The judge at Kyle Rittenhouse’s murder trial has dismissed a count of possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.

The charge is only a misdemeanor, but it had appeared to be among the likeliest to net a conviction for prosecutors.
The defense argued that Wisconsin’s statute had an exception that could be read to clear Rittenhouse. That exception involves whether or not a rifle or shotgun is short-barreled.

After prosecutors conceded in court Monday that Rittenhouse’s rifle was not short-barreled, Judge Bruce Schroeder dismissed the charge.

It's pretty cool how the judge is blatantly in the tank because he knows he can't lose his job. And this is the shit he pulls when everyone is paying attention. It's also cool prosecutors mishandle evidence even though they know everyone is watching. I don't know the merits of said drone video evidence, but still. It's like they pull bullshit all the time to get people thrown in prison or something. If they didn't give the defense said evidence, and they get away with doing that, that's just crazy to me. They can claim it was an accident all they want, but we know that prosecutors in this country are malicious, and there are countless instances of them withholding evidence and getting people thrown in jail over nothing.

The lessons everyone should take away from this are:

A. Our gun laws suck.

B. Our criminal justice system sucks because prosecutors and judges are addicted to lying and grossly misusing their powers.

This trial has been a complete embarrassment. I don't know how any trial in this country could be fair based on what I see here. The prosecution always has no moral qualms with just doing what they want, and the judge can pick a side and stick to it, abuse their power constantly, and nobody can stop him.

It isn't okay for prosecutors to lie and pull bullshit just because the public rightfully doesn't like the defendant. This isn't acceptable at all, and if they do it to him they'll do it to anyone. There can't be 'inadvertent' mistakes when these cases lead to people being sent to prison.

Also, yeah, this should be a mistrial. Prosecutions need to start being held to the standard of not making mistakes. It's impossible to undo what they did. They sent a compressed, shitty video to the defense while withholding a higher resolution video for themselves. They said it was an accident. They don't get to make accidents. They send innocent people to jail for 20 years and we find out later they made an accident. No, they don't get to do that. When you have an accident the case should be thrown out and they should have to start over. I'm sick of hearing about innocent people (almost always black) getting sent to prison because a prosecutor fucked up or lied or whatever, and then you only find out about it decades down the road. When you catch them in the middle of fucking up you have the obligation to make them start over. IMO.

As awful and fucked up as the Judge was, it was the Prosecution that withheld evidence from the Defense. At best there should have been a Mistrial. I think Rittenhouse is a POS but a lot of the claims that were made early on about what happened don't match with what was said in the trial. @909 has done a good job explaining why the media and others have fucked up the narrative of this case in chat and why everyone involved in this whole thing were idiots so I'm not even going to try because I'd probably mess it up. It's just a lot of insanity.

They did get the vehicle (red SUV) and they do have a suspect in custody. Just horrifying and crazy that such an event would occur and that the SUV literally went through roadblocks before running kids and people over.

I also read that officers on the scene did fire shots at the SUV but it obviously didn't stop.
