Re: Conan Blows

O’Brien succeeded Letterman as host of “Late Night” in 1993 after Letterman left the show to begin his LATE SHOW on CBS. O’Brien hosted “Late Night” until 2009, when he became host of “The Tonight Show” until January 2010. Yada Yada Yada. In November 2010, he began another chapter in his career with the debut of his late night cable talk show, “Conan,” which he currently hosts.

Re: Conan Blows

The intro last night by Craig Ferguson to the episodes in Scotland was some of the best shit on television. Bagpipe playing woman in a schoolgirl outfit, dancing Secretariat, Steve Jones of the Sex Pistols and the fucking TARDIS of Doctor Who!

Leading into a week of Mila Kunis in Scotland. Yeah, I'm in.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to watch this. The week of the show in France with Kristin Bell and Jean Reno was incredible

Re: Conan Blows

First episode was him and Mila in a graveyard talking about books, death, religious beliefs and her skipping around leading to them cuddling in front of a giant fucking monument. Then we got him and Michael Clarke Duncan taking about the time Craig got his ass kicked ending with them both deciding to go around time and pick fights [unseen but funny just hearing them decide to do it]. Both of other shit that was funny, dark at times (Mila's preference for the disposal of her remains when she dies!) and educational too.

Plus more of Michael Caine in space in Scotland.

Re: Conan Blows

I watched the Monday and Tuesday episodes and that chick from Alaska is really, really, really dumb

Like, really dumb. WTF is her deal. I mean, she's cute, but is she semi-retarded?

No, she's just from Alaska. I mean, look at Sarah Palin. I think it's just an Alaskan thing. Her cuteness is high but her brain power is beyond low.
This show has been extremely educational this week. I'm learning about Scotland, Alaskan women, Mila Kunis's views on death, and how to smoke cook fish. It's grand.

Re: Conan Blows

MTV is getting into the talk show game again. They are developing a show hosted by former Fallon writer Sara Schaefer and alternative comic Nikki glaser that will air weeknights at 11. They've failed at pretty much every attempt at this. And apparently the show will have no script and be completely ad libbed

Re: Conan Blows

Posted it in The Dark Knight thread but for people watching Late Night TV who don't go in movie threads until the movie is out, supposedly in Anne Hathaway's interview last night on Letterman, Letterman spoiled the ending to The Dark Knight Rises. We'll see if this becomes a bigger story but figured I would post it in case anyone avoiding spoilers accidentally stumbles into it.

Re: Conan Blows

There's still people debating if it was the real ending or him screwing around. Whatever he said, he did it during the actual interview with Hathaway, making it difficult to cut out. I don't know much because I tend to not even read reviews for movies until they are out to avoid spoilers, so I'd be pretty pissed if it got dropped in a random interview I was watching two weeks before release.

The one thing I did see is if whatever he said was true, there are gonna be some upset fanboys.

Pretty sure it was a joke. Dave hasn't seen the movie yet. He just said the thing to see how'd she'd react.

Are you sure he hasn't seen it? It's been shown to lots of people it seems. Seth Myers had seen it when he interviewed her on Live with Kelly.

Even if he has, it's obvious he is taking a stab at the fanboys who freak out about spoilers about something they have been saying for months. I mean, Nolan may kill Batman at this point that it happens, it's anti-climatic.

Plus killing Batman could simply being Bruce Wayne saying "Fuck it, I quit, this city is fine".

Re: Conan Blows

Adam Pally was fucking HILARIOUS tonight. He said so many things that could be considered awful that the crowd was dead for a lot of it. Mostly him saying that his wife would get hammered constantly while hammered. Conan had to save him and say that he was joking (he was but deadpanned it and looked completely serious while going with it). Pretty great.

Re: Conan Blows

I've been watching him since I was 14 so this is tough but the show really does suck now. I can't even get through a full episode. All the bits are retreads and even when they try something new it's just not there anymore. And for whatever reason he just can't get big time guests anymore. I would say even at this point Letterman is putting on a better show (and he's pretty bad now too) The only time the show is worth anything is when they do remotes

Jenna Elfman was on Conan tonight and was GREAT. I highly suggest catching the repeat tonight if you can.

Re: Conan Blows

Conan is on location this week (Atlanta) so the shows will probably be really good again. Off to good start this week already with Jack McBrayer's April Fool's joke.

Re: Conan Blows

It's pretty funny that when he took over late night it looked like he'd never get a shot at the big job since conan was just taking it over for like...20 years or so. Now just a few years later its his.

Re: Conan Blows

Unlike when they made the decision to go with Conan, this is the right time for a switch, since Leno is only pulling 3.5 million viewers on average and now they have a "young" (not really) competitor in Kimmel pulling viewers away at 11:35, but if this ends with Leno stealing the show back while Team Fal-Fal cries and protests outside 30 Rock, I am gonna laugh so fuckin' hard.

Re: Conan Blows

Leno lost a lot of likability the last time this went down...which is why his ratings aren't as good. So it's a cause and effect. Ironically he's gaining likability this time.
