Went to Bestbuy to get a game or two, and of course they had plenty of WiiUs in stock. But better safe than sorry since if I hadn't pre-ordered online I'm sure they'd have been out. But anyway they had every game available, which surprised me since Walmart only had a couple and none of the 'big' ones. So I was able to pick up Mario Brothers U and ZombieU, as well as a pro controller. Bring on tomorrow!

I was at a Best Buy today and they had none, but plenty of games. A few pro controllers but only in white. I was thinking of picking up a spare tabletroller but they didn't have any. I asked a friend of mine how we were supposed to play Mario with just one and was told Wiimotes work just fine. So what am I getting here exactly, then?

Whenever someone successfully transfers their Wii VC games to the WU, and if it is done between now and Tuesday night, talk about how easy or difficult it is please.

They aren't selling the tablet controller separately IIRC.

Reading Twitter "Why exactly am I buying this thing?" seems to be the question of the day.

The system looks fun but I know I'll never put the time into it to make it worth the purchase.

I'm not even sure if the system supports two tablettrollers. The WiiU supports all Wii controllers, and I assume multiplayer for games is being built with the 1 tablet limit in mind. I'm not worried.

I did have to settle for the white pro-controller, but I don't care if the controller matches my system.

The system supports two tablets but none of the games currently out do, so they're not selling it separately until there's a game out that would make it necessary to own a separate one.

Picked up the 8GB system this afternoon. Every Wal-Wart and Target I stopped in, in my town (just in case a black one was still available) had nothing left other than games.

So I just focus on extra Wii Plus controllers then? I only have the one that came with Zelda, plus my two original non-motion plus controllers.

Is this system going to be a crazy re-seller like the Wii was the first year? Wondering if I should pick one up if I see it and sit on it for a few weeks.

Fun fact: The first you will do when you get this thing home is download a five gigabyte firmware update, taking about 4-6 hours time.

If you turn off your Wii U during this process, you will brick it.

I saw one tonight at Meijer. Nearly bought it, but it looked like it was only pulling in $380ish on Ebay. After tax and Ebay fees there wasn't much profit room there

This! Just start downloading the patch before you go to school/work in the morning and you should be ok.

Wow that's crazy! I'm just glad/lucky I have/pay-for a connection where I can download 5GB in under 2 hours.

Also, don't forget to post your NN IDs in the online ID thread!

Best Buy had a few in stock, so I bought the deluxe set and Mario. I really don't need this and feel a little jerked around by Nintendo with the 3DS, but I have no self control. Oh well.

I didn't bother to pick one up. I'll get one eventually, probably, but until there's a game I want that really needs it, I can hold off.

So a mandatory 5 GB update on Day 1 when half the consoles they just sold only have 8 GB of storage space? Yikes.

I would assume system updates use the part of the harddrive locked off from personal storage anyway.

Well, getting this thing online is a fucking pain in the ass. I can get it to connect to my router but it won't take the final step to the internet. The Universal TV remote thing is working great so far. It practically instantly worked with my Rogers cable box.

Finally got the internet to work. I had to add a decicated IP address to get it to connect. Downloading the update now and it's moving pretty fast. I expect it to be done within an hour. I am not so sure this patch update is actually sn entire 5GB. I think the size of the OS after the update is 5GB and some people are creating confusion and stating that that is the download size.

Hooked mine up, and it is currently downloading the update. I had no problems getting my connection & connecting to the internet.

This background music is p. soothing.

Yah, apparently the connectivity issues are with specific routers. I'm lucky enough to have one, hoorah. =/

I'm at 87%, so it looks like the update will take a little less than an hour. I've got basketball, so I won't get my network ID set up until later.

I read an article where someone had a hell of a time (as in, he never got it finished and needs to pay $60 if he wants to) transferring VC titles.

I am transferring my Wii stuff now and it seems pretty easy. The transfer progress screen/animation with Pikmen carrying your files from Wii to the SD card is awesome.

I'm undecided on if I'm going to move mycwii stuff over or just leave it on the Wii and play that in another room.

I'm thinking mine won't show up until tomorrow. Which would be fine if it hadn't told me today and got my hopes up. Oh well. Local bestbuy still had half a dozen or so 8gb models when I was there today. My wife who hadn't heard of this until a week or so ago is now super excited to play it and said maybe we should buy one in store so we can have it now and then we can have one in the living room and one in the bed room. I had to point out that dropping three hundred bucks to play a system one to two days early is a pretty bad financial move.
