It was told in short bursts going backwards in time where you see he's a high ranking alliance officer who makes a mistake that costs thousands of lives. Then as it goes backwards you see his viciousness in climbing the ranks. And when it gets to the end you see that he was a plant from what would be an early resistance from the start and he caused all of those deaths on purpose.

What fiends rated the Book book so poorly? That was an awesome one-shot, it handily explained all of Book's mysteries in a fairly compelling manner. As for the new Inara thing... meh... felt like the kind of fanfic-ish answer that I would've come up with myself.

I was bored so I tallied up the episodes written for each Buffy season and was surprised at some of the numbers. Still wonder why Drew Goddard wrote Dirty Girls instead of Doug Petrie (who wrote Bad Girls, Enemies, and This Year's Girl.)

Jane Espenson: S3 = 3. S4 = 5. S5 = 6. S6 = 4. S7 = 6. A lot of her work is very hit or miss, especially in the latter seasons (Pangs, Intervention, Flooded, Doublemeat Palace).
David Fury: S2 = 1. S3 = 2. S4 = 4. S5 = 3. S6 = 5. S7 = 3. Wrote the ep that made me love Dawn (Real Me) but also wrote the polarizing Lies My Parents Told Me.
Marti Noxon: S2 = 6. S3 = 5. S4 = 4. S5 = 3. S6 = 2. S7 = 1. What stunned me is that despite falling off writing wise, she wrote a lot of worst ep ever candidates. She also often wrote the lesser of two part episodes (Surprise, Consequences, Wrecked)
Joss Whedon: S2 = 6. S3 = 5. S4 = 4. S5 = 3. S6 = 1. S7 = 2.

Whenever I saw an episode was written by Marti, I knew it was going to be a tough road ahead. Especially if Riley was in it.

Bumping this because I just read through this thread from the beginning...

I forgot how FOX FOX was even under a new president/executive staff. It seems like half the posts in the first 2-3 pages are complaining (mostly be me admittedly) about how FOX is screwing Dollhouse or castrating Dollhouse whilst pretending anything else that happened would have happened otherwise.**

** e.g. ratings wouldn't be awful for a Friday night slot with almost zero promotion for a show subject that was already a bit rich for casual viewers.

I'm about to start watching Buffy from the beginning. I've seen the majority of the episodes but I always seemed to have caught the self contained "filled" episodes so I missed out on most of the major plot points.

So did you ever go about watching Buffy? I always like hearing thoughts from people who haven't seen the series.

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been ordered to series by ABC. From IGN:

We all assumed it was a sure thing, but it's now finally official - ABC has picked up Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a series, debuting this fall.

Co-written by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen and directed by Joss Whedon, the S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot was filmed back in January - one of the earliest pilots to go into production this year. It was obviously a high profile project, both as an offshoot of the uber-successful Marvel movie series and specifically as a follow-up/spinoff of Whedon's amazingly huge Avengers movie, the third highest grossing film ever.

Along the way, ABC cautioned they had not given the greenlight to the project beyond the pilot stage, but it would have been shocking if it hadn't been picked up, given all the factors involved. The massive success of Iron Man 3 only cemented the fact that a Marvel-centric TV series was a highly desirable commodity at this point.


Clark Gregg reprises his role from the Marvel films as Phil Coulson in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., joined by a cast that includes Ming-Na Wen, Elizabeth Henstridge, Iain De Caestecker, Brett Dalton, Chloe Bennet and J. August Richards.

TVLine notes that the first promo for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air this weekend, during Sunday night's Once Upon a Time finale.

I kinda have the sinking feeling this show is gonna be turrible. And I have no real basis for this at all, especially since Little Whedon and his wife have gotten much better as TV writers over time. I guess the basis would be that it seems like a dumb idea for a TV show.

I think it could be quite good outside the Avengers universe, but will suffer for its association with the absurdly grandiose spectacle of the movie franchises. It's also going to be challenged to create any sort of tension that can actually be resolved within the parameters of the show itself, since the default answer to any big problem in this universe really should be "oh, give Captain America or Iron Man or any of those guys a call and tell them to deal with it."

Why not Luke Cage? That's the thing, Marvel has a goldmine of characters which have never been seen on a screen. There's hundreds and hundreds of neat superpowered characters, with established powers and backstories and everything, which Marvel already owns. They can put pretty much whoever they want into this show. I mean, there's soooo many. Like, Hobgoblin. Hobgoblin was mostly a Spiderman villain, but he fought Daredevil and various others too. And he's a neat character, a spinoff of the Green Goblin but different enough that he has his own sets of goals and motivations. There's a thousand Hobgoblinish characters in the 616 that could easily be adapted here. Hell, wouldn't anyone else like to see what a Joss Whedon version of Squirrel Girl would be like?

Ok, so now I think he is playing Patriot. Bastard preview has left me so many ideas on who he could be within the Marvel universe! Eli Bradley now takes the lead for the shield line.

And that really looks more and more entertaining.

I have a feeling it's "unauthorized" in the sense that they didn't get approval from a studio and/or official big name company to do this and are going more of an independent route.

Both writers worked on the recent 50 Year Mission oral histories of Star Trek books.

Looks AMAZING and it's over 500 pages(!) so it should be an awesome read. I've literally been waiting for months, counting down the days, when I saw this was coming out
