The Miranda Maverick hype train is a bit off the tracks after tonight. Great showcase for Blanchfield.

I think Pena knew that the best and really only gameplan was to gas Amanda and her options were take a hellacious beating for at least three rounds and hope she tires or turn it into a dogfight and see who'd come out on top. She went with the latter option and it payed off.

I don't know where my disappointment level is for Poirier but the dude straight up choked, literally and metaphorically. Oliveira taking your back is the red zone from a grappling perspective and he just had zero urgency in that moment. He'll still make bank on a fourth Conor fight but I have to believe that's the last time he challenges for a belt which is a sad thought because it almost seemed destined that he was supposed to win.

I'll admit that I don't pay as much attention to men's mma, but does anyone have as many career fights in UFC (18), with a losing record, as Angela Hill?

Mark Hunt would come close after 17 fights but I think he ended up with an even record.

BJ Penn is 16-14-2.
UFC record 12-13-2

one win in his last 11. Shame watching a favorite just kill their legacy like that.

This really is one of those ignore him, and he goes away situations. I imagine he’ll call out Conor, Usman, both Diaz, Fedor, and end up fighting BJ Penn.

When I read this yesterday I would have interpreted the move as "Kayla Harrison is signing with the UFC and Nunes views it as a big enough payday to switch camps" but now that the news has broke that Kayla is re-upping with PFL it's definitely an interesting move.

Didn't Kayla have to lose, like, thirty pounds, just to fight at Lightweight? I don't see her trying to lose another ten pounds, just so that she can fight in the UFC.

She would if they paid her to do it but PFL will pay her the same or more to fight at 155 and crush cans. Easy decision to make.

Agreed. Combine UFC's notorious reputation for not paying their talent, with ESPN's apparent willingness to pay Judo Bae what she wants, and build their entire promotion around her, and accommodate her schedule. Why would anybody give that up?

Ilia/Jourdain and Turman/Vieira were both cancelled before weigh-ins even happened. Tomorrow's card is a Spike TV era undercard that happens to have two title fights on top. Really rough.

Looks like Jessica Andrade is dropping back down to 115. She had great fights there. Probably a good move.
