I actually rather like the design of the armor they released today, but, alas, non-removable helmet. It's a little too weird talking to people through glass all the time.
Thinking about it, the only thing I didn't like quite as much as the original game was the lack of conversations in the N7 missions. Even though most of the side missions in the original game were cut-and-paste affairs with identical bunkers and containers full of meaningless loot, almost all of them had some sort of conversation element where you met a key NPC or two and chose one of several ways to resolve the mission. These really filled out the RPG side of "action RPG," and also led to some of the better callback moments in the second game. The N7 mission environments are definitely better for combat, but it would have been nice to see some that included more than just a combat story. I'm hoping that the upcoming DLC enabling the Hammerhead (a vehicle similar to the Mako in the first game) will open up a few exploratory missions that introduce some NPCs.
