Hello all!
Hope you are enjoying the picking and placing of blocks! Just wanted to let you know that Minecraft on PS3 recently sold over 1 million copies (that has to be some kind of record on PSN, no?). It is crazy considering the game was released just before Christmas last year. We are super grateful for the support and we are very thankful for your dedication and I hope you will like the future updates we have planned for you (more on that in a later blog post).

Metro: Last Light and Remember Me both free in February. It's been said ad nauseum, but PS Plus is seriously great.

METRO has it's flaws, but it's really fun, and FUCKING hard as hell in some parts.. but not in a controller-smashing way. I had purchased the physical copy but traded it in a while back. Will defo grab that free version so I take another crack at getting Platinum. ;)

to those asking about the input lag, I'll think of how to make a video of that.

Other than that, it handles quite awesomely. I actually have a further save file where I tested the co-op story with a friend through the service.

--

The reason The sound doesn't play from the game at the beginning is due to my HDMI cable having handshake issues.

I don't know why but I can trick my PS3 into loading Hulu Plus properly. I made an American based user, have the US DNS on, download the app... then it loads up the logo and goes to a blank screen. I deleted it and reinstalled it and got the same result.

Hulu said:
If the Hulu Plus application on your PlayStation 3 fails to load or is stuck on a screen with a message that reads "Loading...", it is likely because the system date and time is incorrect. Please reset the PlayStation 3 system time and date by following the steps

Well I don't need to do the steps because my clock is correct.

Is the Daylight Saving Time setting correct? I remember Giant Bomb having issues with Gran Turismo 5 because of that. The PS3 firmware doesn't automatically change the DST setting when applicable.

Well I assumed so because the clock was right... and I did "set by internet".

Edit: And yes, it was on "Standard".

I'm not sure what the issue is, but to add to your process of elimination it's definitely not your PSN account location. That only matters when you are initially downloading the app from the PSN store. I mainly use my Hulu with my Canadian and European accounts, and it works a-OK.

I think it might actually be your DNS provider. You should try a trial with another provider like unblock-us.com and see if it works with them. In the past, I've found that most errors I've had with US Netflix and Hulu were usually because of something wrong on the DNS providers end.

Counter-point: Hulu works just fine on my Wii U, and Netflix on all my devices. This is just... weird. It seems somewhat common in web searches too but no one had a real answer. A lot of "oh it works now".

Counter-point 2: I'm pre-paid for all of 2014 with my DNS so...

Well, you should try another one out (Unblock Us gives a 7 day trial) just to see if it is that DNS and your PS3 - at least that way you can open a support case with them to ensure you're getting the most out of what you've paid for. From what I gather, those services run through the consoles own networks before they get out to the Netflix/Hulu servers. So it could very well be how your DNS provider is interacting with PSN.

Do you have a 360 as well? If so, you should also try it on there to see if you have the same issue via that console/network.

I do (and that works fine too) but Hulu is difficult to get when your account is locked in as Canadian to your one Gold account. I'll see what happens if I try unblock-us later.

This might be a dumb question, but can you download the free Playstation Plus games on multiple consoles? I know it works with DLC typically as I've had a friend dl his CoD maps for me.

But for instance I downloaded Payday 2 off Plus which is free this month. Going to my friend's house later. If I log on to his console and redownloaded it, will he still be able to play after I leave? And if so, will it expire when the month is up?

You have to activate his console for you, or him, to be able to download and play the games, and you can only have 2 consoles activated for games.

Does that work cross platform as well? So if I 'activate' his PS3 console today. When I buy a PS4, planning to anyway, in March, am I going to have problems downloading things on Plus?

edit- Ah, well google searched it, and the whole process just kind of seems like a hassle. So I think I'll just be keeping it to myself to prevent any PS4 problems lol.

I might be the only one here to care about this but, holy shit! They're making a new Deception game! Kagero was definitely one of my favorite games on the PSX, and both 1 and 3 were pretty good as well, so I'm super pumped for this out of nowhere. (Let's pretend Trapt never existed, because it looks like Tecmo is doing the same thing.)

Has PSN been mad slow for downloads since the last firmware update (a few weeks ago) for anyone else? I'm still getting great speeds (30-45mbps) on every other device on my network but for some reason my wireless PS3 and wired PS4 both fluctuate between a ridiculous 5kbps and roughly 12mbps.

Oh man, I was really hoping Tomb Raider would become a free Plus game down the line. I've been holding out on buying it for this reason. Really glad to have waited.

Project Morpheus revealed!!

fvchgCi.jpg

Tentative Prototype Specs:
The current dev kit (tentative) has a 1080p display, 90+ degree field of view.
"It's not necessarily the final thing we're going for," but it's good for devs to experiment with.
Tracking builds on PS Move and DualShock 4 technology, "supports forward prediction." Position and rotating head tracking: 1000HZ, 3 Meter Working Volume, Full 360 Degrees
Second question is about if there will be a wire connected from the headset to PS4. "The current prototype is wired" with a five meter wire. They are investigating "other solutions."
Regarding weight, as this is a prototype they're not committing to anything.
They're only cooperating with other VR technology "in spirit." No "standardized APIs."
"Do you plan to use eyetracking inside the device?" They're researching it.
When will it come out? Framerate and latency aims? They won't answer. "Highest framerate we can get, lowest latency we can get," they say, jokingly. "Coming out as soon as possible."

