Concerts coming to your area: Good and Bad

Yeah, I saw that Alice was playing with Halestorm. He's one of the only favorites of mine that I've yet to see live. I should have seen him when he toured with Deep Purple!

Guess Korn is touring with Alice In Chains too but I’m more inclined for that Limp Bizkit with POD and Killswitch Engage.

I also found out I just missed future WWE Hall of Famer Flo Rida performing at the local Ostrich Festival. Sounds like I truly missed out.

I saw him perform at a Pistons halftime show. I’m set for life in that department.

I took the long and boring drive to Holmdel last night to see Ozzy for the probable final time. I’ve only seen him solo once before in 2010, but Zakk Wylde wasn’t in the band at the time so I didn’t really get the full Ozzy experience. Anyway Ozzy was...not very good but I didn’t really expect him to be. His voice has not been great any of the times I’ve seen him and now he’s had to tune down yet another half-step in order to sing the songs, and he was still off-key for a lot of them. Also he wears a tight shirt which accentuates his gut and moobs, which is unnecessary since he doesn’t look fat in most pictures. He can hide it if he tries, that’s all I’m saying. The whole set list consisted of songs he played the last time I saw him - Bark at the Moon, Mr. Crowley, I Don’t Know, Faeries Wear Boots, Suicide Solution, No More Tears, Road to Nowhere, War Pigs, then a long instrumental jam where they played excerpts from songs that I would have liked to hear in full like Miracle Man and Perry Mason, then Ozzy came back and they did I Don’t Want To Change the World, Shot in the Dark and closed the main set with Crazy Train. He came back with an encore of Mama, I’m Coming Home but he kinda spaced out on the “you made me cry, you told me lies” lyrics and then Zakk whispered something in his ear and he resumed singing but did so unconvincingly, like he was reading the lyrics off the TelePrompTer and wasn’t sure of the vocal melody. But he picked it up again and finished the song without issue. However, Ozzy must have been unsatisfied with his performance because he then played the whole song again, not missing any lines this time. I think he may have dementia. He closed with Paranoid and the evening was mercifully over. I was pretty close to the stage, about 22nd row or so, and I paid $45. Others in the section paid a lot more and wow did they get screwed, but the show met my expectations. I enjoyed watching Zakk shred all night. The singing wasn’t great but I had fun.

Ozzy just added another leg to this tour and he's coming to the Garden next year with Megadeth opening. I've already seen Black Sabbath so I think that's enough OzMan for a lifetime though I'm mildly interested in checking out Zakk Wylde.

Ozzy has postponed all dates on this tour until 2020 citing health reasons. Zakk Wylde even expressed disappointment probably because he's missing a big payday.

I've said it before, but Zakk Wylde is a goddamn PRO when he's live. Seen him with Ozzy and BLS and he doesn't disappoint. It's insane how much better BLS material sounds live compared to on record, and seeing Zakk get hit in the face with a beer bottle mid-shred and not even miss a note is a sight I'll take to my grave.

Going see Weird Al in June for the very first time. It's a birthday present (May) that I had to be notified of early to ensure I squared away time off from work.

A friend in Ohio just got passed this at a gas station:

Looks like Zakk found the perfect remedy - Zakk Sabbath.

Zakk and his touring band are going to tour covering all Black Sabbath tunes.

Hard pass for me.

Just scored tickets to back to back Against Me! shows in October. Saw LJG play recently and she did a few AM "covers" so I'm super hyped for these shows (each night is two full albums).

Nice, also got tickets to see them here in Nov!

A town about 15 minutes up the road usually gets some decent enough talent for their Fall festival each year, and admission is always free. They're having Smash Mouth and The Spin Doctors this year.

Slayer just announced their final (FINAL!) NY date at MSG on November 9th with Primus, Ministry, and Phil Anselmo (doing a full Pantera set) opening.

No way in hell I'm missing this.

Never was a big Weird Al guy but I just saw his concert is coming to town and his current tour includes him performing with a live orchestra, which seems interesting.

Saw it in New Orleans. It's a great show, subdued, and shorter than I expected, but it was great to finally check the Weird one off my bucket list.

I low key think he MAY have been lip syncing some parts, but he's knocking on 60 and I'm not a professional singer, so I'm not a credible witness on this.

I just got back from seeing Iron Maiden. This was my third time and my first in 11 years. These guys never miss a step and they had an elaborate stage show. It was a great fucking time.

Highlight was definitely "Flight of Icarus".

Apparently Andy Dick is a touring act because a host venue contacted one of my musician friends about doing opening act work for the schtick. Apparently they booked like 6 bands and then Andy comes out and does comedy/music/whatever.

Like I get you want exposure, but opening for Andy Dick and "exposure" has all sorts of puns involved. I'm working and not even trying to swap around to make the event. I made my concerns known and wished him the best of luck.

Alice Cooper is playing in Bethel which is the nearest venue to me but it's with fucking Halestorm. Are they even big enough to be a co-headliner? It's gonna be a weak summer for concerts.

This is tomorrow and I'm going to it. $15.50. I looked it up and Alice does a full set and crap-ass Halestorm only does ten songs. Might not get there til 9.

Billy Idol and Bryan Adams are playing in Holmdel on Saturday but that's too far away. I work for the post office and I have to be up early on both Saturday and Sunday. If I die because fell asleep at the wheel coming back from seeing two washed up 80s rockers I'm gonna feel like a real dickhead.

Holy shit, I just read that Mr. Bungle is reuniting and touring for the first time in 20 years. They (tentatively) have a show lined up for NY in February. Oh happy day!

Andy Dick did not show up. While leaving an earlier in the day engagement he was punched and hospitalized.

No word on if the supporting acts still got paid for their schticks or if anyone was actually disappointed.

Sebastian Bach is currently touring playing the entire first Skid Row record in its entirety to commemorate its 30th Anniversary. He's coming to NY on 9/25!

Kreese, where you at?

I saw him open for GnR in 2011 and he did most of the major songs from the debut. If he does a Slave to the Grind tour in two years I'll go.

EDIT: I looked it up and I see he's also performing this ham jam that was recorded for but left off the debut. I think this is the first time he's ever sang this live.

Got an offer to go see Great White and Slaughter for free at a local casino tonight. The one buddy that would probably go with me is unavailable or I may have redeemed.

Are you sure it was the band Slaughter or were they warning of another potential pyro accident?

Totally spaced on that but now that you reminded me, probably the latter.
