Very bizarre episode tonight. There had to have been a new writer or something on this one, so many of the jokes were just like they were out of a different show. The Batman joke, Homer threatening Bart with grounding...just felt strange.

When did I get the old man stigma about old TV shows? I get the stigma of guy who LIKES old TV shows, but certainly not one with discriminating tastes (I own 4 seasons of Mr. Belvedere on DVD).

I bought 13 & 20 during the sale....giving the episode guide of season 13 a quick once over, it looks like this is about where I stopped being an "automatic every sunday" viewer of the show. Not that I stopped liking it, I just kind of became a casual viewer and if I missed it, oh well.

So even though these might not be the best years I am about to get into, I am still happy to see I will be watching some eps for the first time.

The show's actually decent again after some rocky times. It's not classic by any means but I'd regularly rank it first or more often second place after American Dad in the Sunday lineup.

I agree. For all the shit it gets these days, justified or not, I would still say it is one of the better options for it's timeslot, especially with DVR, which gives you the option tape it and watch it whenever.

I think this has more to do with Cleveland Show being so unwatchable and Family Guy regressing to the point of being pretty fucking bad than it speaks to a rise in quality of the Simpsons.

American Dad remains awesome though.

I actually agree with CWM. While not at the level of it was at its Season 3 through 8 peak, the episodes I've seen from the last season or two (really, since the movie came out) have been the best in a solid decade. Maybe it's the result of diminished expectations but the show's still consistently pretty good.

Is the sequel the one where he addresses concerns re: the noticing of toilet seats being up?

They're really on a roll. It's gotten a lot darker these last few episodes and I like it.

I just watched last night's episode. They're really doing a vote for deciding Krabappel and Ned's future?

That was a 4th Grade Daily headline.

I'm going to look for more clues on about Mr. Burns' shooter.

So if you like “Stark Raving Dad”, you better acquire old copies of the season sets. Being pulled from ever airing again and will not be included in future physical releases either

It'll be back after a few years. They pulled the New York episode for almost a decade following 9/11 but slowly put it back in syndication with heavy edits. This will get the same treatment.

This is because they are pulling all things Michael Jackson everywhere like they did Cosby. Guessing Theis won’t be coming back as easily as the one that was just being sensitive about showing the World Trade Center.

I have the DVDs. Will always remember the awkward bit on the commentary where they say Michael "insisted he write a song with Bart."

Watching tonight's Simpsons and the music teacher wakes up next to Ian McKellan in bed after his nightmare about his college graduation in 1999.

So many things to think about in opening minute of this show.

Russi Taylor passed at 75. The voice of Martin Price, Uter, Sherri, Terri, and Wendell. Minnie Mouse as well.

Oh wow. I had read about her passing and being the voice of Minnie Mouse since 1986. Didn't realize she did all those voices also - which may partially explain the limited use of those characters in recent years.

The Simpsons has been around so long as I guess it’s normal for cast members to die off. Seems like they never should though.

Weird Season 1 Homer as Walter Matthau voice clips mixed in with classic Homer and then old tired voiced Homer in the newer seasons sounds like a way to get me watching again.
