I don't think he has any interest in doing a full time, on air role. He's already burning the candle at both ends with the podcasts (half of which he usually pawns off to guest his hosts) and his mortgage business. Plus I do think he's self aware enough to know that being a stickman would expose his limited talent/charisma.

Weirdly his in was through Shane Douglas, which is ironic considering who became Connie's dear old father in law. Conrad donated 5 or 10 grand to crowdfund an ECW documentary Shane was trying to produce in the early 2010s and found out that if you throw around a few Gs, wrestlers will hang out at your Huntsville resort and shoot the shit with you for a few hours. Then he figured out a way to monetize that.

I think the story is that Connie hired Bruce Prichard (when he was on the outs with WWE) to host a wrestling party at a bar with him and his friends. They became friends after that night and the rest is history.

Bruce was out of WWE for years before him and Conrad met. They met when Bruce was a guest on Ric Flair's original podcast in 2013-14ish.

Considering that ECW was the first promotion to embrace the internet, it's amazing that there are no really strong ECW podcast. Brian Myers did a pilot for an oral history of ECW type podcast last year that was kind of interesting and I think might have been way to do it but it didn't take.

So 13 months after the pilot, Brian Myers just dumped five more episodes today (a BALLS MAHONEY retrospective, a Tommy Dreamer interview, WrestlePalooza 1998, Anarchy Rulz 1999 and an interview with the dude who composed the original music of ECW). Fact that one of them is an interview with the #canceled Tommy Dreamer makes me think he just decided to let this stuff out of the can. But I will definitely listen to the BALLS episode and find out.

I like that he chose not super obvious ECW PPVs. No one needs to hear the umpteenth time about how Barely Legal barely got on the air.

It's his backup Paul Bromwell, who just gives off strong #3 local news station's weekend sports anchor vibe.

Jon Alba is a pretty good sports journalist and this is a passion project of his so I'm mildly curious to see if he can rein Matt Hardy in. Better him than Conrad.

Speaking of our favorite podcasting Alabama Man, HE'S going to have another podcast with DDP and Jake The Snake in 2022. It sounds like it's going to be more self help/motivational than straight up rasslin.

Matt's just a pretty annoying dude. That said his streams have him and his annoying wife, so it could be better. Last I saw was him trying to create a storyline around Rhino becoming a black woman, though, so maybe a podcast could rule.
