I downloaded this windows program thats a rom for Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World, and it's awesome. Best rom setup I've seen, and you can use Game Genie codes. It's the shit.

I played through the first few levels of Splinter Cell Conviction.

It's seriously like the developers got their hands on Arkham Asylum and that's why they changed everything in the game from whatever it was a couple of years ago.

That said, it's a fun game so far.

Sometimes I wonder if those games would be recognizable to someone who only played the first Splinter Cell ???

Playing through GTA IV again. Beat it clean a year ago on my roommate's system. Now that I have my own I figure it's a good one to have in the collection.

Picked up Splinter Cell: Conviction today and played the first three missions. Some may say the new approach to gameplay makes the game too easy, but I look at it that it makes you more empowered to do your best Bauer impression without fear of being immediately blown away and having to start the level over again. It's great to throw a grenade one way and let all the gomers run that direction while you go another and pick off the stragglers.

Just finished Zombie Driver.

Story was sort of interesting, although it was only ever explained in tiny tidbits mid-mission (whenever you pick up a survivor they say something, and these two or three-sentence blurbs are all you get for story). Gameplay was alright. Difficulty ramping up was acceptable, I never felt like "This is too easy, I am clearly dominating" but I also never felt like "holy shit this game got hard".

At the end of it all, though, I couldn't help but be a bit...annoyed, underwhelmed, some mix of the two. There's no minimap from what I can see, so the majority of my failed missions consisted of me getting destroyed due to being unable to find where the fuck I was supposed to go & thereby exposing myself to needless damage from zombies.

This wouldn't be as bad if missions didn't involve timers (some are outright timed, but you only have a certain length of time to save survivors from the hordes), but seeing as they do, wasting time trying to figure out where the one connecting bridge from Island A to Island B is just infuriated me time & again because I'm a bad navigator. Granted, there are plenty of between-buildings shortcuts as well, but when you can't find where you're going via the roadways, cutting between skyscrapers isn't very helpful.

(EDIT: This brings me to another issue, the camera. It made me nauseous once or twice when I was swinging around in circles repeatedly, and it cost me a mission a couple times when I would inadvertently drive into a pack of zombies & get killed or mistakenly think I could squeeze through a shortcut and the time it took to reverse out and get going again made me run out of time at the end), so I can't give it a positive grade. On a 1-10 scale it swings between a passable 7 and a "OMG FUCKING CAMERA, now I have to pick up 10 survivors all over again because you didn't show me that pack of zombies until I drove into it" 0.)

Another issue I had was with vehicle variety. Sure, the game has a handful of choices, but you'll only use about 4 of them (the best car in the game you get at the end, the massive-capacity vehicle you get near the midway point, the first vehicle you unlock & any one of the other half-dozen vehicles you can unlock when neither of the first three are either available or applicable). This makes the rest seem like a waste, as they stay un-upgraded & therefore useless in comparison.

I would've rather seen more weapon & zombie variety. There are 5 weapons, 2 of which are very situation-specific (the nitro for boosting speed to either make a critical timed point or plow through a group, and the flamethrower that doesn't appear to do anything as I would kill whatever was in front of me by driving over it before the flames would kill it), and 5 zombie types with only 2 mattering because once you start upgrading you just mow through the other 3 groups without slowing down or taking damage.

I had an enjoyable few hours with it, but there doesn't seem to be replay value as I've no desire to play it again. Would've been worth buying on sale if it hadn't been on the pirate bay, methinks.

I didn't get to play NHL 10 online much during a lot of the season. I got it on its release date, but I was at ECHL hockey games almost every Friday night, and Friday was my team's official club play night.

I only had played 24 games (as opposed to 200+ last season) until 2 weeks ago. I played 8 games 2 Fridays ago, and I played 16 more on Friday and Saturday of this week, including 8 hours straight on Friday night. I've been doing pretty well.

I've also played through 3 of the campaigns on Left 4 Dead 2, which I just got, and online leagues in MLB 10 and Madden 10.

