Rise of the Tomb Raider will come to Windows PC early 2016; PS4 late 2016. And apparently there's an Xbox 360 version out in November along with Xbox One.
Mafia 3 is being unveiled next week. I know a lot of people think highly of 2 and I liked it enough. It will be interesting if they try and make it more of an open world game instead of a more linear story-driven game like 2 was.
Oh my....how the fuck does one developer (RoboMoto) get to make FOUR straight middling (Tony Hawk HD) to outright bad (their other three) games without consequence?
I got into the Need for Speed closed beta. The gameplay is solid (not a surprise since its made by people who did Burnout and NFS: Hot Pursuit) but the story wrappings are weird, like someone watched the first few Fast and Furious movies (before they got crazy) way too much.
Also, the Great FMV Game Renaissance of 2015 continues here.
It really angers me that if I just want to play the Portal level in Lego Dimensions I have to shell out $130. I'd be fine with paying $60 to just play that part, bit it's ridiculous the base game is 100 and then just Portal is another $30. And there's a new Coulton song with it so I HAVE to play it. I'm not paying 130 but I don't know how long I can hold out, so I'm likely to still end up dropping ~100. Fuck Skylanders for starting this horseshit. And fuck you, the reader, too just because I'm bitter! Fuck everything!
I understand that part, and it'll be neat to have Lego portal stuff. Now the weighted companion cube will really never thr eaten to stab me because it can't make a sharp point. But the previous Lego games I've played bored me to tears, so it's literally $120 just to play a portal level. There's a simpsons expansion too, and that could be neat, but not if I've already had to drop $120 for my fucking portal level.
I think it is a combination of all those Skylanders/Disney Infinity being expensive, plus Lego always being pricey and likely more money for licensing outside characters like they did.
Skylanders seemed like something I would've loved as a kid and I would've driven my parents nuts. But I was able to stay away as an adult.
Disney Infinity was tempting and more tempting when they rolled out Marvel. They had a starter set at Best Buy as a deal of a day for like $14.99 a couple weeks ago and I stayed away. No need for me to buy all those figures.
The LEGO one seems cooler than ever but I really don't need a new thousand dollar hobby. I barely get around to playing all the normal games I have as is.
Batman: Arkham Knight is back on Steam. Price is now $50 (same in Canadian Dollars). Anyone who already owns, or buys the game by Nov 16 gets Arkham Asylum, City, Origins, and Origins Blackgate free. Also a free "Community Challenge Pack" in January, and a TF2 cosmetic items contest.
Arkham Knight may still kinda suck on PC. (Surprise!) Among other issues...
"For Windows 10 users, we’ve found that having at least 12GB of system RAM on a PC allows the game to operate without paging and provides a smoother gameplay experience."
Black Ops 3 for PC will have modding and map tools, will allow third-party unranked servers, and provide an unranked server browser. Scheduled to start in closed alpha in March 2016.
