The two game winning streak spoils the fun. The A's are dangerous close to falling behind in their pursuit of being the worst team ever. Figures this happens when they play trash NL teams.
Speaking of, it's a little surprising to look at the standings and see the Detroit Tigers still under .500 but just two games off the lead in the Central. It takes being as bad as the Athletics to fall out of playoff contention this season.

Through 61 games those Red Sox were at -182. The '96 Tigers were -188 through their first 61.
From the stuff only I care about department. The Colorado Rockies have never had an All Star catcher. This season Elias Diaz is currently third in WAR among NL catchers and first among his team. Excellent opportunity to break that drought.

Charles Johnson was a two time All Star but only for Marlins but not the Rockies.
Also he was on the Rockies for a lot less longer than I remembered. Probably cause the two seasons he was in Colorado were two seasons I was paying most attention to MLB. Anyway maybe this is a sign I should buy tickets for Charles Johnson bobble head night at the Portland Sea Dogs

This was my thought when watching it. I've never seen a player with the ability to hit a 93 mph fastball that high in the zone before. Turns out there was a reason for it. It just doesn't happen. Elly is a unicorn.

With EDLC, McLain, Greene, Lodolo, Abbott, Diaz, India, Steer and with more prospects on the way the Reds could be primed for a good run starting next year. They also have very little money committed beyond this year. If they can pick up a good number 3 starter they could be in playoff contention by next year.
