I will hold on and be strong , @BruiserBrody . As tempting as it is to hear Eric Bischoff wryly breakdown ‘00 WCW. I am comforted by the knowledge that at least an hour and a half of this will be him needlessly burying Tony Khan and Meltzer.

Has anybody heard this week’s episode of Grilling JR? Apparently the original intention of the show was to just discuss how JR broke into the business. But supposedly as the show progressed, Ross decided to give graphic details about some pretty horrible shit that he witnessed in Mid South during the 1970s. I have not listened to JR’s podcast in quite some time but I saw people talking about it on Twitter, so I am checking it out now. Whatever ends up getting discussed, it is bad enough that it necessitated Conrad Thompson recording a disclaimer and warning at the beginning of the episode.

They ended up calling it “The Dark Side of Mid South.”

Brody and I talked about it a bit in the mid-south thread.

Conrad had to pretend like this was the first time JR told him that Dick Murdoch was a card carrying klan member.

The disclaimer in the beginning seemed a little shruggy, when you remember that he was having a grand time with Rhaka Khan’s legitimate mental illness over the lawsuits she’s filed.

Yeah. It really made the entire Sting Vs Hogan storyline seem friggin pointless.
I stopped watching/getting tapes of Nitro for whatever reason (again...no cable yada yada) and was flummoxed when I saw Lobster Sting one week. I was so confused.

Wrestling Memory Grenade host/producer Ray Russell was plugging his patreon and dropped in "I have 8 kids guys!" Must be Catholic.
--

Here's the clip of Conrad not knowing Bob Sweetan was a pedo, then laughing anyway as JR talks about Sweetan's dirty talk before JR reveals the fact that Sweetan was looking at a 10 year old, not her mother.

Conrad was doing theaters and major comedy clubs before the pandemics. Granted, it was with his co-hosts but I don't doubt he could draw a few hundred people on his own.

In fact, I’ve heard a certain super fan in Maine has gifted his entire family an all expenses paid vacation to Australia* to attend this.

*Does not include flight or hotel accommodation

Over 10K in miles and 20 hours plus in flight time for this one though.

Maybe he is going to Australia to set up the Hogan/Flair rematch the world has been waiting for.

I listen to a Conrad podcast maybe once every 1 to 2 weeks. I post about him more than I listen to him! I'm not a super fan!!!

Full disclosure: I do own the shirt with Conrad, Bruce, Tony Schiavone, and Eric Bischoff replicating the cover of the Death Row Records issues of Vibe as a result of a drunken impulse buy.

I found out this AM that Jericho tossed out a SNME review from 87 (Brody bait) w/ Bryan Alvarez, Big Vinny V, and Lance Storm

- Jericho says he's never heard Gordon Solie call a match and doesn't care about him.
- Jericho says he watched all the SNME a bunch of times being a fan, followed by.,,,
- Jericho asks if Bret Hart ever worked a match with Savage on a SNME. Vinny "Wait ten minutes..."
- As they watch the match Jericho blurts out "OHHH, I just watched this match 3 months ago to get ready for my match with Bryan Danielson"
- They oddly do not play the promo audio, so we get 30 second spots of dead air and then the guys cackle. Conrad plays audio all the time. I don't get it...

i think we have (ironically) made the Old School observation thread the only spot for that, even though it is the most modern of the old wrasslin' discussion.

--
Lance Storm and Jericho revealed on that pod I mentioned above that while Hulk does his Hulk up he's actually screaming "Hulk up! HULK UP! HULK UP!" Storm was confused that Hogan thought Storm didn't know the finish sequence of a Hogan match.
--
Jericho is baffled that Hogan works the middle of SNME and doesn't go on last. That seems like basic wrestling nerd knowledge, especially since he watched this all as a teenager.

GFA Live was reviewing an Andre Rumble 89 promo. Andre garbled his words, saying "wing" instead of ring, which lead into them joking about Andre being in a chicken wing eating contest. Then Andre being interviewed on that celeb Hot Wings youtube channel. I howled.

Now I want a world where Andre lives to cameo on Bar Rescue. Jon Tapper arrives at the Friendly Tap Saloon, freshly destroyed by another WWF skit. The bar is in shambles, but Andre is sitting at the corner of the bar. Meat sweats are forming on his brow.
Tapper says "I'M CUTTING YOU OFF!" Andre backfists him.

In this week's "Why do I still listen to this?" moment, after almost 4 hours of blathering about mostly modern stuff, Brian Last decided to read Jim the roster for the AEW video game, so we can get our monthly excuse to have Corny groan over their talent.
"Jim, let's go over the roster of AEW to see how a brand split would work for them if Punk comes back..."
"Jim, let's go over the roster of AEW to grade them one by one"
"Jim, let's go over the roster of AEW to see who should be elevated tp face MJF and Punk"

Brian also mentioned his gardener and maid, which gives me class envy. Grab your bootstraps, Brody.

They close the "Q and A" show with very few if any questioned asked with a fan submitted song about Bix being a virgin.

Remind me not to listen to the Nash podcast in the AM. I have to draw the line somewhere.
