I am having more fun with Nintendo Land then I ever expected I would. Right down to the creepy robot guide stalking you everywhere you go. ;)

What's your ID Nymysyz?

The creepy robot is kind of annoying at first when it's just tutorial after tutorial after tutorial, but after she stops stalking you everytime you leave a gate she's fine. She sounds like the characters in Animal Crossing if they actually spoke works.

So I was going to go and pick up Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper.. but I've read that the Wii U version has awful slow-down. I think I'll change that to Ninja Gaiden 3. I've been hearing a lot of great things about this version. Apparently it's leaps and bounds better than the previous release on 360/PS3, to the point where it regularly scored about 25% higher in reviews.

I think I'm going to have to return ZombiU, as it give me motion sickness. I think it's due to the use of both control sticks to move around. I wish there was a way to customize the controls so that 1 stick controls movement/turning.

You probably don't play much FPS, then, right? My girlfriends brother was like that.. he used to get really dizzy when he would try to play any first-person game. He eventually got over it, but I have no idea how. =\

I am not so sure this patch update is actually an entire 5GB. I think the size of the OS after the update is 5GB and some people are creating confusion and stating that that is the download size.

BTW, I can confirm that this is the case. I only downloaded three things on Monday the 19th - the Wii U system update, an update for New Mario and an update for Zombi U. My total usage for that day was 1.9GB.

Yeah I kind of figured it wasn't 5GB, because I don't have the best internet connection in the world and I got it way quicker than I could have gotten 5gigs.

Re: FPS motion sickness. My wife has this problem. Not all first person games do it to her, but most do. She'll get sick just watching me play a game. I'd hate it if it happened to me, but there are plenty of games she can play without a problem so it doesn't bug her too much. And it means she doesn't nag me to play FPS games together. Oh and it can happen on movies too, 99% of the time she's fine, but shaky cam really fucks her up. She had to leave the theater during Hunger Games.

If not I would for watching a Michael Bay movie.

Though funny you said that, because while I'm sure you meant shit like Transformers, I do remember her having to turn away for a bit during The Island. I mean I wanted to turn away because the movie sucked, but she had to so she didn't throw up.

Nah, I don't play many FPS. I was fine playing Goldeneye & Perfect Dark on the N64. Twisted Metal & Twisted Metal 3 on the Playstation gave me problems, too, but not Twisted Metal 2. I don't feel "sick" like I've gotta throw up, but I get a headache & sort of an upset stomach, but not to the point of throwing up.

Yeah, the YouTube app is pretty awful, I can't seem to find a way to watch videos on the gamepad. Going to YouTube on the web browser and watching through there seems like a better option.

Yeah the only plus about the YouTube app on consoles for me is being able to watch trailers on my TV. Wii U specifically I don't think you can watch them on the pad.

Also this Miiverse is awesome. DrVenkman Mii wanders to the center of my screen to tell my Mii that he loves 30 Rock!

Someone responded to my statement of "All toasters toast toast" with a drawing of CD-I Mario and a toaster. I love the Miiverse.

I was surprised that I couldn't find any screen protectors for the tablet at bestbuy. Then today I found them and other types of protectors and cases and such...in the area of the regular wii accessories. I'd have thought to look there before except they had the other wiiu things with the wiiu games. Odd. Anyway I finally got a screen protector and just it it on, holy shit this ting went in smooth. First screen protector I've ever put on anything where there wasn't even one small bubble somewhere at first.

I also got the Nerf armor thing case for the tablet, because why not. It came with a stylus pen I doubt I'll ever use, but the screen protector came with two extra regular styluses, so that's nice.

Holy shit is YouTube so much better in the browser. Gamepad viewing, you can access your favorites list, and videos with ads are watchable. I don't even know what the point of the YouTube app is if it's going to be sooooooo much better to use the browser. I had just assumed the browser didn't work with YouTube.

I really love the WiiU Netflix app. It looks almost exactly like the 360 version (I don't like the PS3 one at all) but the Gamepad adds extra info / options. One of my nitpicks with Netflix on the 360 when it comes to TV shows is you can only select the title and it starts playing an episode that follows where you left off. I guess if you're going in chronological order this is fine, but even that is sometimes wrong (I've had random episodes appear as unwatched between other episodes and it starts where it thinks it should, if you follow me on that one), but it's really nice to bring up an episode list before loading the video when you're doing random picking and choosing.

Thanks to living in the middle of nowhere, we have high speed satellite internet with a 10gb a month limit. So, if I am going to get system or game updates, I have to be really careful not to burn up our limit. I haven't gotten the 5gb update yet, but somehow my WiiU decided to d/l the newest update on it's own the other night.

On the Wii, there was that WiiConnect24 thing that essentially left the system in permanent standby mode, with the occasional flashing blue disc slot if something new became available. I turned it off, because I never used the thing. (Unfortunately, this also disabled features like the news and weather channels for some dopey reason that I just attributed to Nintendo being Nintendo re: online.)

Anyhoo. I would imagine there's probably a setting in the Wii U to turn that off. At least, you would hope so.

Yeah that first "major" update was only around 1GB or so. Apparently there is a new "system stability" update live now, as well. Not sure of the size, though.

The original Wii was never the system to play if you wanted sick graphics. Don't get me wrong, there were some gorgeous games (Muramasa and Skyward Sword come to mind), but for the most part, games looked distinctly previous-gen. My fiance and I were visiting some friends last weekend, and their son was playing Force Unleashed. That has to be the most ass ugly game to hit the Wii. He was mainly playing the first level, but I swear I've seen PSX games that looked far better.
