Starting off in a Sentinel paradigm (like Delta Attack or Solidarity) and switching to something like Relentless Assault then back is the only way to get through some fights in less than like 20 minutes.

Or do you mean being able to create new paradigms on the fly during a battle?

On the fly.

OK. Yeah I keep forgetting to create a paradigm with Fang and Lightning as Commandos so that when someone's staggered I can Launch the shit out of them. I'd like to create them on the fly too, but that might cause too much micromanaging during an often frantic fight.

I have tendency of selecting the wrong paradigm during fights because I'll hurry. I meant to heal instead of sabotage.
I like the fact in this game that you can skip cut scenes. I wish FFX had this because I think Yunalesca killed my party at least 50 times and she had a long cut scene.

I originally thought this might be the first game I attempted to get every achievement for but I've already changed my mind. Three of them, IMO, are absolutely insane.

Treasure Hunter: Have every weapon/accessory... considering how many upgrades are available this would take forever.
5 stars on every C'ieth Stone: Some of these missions aren't recommended to be undertaken until beating the game, as they are much more difficult than the final boss... so 5 stars on all of them?
5 stars on final boss battle: also could be tough.

Not looking good for that goal.

Oh Christ that fucking cut scene. The fight itself took me forever each time, and I always died on her last form...I have no idea just how much time it took me to beat her the first time but it felt like forever. Fuck a bunch of that cut scene.

RPGs in general are pretty awful for achievements, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Unless you buy a guide, wait for a good online guide, and start a new game. :p

I don't know if it's worth the full price. The PS3 version supposedly has better sound and graphics because they didn't have to compress anything. The Xbox version has three discs, which reminds me of days when I used play the PS Final Fantasies.

I just beat Final Fatasy: The Spirits Within. It was the best interactive movie I've ever played.

I wish there was post-game game or something. I don't like that it restarts you outside the boss' room after the ending. Also, the Pope version 1 was hardest boss to beat for me and Vanielle's summon was the hardest to beat.

What's the final boss' wish to off himself and then put up a fight? Same thing happened in FFX. Actually I might have played FFX and just missed the blitzball portion.

Back on Pulse after the warp at the beginning of the last chapter... have all my weapons maxed out but still have yet to get my hands on any precious Trapehedrezon (sp?) to get to ultimate weapons... can't see myself taking an Adamantoise down without leveling up a bit. Everything else I can take down.

I think I'll save the "Titan" missions until after I beat the game.

Snow has really grown on me... everything that used to be annoying just isn't anymore. His behind the back fist raise to NORA in Chapter 12 had me laughing for like 2 minutes straight.

Planning on beating the game when I get home from work tonight... on my way to take down orphan. 52 hours in... have no ultimate weapons but have over 1M in gil and just waiting til after the game. I have maxed out stage 9 crystarium and a ton of points saved to add a bunch of level 10 after I beat the game.

Too many of the B and A level missions on pulse were just slaughtering me so I figured fuck it... I'm coming back to this later.

How'd you go about getting that much gil? I'm at the same point you are and I have about 300,000. Though I have spent quite a bit on components for upgrading

Did you get all the plantinum ingots from Bhatiki? The haul I got from him was around 500k. I used most of it on upgrading. I think I got the rest stocking up on perfume/scarletite harvested from sacrifices and also from a few gold nuggets I got around Pulse. Hoping I can take down the 'Toises now as their common drop is an ingot and their rare drop is the Trapahedron to upgrade to ultimates. I still have about 30 stone quests to finish.

Finished the main game tonight. The only thing I can say about the ending is that I was completely confused as to what was happening as it was happening and it wasn't until after it was over that I was like ohhhhhh.

Well, I think it's the best FF game I've played since the days of SNES. I really, really loved it. I don't know, maybe that's just me.

I loved Fallout but the 70+ hours it took to play that really FELT like 70+ by the end. I can barely believe I'm at 55 hours here... feels like much less than that. That's a good compliment for a game, I think.

I'm only 5 hours in, but have mixed feelings.

It's kinda hard to gauge how strong your fighters are with so much going on the screen at once in battle.

The visuals are unlike anything I've ever see.

Don't think I'm a fan of the auto attack. It takes so much of the strategy out of regular RPGing...but to take your time and pick every attack would take too long and get your ass kicked.

I like the story unwrapping as you go on instead of getting none or all of the story to start out with.

I dunno, more later I suppose

I liked FF7 but I'm really nostalgic. I hated 8. Liked 9 a lot. Liked 10. I wish this game was less linear.

It gets less linear. Honestly, once you get to the Archylte Steppe, it's quite a shock compared to what you have been doing the rest of the game.

I like the game but don't love it. Just too many little issues (game over when party leader dies, unable to control other party members in battle, etc.) for me to ignore. I do like that it's more difficult than previous games, even if the difficulty is only in combat and only because you have to find the right way to win a lot of the battles. I died more times in non-boss battles my first day playing it than I did in IX, X, and XII combined, I think.

I think it's pretty firmly in the middle of FF games for me, alongside the criminally overrated VI and VII.

I'm always shocked to see someone write something like that about FFVI. Then I see it's almost always Cerebus :'(

I'm on chapter 7 and just can't get into the story of this game. I like the graphics and gameplay but it's boring and getting redundant (fight, cut scene, fight, cut scene). Ugh trying to fight it out until I get to the less linear section.

Grinding Adamantoises and Adamantortoises sucks BALLS. I've killed 8 so far and have zero platinum ingots nor traps to show for it. 1.3M gil is very, very far from 2M when you're not picking up ingots.

How much HP do you need to kill the really large tortoises? I can kill the smaller ones within 2 minutes.

I marked out twice in the game... once for something really corny Snow did and the second time was the return of the Tonberry. His entrance was AWESOME.

As for the bigger 'toises... I have about 15000 HP for Fang and around 12000 for Light and Vanille and I can beat the AdamanTORToise just by using Fortisol/Aegisol before and wailing away after the Eidolon knocks him down. Those guys have just under 3M HP. The Adamantoise has about 6M HP and I still need to cheat to win... knock down with Eidolon and just keep spamming death with Vanille. It usually takes two battles to kill it this way; sometimes I die twice.

And if you weren't aware... until you are REALLY strong, you need an Eidolon right at the beginning to bring it down and then wail once it's defenseless. Makes grinding even harder because need to replenish TP between the big fights.

Bit the bullet and got a used copy on ebay with the official strategy guide for £35. Considering the local game retailer has the game at £39.99 + 12.99 for the guide, i think i did well.

I shall be PS3ing this badboy.
