Is it common for the Number One contender to be the underdog in a match where they're not fighting the champion?

The rankings are bullshit anyway, but it happens more than you'd think.

Good card on Saturday. Blaydes/Volkov has suck potential if Curtis falls back on old habits but I think Alexander is going to make him work for a win.

Burgos vs Emmett is the real money fight though. Can't wait for that one.

Blaydes was gassed so hard in the fifth that I really thought he was going to lose.

Blaydes is working his way towards the Jon Fitch/Yushin Okami spot. Where he’s only getting a title shot when there’s literally no one else to give it to.

And to make things worse he straight up told everyone he was going to fight that way. Dana and Shelby are going to make him fight every single top contender until he's cleared out the division OR wait until Ngannou gets the belt and then deny him a shot because he's 0-2 against him.

I want Poirier to whoop Hooker's ass tomorrow night. That is all.

After seeing the way that Barboza fucked him up with kicks and body work I think Poirier can replicate the same result but I am in no way counting out Hooker. Dude is game as fuck.

Damn that was a fun main event. Close fight. Been a fan of Dustin’s for a while.

Perry using his interview time to bitch about taxes was great.

Really fun card overall. Some big knockouts and nice subs tonight.

Great card, I think that set a record for most third round submissions in UFC history. Fat Villante making his HW debut by getting submitted by an arm triangle from the bottom is what I wanted out of that fight, Bosser hit Lins with the entire Family Meal Deal combo, Hansen's whizzer to armbar was sick too. Woodson vs Erosa would have had FOTN in the bag on any other card but there was no way that main event wasn't doing to deliver. I don't know where in the annals of time the narrative was written that Poirier is a glass cannon but that shit is just plain wrong, the dude is insanely tough and is arguably the best action fighter in UFC history. Poirier vs Tony next in The Battle for My Dick.

Both Masvidal & Colby said they are ready, thinking either one happening around .0000001%.

The amount either guy is going to have to get paid to take this fight is going to be insane.

Mas would be fun because it’s new. And Colby would be fun because the last fight was great and he got his jaw broken.

Yeah with the other two title matches, I don't see the UFC that worried about plugging in an opponent with less than a week left. I am more on the fence about ordering now, but will still probably do it, but it will open up another PPV with Usman defending the title. It may depend on how soon he wants to fight too.

Kudos to him. I was really surprised because I know Jorge likes a good pizza or two when he isn't in camp, maybe since the first round of negotiations were not so long ago he kept himself in good enough shape to get to 170 on short notice.

You think so? I hope so, but I see Usman standing for about 2 minutes and then trying to wrestle him for the next 23.

Jorge has very good BJJ, Maia said the best that he ever faced. I would not rule him out on the ground.

I want to know how much money got thrown at Masvidal to take this fight because they gave it to Burns in the first place because Jorge was asking for what they perceived to be too much. Crazy shit though, this is arguably one of the best short notice upgrade fights in recent memory and I honestly think he (Mas) has a legit shot even though my greatest concern is that Usman is going to be physically too powerful for him.
