Its VERY simple to do. The hardest process is the actual flashing of the Xbox dvd drive, as you need to purchase (depending on your PC) the following.
1) have a VIA 6421 Sata card to connect the DVD drive
2) A CK3 blaster (this enables you to get the dvd drive to write firmware)
Thats the basics, depending on your DVD drive, you may require other hardware. If you want a basic idea, remove the faceplate of the 360, and tell me what colour wire is visable through the hole beside the memory card ports.

Unrelated question: how easy/difficult is it to mod a 360 & burn games for it? It occurs to me that once I gave up XBL I started playing my PS3 more, and then I stopped playing 360 entirely...the console's got enough exclusives to keep me from outright selling it, but the cheapskate in me insists that I'd be better off modding it & burning the handful of games rather than paying full price for them only to dump them on Glyde at a discount a few months later.