'We believe Morpheus will further enhance PlayStation'. It'll work alongside the camera, and Move.
It's still a prototype, though.
PS Move's technology is being used in Project Morpheus to help with tracking. PlayStation Camera on PS4 is also essential. "It's almost as if it was designed for VR," he said with a wink.
They're using the same tech as PlayStation Move - with a lot higher rate sensors, and the PlayStation Camera.
DualShock 4's sensors and light can be used in conjunction with Morpheus. PS Move may also prove essential.
They want it to be able to be picked up and used with no issues. Pick it up, put it on, you're in VR. Put it down, you're out. No issues.
Finally, we've come to Content. "At Worldwide Studios, we have a really good team." Sony's own studios will "seed" the VR landscape, but they need other devs, hence they're here at GDC.

Current focus is on PlayStation - no talking about how this will, or could, work on PC.

Finally! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/03/19/upcoming-ps4-update-to-add-share-enhancements-and-hdcp-off/

Here at PlayStation, we listen closely to your comments and requests, which are weighted heavily when looking at the future of our platforms. Since PlayStation 4 launched, we’ve heard a lot of great feedback from you about what you like with the platform and what you’d like to see us work on. I’m happy to report that, as a direct result of your feedback, we’ll soon be bringing some of your most-requested features to PS4 with a system software update in the upcoming weeks. These features and additions will help make your PS4 even more socially connected by further enabling you to customize your most epic gaming moments and granting even more options to show them to your friends.

This upcoming update will add a rich video editor with a simple tool to personalize your video clips, and you’ll also be able to export to and save the videos and screenshots you create by pressing the SHARE button to a USB drive. In addition, this update will add an HDCP off option for capturing gameplay via HDMI, a feature we’ve previously said would come after launch. We recognize that some gamers want to record and share longer clips of their gameplay sessions, and we’re excited to deliver this option with PS4. There’s a lot more coming in this update as well, so stay tuned for more—there will be plenty in the update to excite everyone.

As part of a separate system software update in the future, we have been working with our partners at Twitch and Ustream, and will also be adding the ability for Twitch broadcasts to be archived – another highly requested feature among PS4 fans who are taking advantage of the SHARE button features. These broadcasts will be also provided with a higher resolution of 720p, so PS4 fans can enjoy live broadcasts with clearer images. We’ll have more to come on these updates and more in the coming weeks.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/04/16/ps4-update-1-70-coming-soon-introducing-sharefactory/ said:
As we mentioned last month during GDC, we’ll be releasing a major system software update for PS4 that will add some exciting new features that many of you have been asking for. Today, I’m pleased to announce a few of those features from PS4 system software update (v1.70) will be available soon, including features that were incorporated as a result of your great feedback. This will be a significant update, and today we’re excited to bring you a sneak peek of just a few things you can look forward to.

Introducing: SHAREfactory

The 1.70 update will enable SHAREfactory, our new rich video editor app for PS4 that makes it easy for you to customize your gameplay videos.

With SHAREfactory, you can now easily combine your captured video clips for editing, personalize them with special effects using filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with your friends and social networks. SHAREfactory also allows you to personalize your videos by adding text, stickers, and a set of included audio tracks, as well as video commentary with picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera. It also allows you to import your original music to add to the custom soundtrack for your video.

Take Your Share Anywhere

Once you’re done with your masterpiece, you can easily share your SHAREfactory videos to Facebook, or export them to an external USB storage device to upload them elsewhere, another new feature coming as part of the 1.70 system software update. Other PS4 SHARE enhancements include the ability to change the recording time of your gameplay to shorter increments, the ability to change who you share your clips with on the SHARE screen, and the removal of default saves for screenshots and video clips. In addition to these SHARE enhancements, the 1.70 update will allow you switch off HDCP, enabling you to capture video directly from your HDMI output so you can record and share longer clips of your gameplay sessions — a feature I know many of you have been waiting for. We are excited to see what the PlayStation Nation does with these new social features, and cannot wait to get them into your hands!

Play as Soon as the Game is Released

Providing you with immediate access to your games is a priority designed into PS4, and something we will always strive to make better. We’ve had a great response from PS4 fans about the Play as You Download feature, the snappy load times when launching and playing games, and the general speed and responsiveness of the UI. The 1.70 update adds features to build on this idea and make it faster to play the games you pre-order with an auto pre-download capability, which allows you to pre-download your select pre-ordered game up to several days prior to release. If you have the auto-download feature enabled, it will automatically pre-download your pre-ordered game so you can play as soon as the game is unlocked on release day.

As I mentioned earlier, some of these features were a direct result of the great feedback we’ve been getting from you, our dedicated gamer community. We enjoy listening to your comments, and encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts with us. And this is just the beginning. We’ve got a lot more coming in PS4 system software update v1.70 and beyond. The PS4 experience will constantly evolve, and new innovative ideas can come from anywhere to ensure the platform continues to deliver the best in gaming and entertainment every time you turn it on.

We’ll have more information to share about new upcoming features for this major system software update as the release approaches, so stay tuned!
