Random thoughts:

Assassin's Creed 3 is going to be titties.

I'm watching the Watch Dogs demo now and this game looks really interesting.

I'm pretty depressed that Michael Ironside won't be voicing Sam Fisher anymore.

I'm glad EA got the UFC license. THQ just never delivered on the promise of the first game IMO.

I find SmartGlass funny because you know how it was developed. "What do you guys think about the way the Wii U uses that awesome controller?" "Couldn't that just be done with smart phones and tablets people already own?" "...yes it could".

I saw the Watch Dogs demo on G4 in SD, and it looked good there... but holy shit, it really shines in 720p.

Watch Dogs - Game Demo Video [UK]

I hope they figure out the title is actually written, before it drives me nuts. On the official site alone, it's written as "WatchDogs" in the page title, "Watch Dogs" in the YouTube video title, "Watchdogs" in the page description, and stylized as "WATCH_DOGS" or "Watch_Dogs" in the logo.

Yeah I watched it in sd on G4 too and thought it looked great. It didnt occur to me to go watch in hd...probably because I'm exhausted. But I still have 4 and a half hours of e3 to watch

I get the sense they're going after more of the iPhone/iPad/iMac/Apple TV integration with all of that. Though if developers actually use it (I doubt it), I suppose there could be some WiiU in there as well.

Yeah I know. But I figure the only reason they even did that was because of a conversation. As someone who actually does use his 360 for sports, Netflix, movies and all the other non gaming related activities I'm one of the few that doesn't roll my eyes when they push that stuff.

Of course I like great games...but I also enjoy living in what I thought the future would be when I was a kid and telling my tv what to show me and then watching it happen. Next gen the kinect can just be a mic that listens to me yell at it. It's pretty much all I use it for.

Around E3 time, I usually pack the DVR full of G4 (and some GT TV), but right now, I don't think I can stand the annual wank fest where EVERYTHING is "awesome", and EVERY FUCKING GAME is an "epic adventure".

I can't get too excited about most of the media stuff for various reasons:

  • Canadian (granted, this has improved some in recent years)
  • XBL Free/Silver member
  • Media prices through XBL are—generally speaking—far too high, IMO
  • Many of the media partners require a separate subscription—if it's even available to you, due to conflicts with regional content rights—and/or requiring a fairly redundant cable/satellite package (I have Rogers On Demand, ESPN3 and HBO Go in mind here)

It sounded like the ESPN partnership got a pretty tepid response, and I have a feeling it's because most people feel like it'll be like ESPN3—where your ISP/TV provider have to implicitly support the feature—in which case... What's the fucking point?

That's a nice list, thinking about signing up for PS+ now cause of that. Infamous 2, Spacemarine, Sideway and VF5 would be good to have

This.

I have an Xbox, an XBL gold membership and Time Warner Cable. Right now, I can watch live games on ESPN through my computer, my phone and my tablet. But on Xbox? Nope. Just highlights. How does that make any sense?

(And before you ask "Why would you want to watch a game on Xbox if you already have a cable subscription?", in this particular case, there was a game available on ESPN3/WatchESPN that wasn't available on TV here.)

Not excited for the EA Sports UFC game. I thought EA Sports MMA was pretty mediocre, with the only gameplay advantage over Undisputed being a submission system superior to "The Shine," mostly by virtue of the latter being terrible.

BAH! EA love to use the analogue sticks for fighting games and i hate that. Im shocked Dana did business with them considering "MMA isnt worth a game" EA took back when THQ took the license.

Reggie's "we don't have time to explain what Wii U really does" spiel reminds me of John Kerry's "I have a plan but I can't tell you what it is, check my website" bit.

The applause for the announcement that Wii U supports two gamepads made me laugh. I get what it means, but stripped of the context of what the Wii U gamepad is, it's funny. The TurboGrafx-16 can't compete with this!

Nintendo's first big 3rd party game...is a game that will be over a year old by the time the Wii U launches?

I like EA MMA better than Undisputed. Undisputed gets boring after awhile and its nice not getting a flash KO 30 seconds into every fight.

Ugh, I can't even watch a video game press conference without hearing "Call Me Maybe."

New Super Mario Bros 2 3DS looks cool, but the guy announcing it is awful.

August 19th release date, score.
