking "edge" people like that. I saw plenty of them in Wisconsin bars. But most of them were the same, they didn't have the energy to vote.

And, yes, that's a good point 909. Alienating big city voters could be one of the big factors in a Harris win (and maybe, hopefully, retaining the Senate). Philly, Milwaukee, Charlotte, Phoenix, Atlanta, Detroit, etc...Trump can't win if he alienates those states' electoral votes. And if it can draw enough in Houston, etc, maybe Cruz loses. If that happens, and Harris wins, Tim Walz will be the tie breaker even if Tester ends up losing in Montana.

To prove I don't just say things in chat, I called you a fucking tard when I saw this. But I just paid almost 100 dollars for the worst steak I've ever eaten, so which of us is the real idiot?

Having eaten the steak, you are entitled to complain about it. So, of the two, you're not the idiot.

To defend Brody (what is it with me defending pariahs of the week?), people who don't vote usually don't see any benefit to them or theirs by doing so. Their communities are still fucked regardless of who's in office, their lives are still shit no matter if it's an R or a D next to the candidate, and their meager existence is barely touched by what proposed legislation comes to a standstill on the Congress floor.

...but seriously, man, at least do a write-in for someone.

It doesn't make sense to be so invested in the race, live in one of the like 6 states where your vote counts, and not vote.

If you were truly a nihilist, you wouldn't be reading and posting these articles or following the polls.

I can only guess that you're just really lazy or get some sort of enjoyment from feeling like you're above it all by not voting.

Now is the time to close those 56 political/conspiracy website tabs, get off that couch, and vote for a real serious candidate: Jill Stein.

That would work better if he wasn't so active in the folder and was just a month or two ago defending Biden. He lives in one of the only states that actually has a real impact too. 2020 was decided by maybe 100,000 votes in the swing states?

Yeah, both 2016 and 2020 saw Wisconsin's electoral votes decided by around 20k each time, less than 1% in both cases. There's also a US senate seat on the line. And, after finally getting the GOP gerrymandered districts corrected (by people who do more than, you know, spend a lot of time bitching on the internet), this is the election where the state legislature can start being shifted to reflect the actual state.

It's important for anyone anywhere who gives a shit to vote. But Wisconsin is one of the states where it's extra important.

If someone is completely tuned out, apolitical, etc, I get it. If you don't care, you don't talk about it, don't whine, it makes sense to not vote. But if you're going to be extremely online and talk A LOT about politics, state and national, you should get up and do something.

And there really isn't an excuse to not vote if you're going to talk a lot. I'm on campus 12+ hours on Tuesdays. So I voted early and the entire process took less than 5 minutes.

I've voted in every election I can because it's a right given to me and I always feel like my vote counts. That final tally in MA for Kerry, Obama, Clinton, Biden, and now Harris has my vote in that tally even if it doesn't change the Electoral number. Votes matter. If you don't want to vote, that's your prerogative but don't hide behind the "my vote doesn't count"/"nihilism" bullshit. Just say you're too lazy to vote or don't want to put in the effort to vote.

For Massachusetts, which we all know rolls Democrat.
2004: Kerry won 62-37
2008: Obama won 62-38
2012: Obama won 61-38
2016: Clinton won 60-33
2020: Biden won 66-32

If you really wanted to make an argument about votes (not) mattering just from 2020...

Alaska: Trump by 36,173
Arizona: Biden by 10,457
Georgia: Biden by 11,779
Iowa: Trump by 138,611
Michigan: Biden by 154,188
Minnesota: Biden by 233,012
Nevada: Biden by 33,596
New Hampshire: Biden by 59,277
New Mexico: Biden by 99,720
North Carolina: Trump by 74,483
Pennsylvania: Biden by 80,555
Texas: Trump by 631,221
Wisconsin: Biden by 20,682 (Polls right at the end of October had Biden up 53-54% btw). Biden took Ashland by 960 votes, Door by 292, Green by 682, Sauk by 615; Trump took Brown by 10,360, Columbia by 517, Crawford by 667, Iron by 905, Kenosha by 2,779, Outagamie by 10,718, Racine by 4,320, Richland by 876, Vernon by 761, and Winnebago by 3,736.

All of those Wisconsin counties were under a 10% difference. There were 15 counties with a 30%+ margin but 9 COUNTIES IN WISCONSIN that were separated by 5% on either winning party's side. A better campaign by Trump and maybe he takes Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Wisconsin entirely.

Some of our friends in the press are still mad they didn't get a contested convention like the 1870s after Biden dropped out. Not only is it weird how these guys (it's almost always the guys) are full of feelings when it's a Dem but on those eggshells for maga losers, it's also (again, as almost always) not accurate. Walz has been doing lots of rallies, appearances, and interviews. If he's been off the trail the past few days that's probably because he's preparing for the debate on Tuesday.

Trump shifted from topic to topic so quickly that it was hard to keep track of what he meant at times. He talked about the two assassination attempts against him and blamed the U.S. Secret Service for not being able to hold a large outdoor rally instead of an event in a smaller indoor space. But he also offered asides about climate change, Harris’ father, how his beach body was better than President Joe Biden’s, and a fly that was buzzing near him.

“I wonder where the fly came from,” he said. “Two years ago, I wouldn’t have had a fly up here. You’re changing rapidly. But we can’t take it any longer. We can’t take it any longer.”
Stable Genius.

After hearing Trump's demented speech today, Jack Tapper probably wondered if it was time for Biden to step down again.
