Other than getting your PS3 fixed so that it could do a system transfer, no. The HDD, once formatted, is tied to the hardware unless you do a system transfer between two PS3's. Did you have anything backed up in the PS+ cloud?

It was an original BC PS3, so it's the PSX and PS2 saves that I wish I could recover. I don't suppose the cloud backs those up does it?

DAMN! I wish Blood Dragon was on PS4. I have the PS3 hooked up in the bedroom so I can still play PS3 stuff I never finished, but I honestly have touched it twice since I got the PS4.

I just feel like PS Plus isn't as worth it on PS4 as it was on PS3 (aside from the need to play online games). The games put up for free DL pale to what they were firing out on PS3.

It'll probably be that way for another year or two. The systems are too new and too profitable. By next year will probably be seeing stuff from launch or near launch like Infamous and Watch Dogs.

Amplitude for PS4 is out January 5th. PS3 version's not mentioned today, but this old update said it'd be announced and released afterwards.

From the previews, it seems like a lot of games will be running at the old 4:3 ratio, which I assume means 1440x1080. Some games may have had widescreen support, though. Pretty sure at least some of the GTA games did.

KOTAKU said:
After a year full of rumors, the Kojima/Konami saga appears to be coming to a close, with the Japanese newspaper Nikkei reporting that Hideo Kojima’s time with the company has finally ended.

The legendary designer, best known for developing the Metal Gear Solid series, will reportedly start his own studio with other former Konami staff. Nikkei reports that Kojima and crew are in negotiations with Sony to debut their first game on PlayStation platforms, according to a translation by NeoGAF user Zefah (and corroborated by Japanese-speaking Wired editor Chris Kohler.)

This news comes after a seemingly endless saga of reports about Konami mistreating Kojima. Earlier this month, Game Awards host Geoff Keighley fired shots at Konami for not letting the celebrated game designer come to Los Angeles and accept an award for his most recent game, Metal Gear Solid V. We’ve reached out to Konami many, many times for comment on all this, and we pinged them again today about this news.

You may have seen a GameSpot tweet and report suggesting that Kojima is forming a studio with Sony; that report is based on a mistranslation and is not what Nikkei reported.

I look forward to the eventual release of Quiet Mountains exclusively on PS4. :p

Mistranslation apparently. His console debut will be PS4, but the studio will dev for all platforms and is not actually associated with Sony. Yay, internet!

I'm thinking of buying Madden 16 for $24 on the flash sale.

Is the deluxe edition and pro packs worth it if you're going to play one player?

I'm assuming you plan on playing Ultimate Team otherwise there's no point in getting the Deluxe Edition. It really all depends on how much you plan on playing that mode. If you're going to spend most of your time on Madden with Ultimate Team then it might be worth it. I did find with this year's version it's a lot easier to rack up coins than last year which makes it easier to purchase pro packs.

I ended up with two download codes for Wolfenstein The Old Blood. Anyone have anything of similar (fairly low) value they'd be willing to swap?

Mercenary Kings is frustrating in the best of ways. It plays like Metal Slug but less linear, with a time limit for each mission and crafting mechanics. It's also multiplayer, but the kind that allows up to 4 players co-op to go through the mission at the same time without sharing the screen.

PlayStation VR is coming in October. $399.

I finally feel smart for buying the PS4 Camera for $15 a few months ago!

Same! Canadian price for the VR unit is something like $549 CAD - which is well above exchange rate (it should only be about $515). =\

Still day-one'ing it, though.
