These are the biggest protests I've seen, and they're all over the place. Bigly big.

Unlike the narrative that Univision and especially Jorge Ramos tried to push as hard as they could, I always said there was no such thing as a Latino vote. Too many different communities with vastly dissimilar origins that only coincidentially line up behind the same electoral option. Trump went after visible immigrants, mostly Mexicans and Central Americans that are the ones who have to deal with an irregular status that condems them to living in the shadows. They find it harder to integrate, work for much cheaper and are target for the resentment of blue collar workers that blame them for "taking their jobs", as well as many who actually have a stable economic situation but feel that "the Mexicans" are taking over the country. Trump appealed to that sentiment, to those who panic when they have statistics thrown at theif cace constantly telling them that in no time, that minority group will be the majority. The victor from last night's election bet on that segment and disregarded the other group which lead many to say that Latinos would deny him the Presidency.

But the thing is, many other Latinos actually feel a little like the blue collar whites. Cubans especifically, due to the Adjustment Act, they get instant residence and a quick path to citizenship. The whole system is in their favor so they do not go through all the obstacles that the Mexicans and Central Americans go through. With all those open doors and them being a powerful group both economically and politically in Florida, they can agree with that Trump says because they just do not see how it could possibly relate to them. They are tired of seeing how Univision and many mainstream channels make them, in their opinion, "invisible" in favor of Mexicans so they become angry. Add to that Obama's visit to Cuba and you have a total recipe for Cuban turnout in favor of Donald Trump.

I do not like Hillary, never did and probably never will. Dislike Trump a lot too and really doubt that will change. But one of the things that saddens me most is this whole idea that Trump speaking against especific immigrant groups is not an attack on all. Of course, it's not like 100% went for him, but a big majority of those with no migration issues in Florida sent a big fuck you to people who did not have a system that welcomes them with pretty much open arms.

Well at last Sheriff Joe was finally voted out of office. We'll never have to deal with that asshole again.

Giuliani or Sheriff Joe Arpaio could be the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, and Christie has long been seen as a contender for attorney general.

Where was this protesting before Trump got into office? Where was this outrage?

Did people really not realize how dangerous it was that he was the Republican nominee?

This really seems to be Brexit all over again. With people voting against Hillary and then going "what the fuck did I just do".

The immediate effort to curry favour with the president-elect less than 24 hours after the U.S. vote is a significant move to develop a co-operative relationship with a leader who is Mr. Trudeau’s political opposite. Liberal MPs have also been told to avoid criticizing Mr. Trump, who is well aware the Trudeau government was opposed to his stunning victory.

A prominent Canadian business figure and long-time friend of Mr. Trump told The Globe and Mail that the Republican leader knows that Mr. Trudeau and his team were “in the tank” for Hillary Clinton and in regular contact with campaign manager John Podesta and other key Democratic operatives.

“Trump is very defensive. He remembers all the people who were against him. He knows that the only person in Canada who has openly supported him is Conrad Black,” said the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity. “He also knows the government of Canada was 100-per-cent opposed to him. So they are not starting with a position of strength.”

Mr. Trump apparently has few Canadian friends other than Mr. Black, the former media magnate, as well as former prime minister Brian Mulroney and his wife, Mila, who is also close to Melania Trump.

Just now saw this and was not aware of this at all. Dems need to leave people like this reporter and others who engage in identity politics in the dust. Those people aren't even a sure thing to vote for Democrats and cannot be relied on. Effectively they only have the choice to vote for a Democrat, waste a vote, or don't vote at all. After years of right wing policies eventually they'll come around.

The DWS reign over the DNC has effectively emboldened these kinds of people, and look where Democrats are now.

The Left is absolutely embarrassing itself right now. The President needs to get on TV and quell this nonsense.

They won't. They don't actually care about that stuff. They want extinct manufacturing jobs to come back and health care to cost less.

I talked to a few family members and coworkers who I knew were voting Trump. They didn't like that their insurance was $100 more a month than it used to be. They wanted to give someone else a shot. They actually will be upset when the destruction of the ACA skyrockets their plans way past that.

Just to bring more negative...this stuff is genuinely incredible to me.

Solar energy plan fails in Florida, even though it was backed by utility companies.

Pro-solar energy groups were against it, too.
Amendment 1 was created by an organization with a grassroots-sounding name: Consumers for Smart Solar. In reality, though, the organization is financed by the state's major electric utility companies as well as by conservative groups with ties to the Koch brothers.
Also, p. sure conservatives are finally going to get their wish by defunding Planned Parenthood.

“Donald Trump tapped into the anger of a declining middle class that is sick and tired of establishment economics, establishment politics and the establishment media,” Sanders said. “People are tired of working longer hours for lower wages, of seeing decent paying jobs go to China and other low-wage countries, of billionaires not paying any federal income taxes and of not being able to afford a college education for their kids – all while the very rich become much richer.”

“To the degree that Mr. Trump is serious about pursuing policies that improve the lives of working families in this country, I and other progressives are prepared to work with him. To the degree that he pursues racist, sexist, xenophobic and anti-environment policies, we will vigorously oppose him.”

always keepin' it real.

Senate already shitting on Trump's Empty the Swamp Plan:

On Wednesday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell mostly made nice with Trump but also shot down or expressed little enthusiasm in some of his plans. On Trump's proposal to impose term limits on Congress, McConnell said, "It will not be on the agenda in the Senate." McConnell has been a long-standing opponent of term limits, as NPR's Susan Davis reports. "I would say we have term limits now — they're called elections."

McConnell also threw some cold water on Trump's infrastructure plans, calling it not a top priority.

McConnell did say repealing Obamacare is a "pretty high item on our agenda" along with comprehensive tax reform and achieving border security "in whatever way is the most effective." But he also declined to discuss the Senate's immigration agenda further.

So you know damn well the rich are getting the business cut... what are the odds the middle class cut gets lost in the shuffle, and what are the odds the ass clowns in the board rooms will use the funds for jobs and not plumping the bottom line for wall street?
