Local police said they're not going to arrest anyone cause who do you think rural Maine cops agree with in this standoff? State Police might show up and the Governor might revoke their liquor license though!

Amusingly enough, the Governor was this dumb MAGA Chud brewery owner's lawyer when he was arrested for disorderly conduct 7 or 8 years ago. That's how he has her number. Maine is a small state lol.

State Police did shut restaurant down and board of health revoked their food and liquor licenses. Dumb thing is this restaurant has been closed since mid-March. Breweries have the option to serve takeout and even to go alcohol during pandemic but he just chose to shut down.

Two more restaurants in Western Maine announced they were going to open today in solidarity with this dingus and board of health announced they'd remove their liquor license.

Getting your liquor licenses revoked to own the libz!

This may seem somewhat morbid, but at some point it will need to be enacted. At what point do we just accept this virus is going to be apart of the world moving forward and accept that people will die from it? Let's say in July despite social distancing and other measures people are still getting new cases, do we go back to allowing gatherings knowing it will cause outbreaks?
We didn't even make it to May before people got stir crazy and even the Democratic states that are getting clobbered are starting to ease some restrictions.

Everyone ragged on him at the time but this may have been a true genius moment!

I don't think his thinking was revolutionary as it really wasn't possible for us to keep everything closed indefinitely and I'm sure most people would agree with him there. I think we are still a ways off from gatherings being "officially" approved; I'm talking concerts, crowds at sporting events, festivals, etc.

Oh sure. Maybe that was the sticking point. I don't think we'll have attended sports, major concerts until Fall 2021, at the earliest. I guess point that I was trying to make is we're easing social restrictions really for no other reason than people are going stir crazy. It's a really damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. A lot of Americans are too stubborn to follow restrictions in the first place so I guess at some point, you got to just let whatever happens happen and hope there's enough smart people to clean up the mess.

Can you imagine the reaction from the alt-right if Jewish people come up with the solution:

The whole original point of this was "flatten the curve" right? Spread infections out to prevent a run on hospitals? That seems to have happened in most states, almost too well because now hospitals are furloughing staff because nobody is coming in for anything BUT COVID and officials have to come out and basically tell people "yes, if you are having a heart attack, come to the fucking hospital". I think most people are still on board with social distancing and some restrictions (especially when it comes to the elderly, who are getting slammed by this), but things were bound to reach this point eventually, especially when we see other countries start to open up. We weren't going to be doing this for 12-18 months. Hell, anyone thinking it would last 6 months would be kidding themselves, especially with the economic damage that has already occurred (which can't just be glossed over).

Yeah, you don't go back to normal at the top of the curve. We're passing death records regularly still.

We're just going to have wave after wave. You either need a vaccine or an effective treatment. I still see people not wearing face masks or wearing them completely wrong.

There's no money in a cure....

Other than the trillions upon trillions upon trillions of dollars that the cure would bring about from the economy opening. Other than that, you're right, no money at all.
