Addendum: Physical or Digital PS3 purchases get you the free Vita version. And from what I have heard, it's the same subscription.

Vita firmware 1.8 is out. If you own a PS3, pretty much every PS One classic you own will transfer over. Notable exceptions are the Spyro series, Crash series, and Final Fantasy 5.

Also: SimCity 2000 won't transfer. :(

Glad that the rest do, though. I maxed out my memory card with pretty much every PSX title I've bought over PSN. I just wish they didn't account lock the Vita.. I really wanted my copy of Fire Pro G on there! :(

I'm not sure. I think it would be accessible either by holding down the touch screen for a few seconds or holding down the PS button for a few seconds. I know both of those bring up different menus and it may be in there with the memory card stuff, etc..

I feel like a dumbass. I'm signed onto my PS Network account on PS3 and Vita, and whenever I try to copy FFVII from my PS3 to Vita, it tells me it can't find anything under applications. Any suggestions?

I know exactly what's wrong. There was a change made in the PS3 firmware from last December: Are you trying to copy the game directly from the list of PS one games you have installed?

That won't work.

You will have to redownload the game, and leave it uninstalled. While it is uninstalled, you will see it in the list of transferrable applications.

Ok, so redownload FFVII onto the PS3, leave it in an uninstalled state, then transfer? Thanks! I'll try that out this weekend.

Guess what game just got added to the PS Vita's PSN Store. You can download it directly, no need to transfer from the PS3.

The Oddworlds were just added as well, previously they were 100% incompatible, now they also are direct downloads.

You can also download that game directly onto the Vita, if that's easier.

Yea, that's what I ended up doing. Left it at my girlfriend's place overnight downloading. Should be good to go by tomorrow.

I had about 26 minutes left on the download. My Vita will not come out of sleep mode, and the PS button stays lit solid blue. Guess I should just wait for the battery to die, then attempt to boot it up. Hope I didn't just turn it into a brick.

Why not just remove the battery and oh right Sony. I still want a Vita, and there's some decent bundle deals out there, but I think at this point I've waited this long I might as well wait for a real price drop, or the inclusion of a large memory stick at the current price.

This happens from time to time. Either hold down the power button for 30 seconds to force shutdown, or hold power button and PS button for 30 seconds. Can't remember which one.

I'll just start sending you PM's whenever I have an issue with my Vita.

What a strange way the Vita has to "switch discs". You can't just tap the PS button like on a PS3, you have to long-tap the screen to switch discs.

Anyone played the new Counterstrike game on PSN? I used to be addicted to the old PC version.

Tokyo Jungle is also out. It's a downloadable title where you play as cats, dogs, deer, etc in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo for survival of the fittest. Petty fun!

So I bit the bullet and pre-ordered Dishonored. It is $54 for Plus members, so I saved 5 bucks. Thing is, I didn't get charged tax on it so it was $54 USD flat. Could it be, Dr Venkman, that the PS Store doesn't charge HST for purchases? I've never checked before..

This could also be because I'm using an American DNS server.. Either way, huzzah!

UPDATE:

Joystiq said:
Sony is working on a PS Vita Remote Play patch for Tokyo Jungle. Sony Worldwide Studios chief Shuhei Yoshida tweeted that North American and European PS3 owners can expect a patch to let them play the game remotely on Vita systems, but he didn't disclose a date.

Sony released a patch for Tokyo Jungle in Japan earlier this month, with Yoshida then tweeting that the North American and European releases would have Remote Play functionality built in. The game , however, came yesterday to PSN without it.

Earlier this month Yoshida teased a Remote Play patch for Ico on Twitter, then the next day the patch went live. Whether or not Tokyo Jungle players can expect a similar timeframe, only Yoshida knows. And other people working at Sony, we presume.

Joystiq:

PlayStation Network has been hitting its stride over the last three months, posting its highest "transactional sales" quarter yet in its six years of existence. In layman's terms that means more people purchased content directly through PSN from April through June of this year than ever before in the service's history.

Jack Buser, Senior Director of PlayStation digital platforms at SCEA, told Joystiq this all started back at E3 with the announcement of the Instant Game Collection, and that "membership sales in PS Plus almost doubled" during the week of E3. Since the launch of the Instant Game Collection, five games have managed to dominate in total downloads: inFamous 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Just Cause 2, Ratchet & Clank All 4 One and Gotham City Imposters.

Buser couldn't dive into what he called "the nuts and bolts" of PSN's performance (see: specific numbers) but did assure me the service is growing and becoming a more integral facet of Sony's approach. He also talked at length about PSN Day 1 Digital, which we'll have for you in a separate piece available later.