Played all 4 hours of the available APB beta today. Worth the week wait, and worth another week's wait for yet another stress test.

So you think APB will be worth the buy? I've followed it's progress and it does look cool and unique. My only concern with some MMO's is the engine they use.

Right now the main issues are lag (but I'm in the EU beta from New York, so it's really not that big a deal as I've only suffered sporadic spikes in ~5 total hours), repetitiveness (thus far all I've seen are step-by-step "go here, do this, now go somewhere else" quests & defend-this-point missions that are horribly unbalanced towards the criminals) and balance (the same as any MMO, you get good enough with what you have & you get to upgrade it...but since everything's PvP this means that when the best players have the best equipment they've got double the advantage over Joe Nobody).

Also driving sucks something fierce. Remember GTA4 driving where the physics were so realistic it felt like everything drove like a previous GTA dump truck until you got used to it? Now imagine that, without getting used to it.

The first time I stepped into a Blockbuster in over 2 years, and they had FFXII for 7 bucks, so I had to buy it. I still dont know why people hate this game, its a fun time. The story goes to shit about halfway through but the gameplay is probably the best. And I love doing the Hunts, easily the best 'sidequest' idea for an RPG in forever.

I've been playing a bit of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 and The Saboteur lately. MUA2 was decent, but is nowhere near as good as the far superior first game, and the Saboteur seems alright once you open up the actual open world about an hour plus into it.

I'm having a blast with SC: Conviction. It actually reminds me a bit of Arkham Asylum where you can hide in the shadows and pick off a room of enemies one by one as their buddies panic. I think it's a fantastic marriage of action and stealth.

I bought a Dreamcast and Quake III was the first game I bought off eBay that's come so far. I'm pretty bad at it.

Sonic Adventure now. Does this game ever get going? The levels are alright, but everything in between is boring as hell.

I gave up on Sonic Adventure early.

House of the Dead 2 is a blast with the guns.

Jet Grind Radio is cool.

For fighters the Marvel vs Capcom and Power Stone games are fun

I still love Sonic Adventure, but no it never really picks up except maybe on Sonic's story. Not being able to skip the cinematics (if I remember correctly) is pretty lame. Do yourself a favor though and don't even bother playing through as Big unless you just have to fully beat the game. Man is that miserable.

Yeah, I've got Jet Grind Radio and I'll start that pretty soon.

I'll probably keep playing Sonic for now.

I finished the achievements on Sonic's Genesis Collection yesterday. I guess the only thing left to do is play the Phantasy Star games and finish Comix Zone finally.

Playing The NES. Mario 3, Ghosts and Goblins, Duck Tales, and Dr. Mario so far. I've got a whole tub of games to go through. Like, over 100 games, easily. My plan is to master the NES again, then once my hand is healed enough for that, I'll move on to the Sega Genisis, then the SNES, and so on, until I can play the X-box 360.

Wanted to play No Mercy or WCW Vs NWO but the damn AV cord on the N64 doesn't work. So I'm left to try and beat Mass Effect 2 without having half my squad die horrible embarrassing deaths.

I just beat ME2 without losing anyone. Do all the ship upgrades, make sure everyone is loyal, and pick the right people for the right jobs. Go in and make multiple save files *just in case*.

My choices:
Legion in the vents, Garrus leading the 2ndary squad, Mordin escorting the crew back to the ship. For the people I took with Shepard, I used Miranda with Warp upgraded all the way to Heavy Warp, and Grunt's Incidendiary Ammo upgraded to Squad Incendiary Ammo. Collectors aren't too much of a problem when you can burn through any armored ones' armor, and warp their barriers (stacking Miranda's heavy warp with my own warp).

Ah cool, thanks for the help. I figure I was picking the wrong people for the jobs. And I foolishly neglected to do some loyalty missions so I guess that was part of my failings. Well, I'm off to my next attempt. Thanks for the advice!
