Just one but they were on opposing teams at Survivor Series 2003. Smackdown! went downhill FAST in early 2004. Poor Eddie’s title run was kind of doomed to fail. But I have been told not to start a Ruthless Aggression era thread so I will can it.

If you swap Eddie and Benoit, it works so much better. Eddie wins at WM, and if he cracks you can just shift it back to HHH or Shawn instead of JBL. Not ideal giving them more exposure but if you HAD to do an urgent drop, they were there and would be willing to put Orton over later and fresh matches all across the board. Benoit pays off the Brock feud by winning the title, gets the rematch with Angle playing off the past year's Rumble, and they can do whatever they want until whenever they want to pull the trigger on Cena.

Conrad should film a documentary of JR traveling to England to get this action figure of his baby boy for AFS.
As of a few years ago, the local hardware store in the boonies where I grew up had a 198X GI Joe Walkie Talkie set still sitting for 20 dollars. It has been there since I was a kid. I actually went there around 2002ish and bought some large He-Man and Skeletor cork boards that had been collecting dust since 1984. Once I had some $$ to my name after high school, I saved them.

Edit- the hardware store switched locations over the past year or so, now I kind of want to wander over to the new place and see if it made the move with them.

They hacked the fuck out of it because it was too good and showed up everyone. It's just funny because the hacked up version is already really good.

That's the kind of dumb shit people would pay big for on eBay. First time I've ever heard someone disappointed about getting a Show autograph over a Jarrett autograph, too.

That does suck. WWE should've brought him in anyway for a few appearances. Maybe a bloodbath that is actually red.

When/why did everyone turn on Al Snow so hard? I never minded him much but for some reason the last ten years or so have made me really dislike him.

He's become "old man yells at clouds" in regard to modern wrestling ala Cornette (but not nearly as bad). He has a strong disdain for internet fans as well.

Oh, he also said Abadon was out of shape and would never make a dime in the biz when she was training at his school.

I figured he'd be one of the few older guys to actually get it.

I think it's probably a case of the bullied becoming the bullier. He took so much shit in '80s-'00s that he decided to give it back once he got himself in a position of power.

A few stories came out about his training school:

Ironically enough, when the fanbase shifted toward more heavily favoring workrate and match quality over everything else turned? That's when Snow turned on the fans. Once the fans were at a point where the kinds who praised Snow during his indie runs became the norm is when he started talking about how the main event talent is always the best because they're the ones drawing the money.

There's a YouShoot where Al looks ready to smack Sean Oliver because he said Savage/Steamboat was the best match at WM3 instead of Hogan/Andre. I think he's just so damn jaded and used to being seen as a job guy that the fans turning around and actually respecting what he offered during his prime more than anything else now made him pull an Ole and just look to be hated.

Either that or he's legitimately stupid and doesn't know how to work people into paying money, regardless of era.

yeah I just read an interview with Snow a week or two ago where he was bemoaning wrestlers worrying too much about star ratings and good matches and not enough about their characters. Seemingly completely missing that it was the quality of his matches that got him noticed 25+ years ago

He's not wrong, though. The focus shifting from making sure fans got their money's worth to getting an extra snowflake from Meltz is a big reason so many lapsed fans exist. Only caring about the match in and of itself is a stupid way to think about the medium of pro wrestling, just as much as thinking the matches are entirely arbitrary.
