Smith's corner should be banned from the sport. When your guy is getting beat down so bad he says his teeth are falling out, and you send that guy back out there, you have no business being part of any sport where someone could get killed or turned into a vegetable.

It also is crazy to me how few corners stop fights in this sport. The guy lost two 10-7 rounds. Stop the fucking fight, there's no honor in sending the man out there to die for another round.

Back to back main events where a fighter’s corner failed to protect them. When Smith was telling his corner that his teeth were loose he was pretty much asking them to stop it. As I’m typing this I’m hearing DC say the same thing on commentary.

Saint Preux looked bad. I’ve never thought he was great, but I thought he’d have a better showing.

This. I was texting almost every person that may watch MMA during the 3rd round to see if I was just being to "sensitive" or something. He looked in horrible shape as he was standing up getting pounded against the cage and it was really sad when he said that to his corner after Round 4.

Chael Sonnen had a pretty solid rant about it today with Ariel Helwani.

It's a shame that the beatdown is overshadowing a 40 year old Glover Teixiera on a four fight winning streak and about to re-enter the Top Five in the world. Absolutely incredible achievement for a guy a lot of of people wrote off a long time ago.

Yeah, Glover's performance is one of the best old man performances I've ever seen. Other than the Jones fight, Anthony Smith has looked terrific at LHW and Glover destroyed him. I've always been a fan, so I hope he can maintain the momentum.

Good show on Saturday for fighting, bad show on Saturday for judging. I had Vera, Barboza and Hill all winning their fights and in the case of Hill I thought it was a pretty clear cut victory, the other two fights I'll admit were close on paper.

Also I don't know where he'll stand in the HW history books when things are all said and done but I don't think it can be argued that Alistair Overeem is the best offensive heavyweight fighter ever. The fact that he's been KO'd as many times as he has, still keeps getting wobbled or dropped in fights and is finding ways to put away solid competition this late into such a long career is freaking wild. UFC needs to book him vs Black Beast while they still can because that's a fight that needs to happen.

I had Vera, Ige, and Hill winning but I wasn't outraged at any of the decisions, although I agree with you that Hill losing was probably the "worst" decision.

I generally tend to favor knockdowns over ineffective ground control which was why I thought Barboza and most certainly Hill won.

Also I think the USADA talk surrounding Claudia got a serious boost on Saturday. She look softer then a newborn baby's thigh.

I think Woodley is probably going to kill Burns. The size and power difference is going to be significant and Gilbert has fallen in love with his striking and even if he chooses to try and grapple I doubt he gets the fight to the ground.

Kevin Holland is also going to try and set a record and be the first fighter in UFC history to compete twice in three weeks in two separate weight classes.

I've literally been watching Mackenzie Dern for the past 10+ years since she was a blue belt on the BJJ scene. I love her to death because everyone I know personally who has gone to Arizona to train with her and her dad say she is a total sweetheart. But the accent controversy is also the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen in combat sports.

He's absolutely done as a top five fighter and maybe as a fighter period. With how infrequently he's been fighting coupled with injuries and an obvious weakness in the mental game I'm not sure he ever regains top form again.

Burns looked great though, full credit to him. This was his first legit win at WW but it might net him a title shot regardless because it sounds like Masvidal has pussed out on fighting Usman 'cause he's talking rematch with Nate now.

No point in putting this in the rumors thread, might as well make this the catch-all folder for fight stuff but UFC has announced that Fight Island is actually Yas Island in Abu Dhabi where they've held shows before. Next show is UFC 251 in July, main event is Kamaru Usman vs Gilbert Burns for the WW title.

You guys think Burns is a value at +180? Asking for a guy who likes making betting on MMA...I'm not sure I see him winning but if there is good value, I could head that way.

I actually think his odds get better closer to the day of the fight. That said if a lot of people are on Burns's side it probably gets bet down closer to +150 until fight week.
