Russia Invades Ukraine

I wonder what the percentage is on how many of those men don’t believe in the war, especially the ones taken from higher education.

If they're being forced into it, they probably don't believe in it.

There's a big difference between supporting a war in theory and wanting to actually go fight in it. Do you think MikeSC was going to suit up and go over to Iraq?

Russian support for the war was quite broad, even if some of it was achieved through disinfo and other things. The more bad news and the longer the war has gone the more support has dropped.

Russian, American, whatever. It's not going to magically change from one geographic area to the next. If they're for a war, they sure as shit won't be fighting it.

Yeah, Putin could do the right thing and call this whole thing off ASAP but he'd be seen as a loser and coward and I think he'd much rather prefer being the driving force behind World War III over that.

If he called it off he'd be overthrown or at least he assumes so. He has to keep it going until things turn around because his entire image is based on being a Strong Man. The fact it isn't likely to turn around just makes things worse and more dangerous.

Why would China do that?

Russia being isolated from most of the world markets means they have to rely on China more. Also Putin isn't going to listen to anyone even if China was inclined because he thinks it's his life and legacy on the line. Unless Putin starts setting nukes off China has no real reason to want to intervene.

Yea that's gonna be a hard no. They shouldn't be allowed in and we're already at the brink of a nuclear exchange as it is. Like if people understood how close we were, they would be freaking the fuck out right now.

We're currently in a position where Russia is a cunthair away from hitting Ukraine with tactical nukes because losing this war is not an option for them. Our leaders could at any moment be deciding whether or not it's right to do anything or to strike Russia back and end the world. And this could all happen literally at any time, any minute.

Tbh if we knew things would escalate to this extent our governments probably just would have let Russia take Ukraine. Ukraine being able to fight back has however created an incredibly dangerous scenario.

Russia pulling out of Kherson is a big deal basically. It's the only regional capital they've managed to take this entire time.

The US has also estimated that Russia has suffered over 100k dead or injured in the war so far. https://apnews.com/article/russia-u...efs-of-staff-688e99d37f25ac8340b6a96a79a89abf

2 dead in Poland after Russian missiles crossed the border. Technically speaking Poland COULD use Article 5 to bring NATO into war against Russia over this. I very much doubt it will happen unless more missiles land but it's now theoretically on the table.
